The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, was finally laid to rest last night more than two months after he died at age 50 of an apparent cardiac arrest on June 25th. Jackson was interred in a crypt alongside Hollywood legends such as Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, David Carradine, Sammy Davis Jr., and others following a private sunset ceremony at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.

The guests were limited to family members and close friends, including Berry Gordy, who signed 10-year-old Michael and his brothers to a recording contract in the late 60s, and Gladys Knight, who discovered the Jackson 5. Knight sang "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" at the ceremony.

Others attending the funeral included Michael's friends music producers Quincy Jones and Teddy Riley, actors McCauley Culkin, Elizabeth Taylor, Corey Feldman, Clifton Davis (who sang the Jackson 5 hit "Never Can Say Goodbye" -- a song he wrote); actress LisaRaye, comedian Chris Tucker, industry veteran Suzanne de Passe, the Jackson 5's road manager and mentor; Lisa Marie Presley, one of Jackson's former wives, the Rev. Al Sharpton, and others. Jackson's longtime friend Diana Ross did not attend.

Michael's brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, Randy, and the two boys Michael raised as his own -- Prince Michael I and Michael II., all wore black suits with red ties, black arm bands and a single white sequined glove. The funeral was delayed over two months due to a rift between Michael's mother Katherine and his brother Jermaine over the final burial plans.

Thank you for this post Sandra. And aside from your usual one smart comment thank you for being respectful.

I think it took time to bury him because of the autopsy and the fact that his mother had a hard time coming to grips with what happened. I also think that may be why they were running late. The burial is usually the hardest thing because its so final. Kate likely had a hard time getting there. I can't even imagine.

I saw pictures of Chris Tucker.. First since he passed.

Hello All. It's so sad that it took this family so long to bury this dead human body, just doesn't make sense, and then to be an hour late for the service. When oh when will we get off CPT, it has hindered us for way too long. That's why must of us can't stay ahead 'cause we always late for er thang, on colored people's time*. My people, my people. And to be buried in a $30,000 gold casket. What a waste of money. MJ ain't aware of what color draws he got on much less what he's resting in. Me, I want to be buried in the cheapest coffin they can find, even pine would do me fine. Give me my flowers while I can still smell them. R.I.P MJ R.I.P.

  • PAHairston

    I meant 'most' not 'must'

  • precious1

You mean Micheals two sons! As far as I'm concerned Mike IS their biological father. If the parents gave their children to him, than he IS their father!

  • iscream

    *rolleyes* HARD

WHATEVER!!!... A king should be buried in style. If you got the money do what you want.

    And

Unless you have personally lost a child you don't know the pain of burying one.

  • iscream

I just wanted to add that in anicent times when people were turned into mummies. They would be buried with real gold and jewels...

  • mjoylaw

R I P Michael..the world as we know it will never be the same without your presence.

I feel for the family, as Janet says, to us Michael was an icon, to the he was family. This loss of one who was too young to die, and the way he died, has to be beyond painful..so if they were late, so be it, they were doing the best they could and I don't think it was a reflection on their heritage but rather their natural grief over the situation. I remember when we buried my father, there's a lot of hoopla (as Liz called it) initially after a death, but when you have to actually bury the person it.is.FINAL. People differ in their grief process, we have an elderly woman and young children in this scenario to consider.

It is sad that Diana Ross was not there, and Debbie Rowe didn't show her face either. Obviously she has never wanted the responsibility of being a mother to her children. I cannot fathom Michael denying either her or his children her love if she had wanted to be in their lives, she obviously didn't and yeah, needed to stay her azz at home. Same for Diana, after she shunned Michael years ago and obviously he continued to have strong feelings for her since he willed her his kids if Kate couldn't step up, I wonder if she feels guilty and couldn't show her nasty ol face either.

Still can't believe Dr. Murray done killed Mike. He SHOULD NOT have been taking drugs, but he knew he had a problem and Murray was supposed to keep him safe. WTF

By the way, PRINCE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE MICHAEL DID AT THAT AGE. THE FACES ARE ALMOST IDENTICAL. THAT'S MICHAEL'S SON, the child is biracial and looks like both his parents.

Sing and dance with the angels Michael, say hi to Jesus and God for us and we'll see you again..farewell

    @ Crystal yep that Cliffton

Janet Jackson is rumored to do Harpers Bazzar and talk about the death of her brother.

Some yt french man brought Neverland. I'm not 100% sure if he's going to make it his office or not. But he said he would open it up to the Media on MJ birthday & anniversary.. wish his family could've gotten the property.

  • Shauny

No comment on this post or Sandra's usual snide remarks at trying to rile folks up but I just wanted to let folks know that they should catch Unsung on TVOne. BOY those shows ARE THE BOMB. It's so much better than VH1s behind the music.

They did one on Melba Moore and that's how I found out that her and Clifton Davis were long time lovers, and he was a songwriter. I only knew him from Amen. I'm like DAMN!

They had DeBarge and Minne Ripperton (which both made me cry), Shalamar and Phyllis Hyman just to name a few. It's a really great program. Those names may not mean anything to you yougins but you 80s babies know who I'm talking about.

  • coaretained

They say Debbie wanted to come but was denied the priviledge...mjoy.. your post was the bomb...and as I always say.. until I see DNA saying otherwise... Michael... you ARE the father...( even though paris DOES kinda look like that british dude...but she's still MJ's to me)

I feel for Janet so much.. po woman can't say anything but the same line over and over about him being an icon.. that pic up top shows it all... can't imagine....glad to see Chris Tucker made it too.. I kinda thought he would take it hard too.. I still think MJ and Diana were :hump: these last few years... don't know why she didn't show up thats kinda foul unless she is tired of watching people die before her like someone mentioned earlier.

  • http://XSCAPESIGHTINGS.COM crystal

@Shauny I heard he did Melba dirty, he was her manerger and she did not get alot of her royalties to the point she had to go on welfare from what i heard. I remember the Jet magazine posting the amount she get in foodstamps and cash assistance. I am happy that she is back on top. Never let your spouse or family become your manager. I hope Mary J is taking notes cause her husband also have that "Secrect taste of frosted flakes" look right out sneaky.

Everyone have a safe wonderful holiday weekend. And if anyone is from the BKLYN area see ya on the parkway. Don't know if im gonna ride the job float or do the side line thang.
