Celebrate Monica’s Birthday Tonight!
After a brief hiatus from the music industry, Monica is back in the spotlight with an intimate, provocative docu-drama that takes a look at her day-to-day world in the new original BET series. To celebrate the many sides of Monica, BET Networks, Upscale Magazine and Hennessy Black have joined together to present a three part celebration to kick of Friday, October 23, 2009 for her birthday and conclude Sunday, October 25th for a series preview/ cover affair.
In the “Still Standing” series, Monica will open her heart and life to viewers every week and take them on her personal journey of survival and enlightenment. Viewers will have the chance to experience the many facets of Monica’s life as she balances family, deals with her own body and health challenges, creates her fifth album and tackles the hardest job of all -
being a full-time mother of two young sons.
“It was very scary stepping into the type of situation that would expose me and my life,” said Monica. “But I think that there are so many kids now that are aspiring to do exactly what I’ve done and I felt like that was worth me putting myself on the line so they would really understand what it’s like to try and juggle both a music career and personal life.”
Join Monica and her celebrity friends as they celebrate her birthday on Friday, October 23, 2009 on the heated top deck of Luckie Food Lounge from 10:00pm - 2:00am. Monica’s celebrity friends help her cut the cake and toast to another year of success.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONICA. Me likey monica a lot. I was watching some ‘living the life’ vids on youtube this morning and she was on a couple. Monica is just genuine and str8 up. I love that about anybody who’s like that.

I think the black stars are hating on her. They better recognize. Us fans watch Wendy and shunning her is shunning us. Monique gets better black guests and her show is hot garbage. For the two days that I watched it, I turned down the volume until someone I liked came on, but Mo still ruined the interview with her stupid questions.
Wendy said Monica would be on next wk I thought she said she had to reschedule and Wendy has to prove she won’t be as messy on TV as she was on her radio show she helped create this situation IMO
@Bird…youare SOO right about that. I tried to watch Monique’s show and didn’t make it past the 5 minute mark. She is too “extra” for me. I can’t take all the hollering to the point you can’t hear the guest.
Wendy’s mess made her a star. Just like TMZ. They respect and use TMZ so why not Wendy? She is still a good interviewer and she is still going to talk about them. They might as well let us hear it from the horse’s mouth. And in Wendy’s case she is only going to be talking about who’s hot at the moment. Her talking about you is a good thing. At this point she has guests on her show that she wouldn’t even waste her time talking about. The current stars are wasting that exposure. But even without them I’m still going to watch my girl because she is entertaining all by her lonesome.

Monique has better guest so I do watch that part of her show but she is way 2 LOUD!
On one hand I hate the fact that these celeb’s are shunning Wendy. On the other hand I hate the fact that she is watering herself down to cater to their needs. Wendy is where she is because of who she is/was. This TV Wendy is a fraction of the Wendy that I grew up listening to.
While I’m happy for her new found success I miss the old Wendy. :bye:
