Video: ‘Dear Mr. Obama’

This video of an Iraq vet’s open letter to Sen. Barack Obama has been viewed over 11 MILLION times on YouTube.

Says the Iraq war veteran in his open letter to Obama, “When you call the Iraqi war a mistake you disrespect the service and the sacrifice of everyone who’s died promoting freedom.”

That’s deep. We’re almost positive he didn’t give his name because he doesn’t want what happened to Joe the Plumber to happen to him.

Yep, I can envision government officials doing background checks on this guy any day now. Truth be told, the video I would really like to see is the one of Barack Obama that the L.A. Times refuses to release to the public. Hopefully, they’ll come to their senses before election day.

I’m a Iraq War vet. Not only do I feel we need to pull out but so do most others I know in the military. It’s a little known fact that military families have given Obama 6 times more money this election cycle than they have McCain. There is a reason for that, we are tired of fighting a meaningless war with no end in sight. I hate the way McCain gets guys like the one in this video above and put them on like they speak for all of us when they only speak for a few. It’s sad that he has lost his leg but he wouldn’t have lost it had Bush not sent us over there for no reason.

The invasion of Iraq was a mistake, I don’t see how saying the truth is disrespectful. The truth is Bush slaughtered thousands of American soldiers for his own personal gain. Many children will never know their parents because of this war, many mothers will never see their children smile again. This war has robbed at least two nations of a portion of their future and continues to cost us.

If the war in Iraq was truly about freedom, then why wasn’t Sudan invaded as well? People in Darfur have been systematically executed, they too want to be free of midnight raids and having their children stolen from them. If it’s about a better life for everyone, what about Congo? Don’t the Congolese want a chance to live in a secure world where rape isn’t used as a weapon to destroy. If it’s about ridding the world from tyranny, why is Mugabe still sitting pretty? What about our friends in North Korea? How come it’s only people with oil that are worth paying the price of freedom for?

I wish people wouldn’t kid themselves, the war in Iraq was initiated for selfish reasons, to line some fatcat oil billionaires pockets with even more money. We should never have been in Iraq, in this respect it was a mistake… our soldiers should not have died for this dishonest cause.

Uh Charles ain’t you gay? If so don’t complain if McCain/Palin no longer allow you to mate with your own kind. It’s funny to me how anybody gay or of color can support the republican party because for one they definitely don’t care for either and Palin already said how she feels. So should they get in office and don’t wanna hear no gay cries about gay rights!!!!

The closer we get the more we see how the McCain supporters act they are about a nanosecond away from calling him a “****”. The same dumbasses that voted for Bush and now crying because their house is in foreclosure and are doing bad. Serve you right!

One thing is for certain that Obama understands that rebuilding the economy starts with education because majority of us americans are dumb as dirt just look at the school records of McCain and Palin obviously education doesn’t matter as long as you got money out of the ying yang. How the hell do we owe China 500 billion?? And we consider ourselves a super power, I have friends in Germany and they are laughing at the U.S. because we are broke!

umm little troll, Congo is no more complex than Iraq was when Saddam was alive and in power. Some Iraqis were happy when he was there, some weren’t; what’s your fugging point. How educated are you? Barack has you all hypnotized because he is black i understand, its ok you dont even know where barack stands on his policies because HE DOESNT EITHER and i never said i supported MCCAIN/PALIN so please stop assuming

also i normally ignore you haters but i am not gay like your DL Husband/boyfriend

  16. 16
    dblaq says:

I think I am probably way more educated than you because I didn’t have to go into the military for a job. And of course you would say that someone votes for Obama because he is black but I have to inform you that his color doesn’t make any difference to me. Obama could be Spongebob or William Hung and I would have voted for them.

Well if you spent majority of your time bashing Obama obviously you must be quite happy with the McCain ticket because I don’t hear you say not one thing bad about it, so I will continue to speculate because I can. Anyways I rather have E.T. as president than to continue to deal with these redneck, racists, looking out only for the rich and manipulating government so that they can keep getting richer and shytting on us. Sorry buddy, stop letting these white folks brainwash you in the military.

I hate to say it but these election exposed the racial division of america because this is what boils down to.

Everytime I hear Sarah Palin speak I want to throw up because that dumb biatch keeps talking about experience that chick doesn’t have experience and plus she doesn’t know a damn thing about anything but the stuff she is being fed by McCain. People keep talking about her governing Alaska her whole state doesn’t have more people than the city of Jacksonville. Palin doesn’t even know where Afghanistan is.

I will let the last statement be answered by who ever you directed it too.

The Iraq war WAS, IS and will ALWAYS be a mistake. Who are we fooling here? What “freedoms are being protected” when the Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11 and did NOT provoke the attacks?

This same war that has claimed the lives of over 150,000 Iraqis and by some independent estimates, as many as a million innocent Iraqis that the conservative bandwagoners are calling terrorists? Every smart person knows the real terrorists are in high-powered positions raking in millions from this war. They should try some other form of propaganda but not this Joseph Goebells kind of BS!

    Jahvonna says:

    @Sandra

I usually agree with you, but this time I have to say “Are you serious”? Our Government is not over there giving those people Freedom- that is not the reason why they are over there. They don’t even care about our own people (White People at that) who are going homeless, lossing there jobs, and living in their cars. Iraq, Syria, and Iran makes up what used to be Mesopotamia(1 of the oldest civilization on earth). Our government is looking for something and it isn’t oil nor weapons of mass destruction either. It is much deeper than that…..

  21. 21
    Jahvonna says:

Imagine if another country came over here(USA) and killed the majority of our leaders, our families, and destroyed all of our homes/businesses. Would you call that Freedom??? Things were bad in Iraq under Hussein, but before we enter their country they were only losing 20 people a day. After the war started the Iraqi Women, Children, and Men died at a rate of over 100 a day. If thats freedom- You can keep it. I feel bad for our soldier and I support them, but I don’t support the war. Half of my friends are over there and they don’t want to be!!

  22. 22
    Jahvonna says:

    @Sandra
It is a MISTAKE, we went there looking for weapons of mass destruction and did not find it. We destroyed families, homes, and lives. Then we turned it around and called it Iraqi Freedom (BS).
    Example of a mistake.
A doctor tells you, Sandra, that you have cancer in both of you legs. Your legs are removed to stop the spread of cancer, but later you find out that you never had cancer, and it was a misread on your med. charts. However, they did find that you had high blood pressure, and they fixed that health problem. Sandra, do you consider that a mistake????????

  23. 23
    Abhor_ says:

I’m pretty sure Bush disrespected the people/families who died for “freedom” when he lied to us about the start of this war from jump. Its truly a shame when you have soo many people overseas fighting and dying when they don’t even know what their doing this whole thing for. I’m tired of the Mccain/Palin camp saying ” We need to win this war” or “We’re close to winning this war”..The war was “over” years ago yet you have more people dying after it was over than before. Noone cares about “winning” because these wars and not meant to be won, people just want their families back.

@bigqdawg are you serious about that LA Times video? :) Sweetheart I don’t know where to begin. Obama was at a party for Khalidi a palestinian who has a less than favorable view of Isreal but what the McCain campaign isn’t saying is that John McCain was Chairman of a group that gave a $448,873 grant to Khalidi’s Center for Palestine Research and Studies for work in the West Bank. So another guilt by association piece of sh1t smear tactic that’s not going to stick.

@6 OF COURSE CHARLES IS UP BECAUSE HE’S SANDRA ALTER EGO!

Whatever! Disrespect is keeping our troops over there dying while accomplishing not a damn thing.

What’s deep is that our troops are still there for NO reason. The war was a mistake; I can see that now but I will admit that when 911 went down I wanted all those MF’s to go down; particularly Bin Laden. That’s the MF I thought we were going after. In any event, our troops should have been brought home a long time ago.

    What’s deep?

What’s deep is that the Bush administration would rather keep the troops over there perpetrating bullsh!t instead of coming home. Hindsight is 20/20 so forget the would of, should of and could of because we can’t go back but the Bush administrations needs to say you know what, come on home troops; come on home. Now that is some deep sh!t for your A!!

  39. 39
    kalvonel says:

IMO The troops need to come home because America was wrong in sending them AND because we’re broke. No sense in spending all this money over seas when we need to take care of our home first. Not to mention they’re economy has a f*ck’n surplus! I may not the smartest man on earth, but spending and giving money to people who have plenty when we ourselves are lacking is just plain stupid. Besides – If we are fighting for “freedom” they need to get there arses a helluvalot mor involved. Hell, I refuse to fight/bleed or anyone who won’t fight for themselves.

  40. 40
    Dhoward1913 says:

People being sent there based on a lie is disrespectful. This was simply Part 2 of what Daddy Bush wanted in the first place. I guess it’s disresepctful to say that I want my nephew home instead of fighting people that have done no harm to him. What I do know is that as a black man when he does come home, he has a bigger fight in the country he has sworn to protect!! Oh yeah, #5 was on the money for sure witht ahtpost!

I’m with Dhoward…Mike…Karaz…and all of you that think this war was a mistake. The fellow in the video is talking about sacrifice but this war was started for selfish purposes…he should be pissed, he risked his life and lost a limb for some wealthy person to get richer.

    Seattle Slim says:

As a vet, I am telling you I do NOT feel disrespected when they call it a failure. This little simp in the video is one of those who follows blindly. That **** is a failure plain and simple. There is no other way to go about it.

I just was over at CNN’s roster of fallen soldiers in Iraq from all countries involved. You want to see something sad? Check that out. I was looking at these people saddened and heartbroken because all that remains are pictures, some personal effects and that’s it.

And if he were REAL he wouldn’t appreciate some admiral’s son who got away with crashing 5 jets. If I would’ve done that with just one, I would’ve probably been court-martialed. F*ck out here man…

Do I support the war…HELL NO. I can’t support a war that was started under false pretenses and sends our people to fight for OIL!!!

The war in Iraq was started under the pretense of 9/11 and Osama, then weapons of mass destruction, then saddam (we got him and killed him) and the war is STILL going

nO i DON’T SUPPORT THAT AT ALL. Do I pray for them and their safety….YES.

I wish them all to come back safely to their families.

I have read numerous articles written by medical professionals on the horrible injuries these soldiers are suffering.

Do I support that HELL NAW….however I do support each and every soldier

the war and the soldier are not the same thing.

Kymystry is right…**** Cheyney and Halliburton are here getting rich while the soldiers over THERE fighting and dying…and you want me to support that????

    imanih says:

Here’s the deal. The Iraq war and/or any war is tragic for that matter. The true gift of success of war is not the victory of war but are the goals of the war been accomplished and succesful. Violence is low in the region but we still have to ask our selves is Iraq any stabler in it’s process to develop a better government and sound infastructure. If it’s not, do we stay longer? People have their opinions about this war and wars in general. As we know all know opinions are like assholes though everyone has one. I have two friends and a family member that did there tours of in Iraq I and Iraq II. I appresciate them and all the other service men that fight to keep us safe, free, and progressive in the United States. Here’s my problem though. The fact is that we are the United States of America and we are not the United States of America and Iraq. The Iraqis have asked for a time table and we should adhear to it. Many lives have been lost and it seems the only beneficiary is going to be all of the U.S. private companies that are going to make the profit off U.S. soldiers and innocent Iraqi civilians. Wanted: Osama Bin Laden. Sucks to here that, huh? Because through all these lives lost still the greatest criminal of our time is still out there. So, if the bow breaks again is it our duty to go back and liberate the people of Iraq again? I would say no. Pretty much it would be yes though. The reality it would be in our best interest because if any out breaks in the Middle East threaten our security and security of the free world, it is our duty to react vastly and swiftly to those threats. The real question is if the time ever comes up again, who do you want to make that decision? I don’t know about you but vote.
