EPIC FAIL!
Last night I spoke via phone with a good friend who used to be close to someone in Ciara’s camp. All I can say is the mood in Ciara’s camp right now is not exactly upbeat.
Ciara’s new CD (I forget the name of it) placed a disappointing 3rd in first week sales with only 80,990 units sold. Chrisette Michele’s stellar sophomore release Epiphany came in at #1 with 83, 060 copies sold.
We’re so proud of Chrisette! THe 26-year-old’s soulful album of love-gone-wrong ballads and upbeat tunes is solid and heartfelt. Chrisette’s Epiphany easily outpaced Ciara, who never really had a chance due to lack of radio play. I can’t say I’m sorry for Ciara because her attitude went South immediately after “Goodies” made her a household name. Now her name is toast.
I’m surprised Jay Z let her go out on tour with him.

*Sigh* i must agree which is sad… i thought she had so much promise, When i first heard goodies and seen her dance i was excited to see someone other than beyonce, Promise, and if i was a boy was bangers but she went left on this album, i like Go Girl and it was a good video and ok song (not on album wtf?) but the overall direction of album sucks for most part… poor ci ci.. maybe next album i wont write you off completly yet…(still think she better than ri ri , ri ri can sing or dance, just got lucky with some catchy songs)

Well that just first week sales and although I like her music but NOT this 3rd cd she will continue to sell (probably not as much) once she go on TOUR with J & then with Brittany Spears.But it wont be as HUGE as Evolution was which btw was her best album!! Poor C-error she cant get it right..
Someone said it that she gonna wish she had her old manager back!!! I bet this is the time she is wishing on a STAR!

i have to admit that is is slightly annoying that all these blogs are so focused on the fact that Ciara failed, that the fact Chrisette soared is becoming an after thought. that girls album is soooo good it shocked me lol. Ciara… well… yeah um, she needs new people lol

I bought CiCis 1st cd and that was it. I did not get Chrisettes cd either. I did youtube the Blame it on me song since yall raved about it. I liked it! Still not buying her cd..lol

The sad thing is she did promote the album SNL, Leno those are huge venue’s to promote on. Outside of radio I really haven’t saw Christte get big promo’s. Had she got the team behind her, her numbers would’ve been bigger… Listening to Christte now. Love the CD

Ciara’s last album sold 383,000 first week, now its at 80k….thats da fukking big deal.

To me that’s a step down for CiCi she is on her 3rd cd, she has won Grammy’s, she has has gone Plat in the past. She should not be opening for anyone; and as much as I love him. Sure not no Jay Z. He hasn’t had an album out in how long? & that’s Bey’s husband. I wish I would be the opening act for my biggest competition.
I for one will be at Best Buy the Tuesday Maxwell comes out.
Chrissette or Jasmine? That’s tough. I need to think about that. Let me go home and listen to these cd’s one more time before I vote.

i get all of my cd off line. i was never a cd cover person as for me, u buy 50 pack and down load cds buy the 100’s. i like the old school cd’s the blogs have now.

omg - MAXWELL IS GOING TO SELL BY EPIC STANDARDS! I hope he negotiated his contract to get like $1.00 per point per album. I don’t think the stores will be stocked well enough. There are so many people that have been sitting and waiting on that mannnnnnnnnnn.

Beyonce is not Ciaras biggest Competiton. I’m sorry, I don’t even like Bey and I think she and Ciara are not in the same category. As for her opening for Jay, I think it’s a good move, because between this and her video with JT (which was hot), and this alter-ego *tee-hee*, she’s getting ready to cross over.
Who better to carry you over the burning sands, thatn with Jay-Z? All the white boys and girls love him and his NY logo ball cap.

I did Anti and I named her that cuz it was a big azz mistake to give her a contract. If u have her first and 2nd cd go back and listen, it is studio mixed and she sings real low so u can’t really hear that she can’t SANG!!! I agree give Chrisette her own story line.
I am rarely disappionted when I buy a cd because I am selective about who I buy.
Yes I will be at target bright n early on July 7th to get my Maxwell CD. I saw him last yr in concert FAB and I will be going to Essence to see him again. Can’t wait to see him perform on the BET awards. His new single is lovely!

He has been having a hard time selling out shows. & having JT on her album sure didn’t help her sell.
That’s just my opinion.
JayZ and Beyonce should have a Bonnie and Clyde Tour…. that would be crazy
@Mizz I am not sure how many cds he will sell but all his shows last year sold out and that was w/o having any new music out. So I hope they ship enough to the stores. I am sure he will be #1 that week though.

sandra, do you believe that her new management company took her into the wrong direction for this new album. I believe she lost her hardcore fanbase with her new direction. Ciara had her own lane when she came out,but now i don’t know what she wants to be a superhero or supermodel. i also blame jive records and her team for putting out old singles on this new album, they were on youtube for the past year. Sandra, i would like to know more information from your source about her album sells and how her former camp feels about her new direction. Ciara needs to be Ciara. The good next door/urban look is what made her unique. I am still a fan.
