Michelle Obama Insults the British (Again)
The British are in an uproar over several apparent snubs directed at the visiting Prime Minister and his wife by the Obamas.
First, the British didn’t take kindly to POTUS Barack Hussein Obama sending back the Winston Churchill bust that was a gift from former British prime minister Tony Blair following the September 11 attacks. Obama replaced the bust with one of Abraham Lincoln.
Then Obama snubbed Prime Minister Gordon Brown this week when he canceled a scheduled meeting with him in the White House rose garden. Oh, his excuse was the light blanket of snow that fell on D.C. — as if the meeting couldn’t be held indoors.
But this latest snub by First lady Michelle Obama has the British citizenry heated: Gordon Brown and his wife came to D.C. bearing fine gifts for the First daughters — Top Shop dresses (with matching necklaces) and a selection of books by British authors worth hundreds of British pounds.
In return, Michelle gave the Brown’s two sons cheap, tacky, plastic replicas of Obama’s controversial Marine One helicopter. The trinkets can be purchased for $15 in the White House gift shop.
I’m bewildered that White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers didn’t handle the selection of gifts for the visiting dignitaries. Isn’t that part of her job description?
How embarrassing! Now I have to hear about this from my British blogging counterparts.

You shouldn’t worry about what your British compatriots say Ms Sandra.. I mean you can respond by telling them that you are not a kool-aid drinker and this is not your First Lady and President.

Sandra, Top shop is like Target (I love top shop cotton panties) and how many books did they get that cost “hundred” of pounds?
I live in the surrounding areas of DC and to call it a blanket of snow is truly an understatement….no it wasn’t the snow storm of the 21st century but it did screw up traffic….bottom line Sandra dont get you panties in a bunch….if you love the PM so much I’m sure he’d welcome you back!!

When people give you a gift, you don’t have to ‘match” what they give you, do you? Gifts are gifts. Maybe Michelle felt like the book and a helicopter was appropriate for the too boys that probably have every everything they want.
Obama is president now, and just like any other president, he can like who he want, and do what he want in “his” white house.
Can you send a link to the other british blogs. Maybe I need to read them to understand the sincerity of this, because it just seem funny to me. I am like picturing it in my head.

It was more then a blanket. And you know that by law politicians are not allowed to except gifts over a certain value.

Who cares how much the items cost? The gifts were given as a gesture. Surely, you and your Brit friends can find something else to be up in arms about.
