Behind the Scenes: Young Jeezy’s Video Shoot
Last week, rapper Young Jeezy was kept super busy grinding out two videos in 24 hours off his gold album The Recession. Jeezy shot two back-to-back videos for “Get A Lot” and “Don’t You Know” at the Krog Studios in Atlanta. Word is, Def Jam’s goal is to shoot a video for every track on Jeezy’s album. Videos must be going for nothing these days. I remember the days when a single video would set a major label back an average of $1 million.
Thanks to Thad over at ExclusiveAccess.net for sending over these pics from the set. You might have seen Thad’s photos with another blog’s logo plastered all over them like they paid for the photos when they didn’t. I wonder if bloggers know that when they do that they take food out of the photographer’s mouth? What ever happened to common courtesy in blogging?

Sandra, I was at (club) Miami a few weeks ago, a friday I guess, and I couldn’t figure out why all the girls had on TRAXX atl wrist bands.. I kept thinking “did all these girls come here after the lesbun club?” Only later did I realize I was at the lesbun club, LOL.

I still ride for Jeezy, I enjoyed this album, and I support his music. I think he may be the last of a dying breed. I don’t know where in the HAIL Def Jam is gettin all this cash to front for ALL these videos tho…

Mabe someone should call for a Boycott. I can’t EVER remember seeing a gun in a rap video - for real, does any other rapper have a gun in his video? Even when Jay Z did 99 problems, did they show a gun, or just show him getting shot down?

I agree…saw the guns in the first pic and was immediately turned all the way off. You’z a grown ask man still playing hood/thug role?? Put on a three piece suit and take them damn glasses off, carry a briefcase and sit behind an executive desk and then maybe I’ll pay some attention, until then, no thank you…NEXT!!!

I think it’s tacky making a video with all these guns when you not too long ago made a video paying homage to our President. That’s why “they” never take “us” seriously when we say we are about change and the betterment of our race.
I saw GMA .. and was KINDA proud about the results .. the boys said BOTH dolls were pretty skin color didn’t matter.. and only 47% of lil brown girls thought the lil brown baby was pretty ….
remember that show “we have got to do better”…well they changed the name from “hot ghetto mess”….these pics look like something that would’ve been on that show.
THEN .. they asked a lil mixed chile which doll she thought was pretty .. she said the white one … even tho i’m mixed up with white and black .. and i’m brown .. i don’t like the brown one …..

My daughter wanted an American Girl doll for Xmas. We had a lengthy conversation about it b/c she had her heart set on a white doll. I tried to encourage her to get the black doll, but she said the black doll (Addie) was not pretty. Now, in her defense, I can see why she would feel that way. These dolls are representative of different “periods”. The Addie doll represents an era when slavery still existed. She is pretty, but her clothes look kinda homely, and her accessories are not much better. Fianlly we were able to reach a compromise since they have the “Just Like Me Dolls” which have all different complexions, hair textures, eye color etc. I found one that closely resembled her.
One the one hand, I felt like, maybe I shouldn’t make a big deal about it since it’s just a doll. But on the other hand, I want her to have dolls that look like her. I don’t want her to feel like she SHOULDN’T have a white doll EVER, but it’s like you have to combat the images of beauty that they are bombarded with every day…blonde hair, blue eyed girls are what’s forced down their throats everyday. It’s sad when you have to give that much thought to what “color” doll your child should play with. Sad b/c in this day and age, skin color just shouldn’t be that important.

It was disturbing that the little girl didn’t like the black doll becuse it talked back. And the other little mixed girl said she most resembled the black doll btu she isn’t mean.
Kym, it was all well and good that they liked the dolls the same, but it’s deeper than what’s on the surface. Things have changed but we still have a VERY LONG WAY TO GO.

I have a friend who is a parent of twin girls (3 yrs old). She refuses to let them be exposed to Dora the Explorer or Diego. At the 2 yr old party, she (less than) politely returned gifts that were Dora/Diego themed.
She had put a note in her invites that they were not to be received. My wife and I thought it was tacky though.
I believe her motive was some “black love” stuff, albeit kind of rude.

That was VERY rude and ignorant! Some people don’t understand where their children get their ignorant ways from.. The home! A doll is a doll! Black or white! Back in my day, there weren’t very many black dolls but that wasn’t an issue cause I just wanted a doll PERIOD!
