The buzz in the sports world today is centered around former Celtics star Antoine Walker who had it all and then lost it.
But before I bore you with the details of a fool and his money, loyal reader Markisha alerted us to the fact that Angels player Torii Hunter (pictured right) takes his child support responsibilities very seriously. She said when Hunter found out they didn’t take the over $4,500 dollar a month child support out of his paycheck, he called the child support office to find out why.
Now back to Walker…
According to Yahoo news, in 12 years, Antoine Walker, 33, made more than $110 million playing in the NBA. He spent his money recklessly and lived lavishly high on the hog until one day he woke up broke and owing creditors more than $4 million and faces felony check fraud charges in Las Vegas.
Only a few people who don’t understand the wasteful, fast life these ballers lead are asking how he fell so far from grace.
According to the Boston Globe, Walker’s own mother says he supported an entourage of 70 people including family members who relied on him to pay their bills.
Those people are all gone now. Don’t you chuckle at these rappers who also surround themselves with deadbeat hard legs?
Speaking of Walker’s mom, she once luxuriated in a mansion in the Chicago suburbs that her son built her, complete with an indoor pool, 10 bathrooms, and a full-size basketball court.
Walker lived in a posh condominium in Waltham during the Celtics season. He once owned “two Bentleys, two Mercedes, a Range Rover, a Cadillac Escalade, a bright red Hummer, all tricked out with custom paint jobs, rims, and sound systems at considerable added expense. He also collected top-line watches — Rolexes and diamond-encrusted Cartiers.”
When he wasn’t spending lavishly on himself, he was dropping stacks at the local strip clubs and entertaining his team members and their tricks at star-studded parties a his crib.
All that is over now. Walker’s creditors want their money and they’ve taken him to court to get it. This should teach other wannabe ballers to watch how they spend their loot carelessly. But it won’t — and I’ll be writing about them real soon!

Financing 70 other able-bodied adults? I know he was super young when he started playing, but how come he had nobody close enough to him to tell him the truth about the life he was leading, how come nobody made him watch the MC Hammer CH1 movie? His mama didn’t warn him?
I hope he got a degree so he can go back & get a job, because Antoine doesn’t strike me as a successful sports commentator type.
I said this in the other post. This reminds me of the Eddie Griffin show. He also surrounds himself with a bunch of people/family who needs to get jobs. & when he mentions a job to them they look at him
like he’s crazy. Who supports a boxer that can’t box for 10 years? Kids who have a studio and never released a record? That first episode when they threw that party. People ordering all kindve shyt and looking to foot the bill.
Its sad and you don’t know how bad it can get if you have no control. You truely need to watch the people you surround yourself with.
I thought Hammer thought them a lesson.

I saw this on FOX sports yesterday and I was shocked. It’s pitiful but it happens everyday. These folks grew up without much and they get something and go ape shyt. They don’t realize that it’s not forever. It’s very unfortunate and I hope that dude gets it together. But let’s also take notice of the fact that our broke is not the same as their broke, bankrupt for them means they don’t have enough money to sustain their lifestyle.

antoine has been getting the side eye from me for about 15 years now. i’ve never been able to forget seeing his then age 7-9 y/o son on 20/20 or some show looking just like him. the poor kid just wanted a relationship with his dad.

Yep he is still playing Ball. He is actually ok when it come’s to commentating. He use to do it in the summer leagues for the CHI. Hopefully he can bounce back
From what I understand, the NBA and the NFL both have some type of rookie “financial aid” workshop that is supposed to teach these kids how to manage their money. Obviously, they don’t listen.
I grew up without a lot, but I damn sure wouldn’t squander it on multiple cars and able-bodied fools that can get a job. And a house for my mom w/ 10 bathrooms?? She ain’t got that much piss in her!
And I doubt if anyone in the family ever told him to pull back or save - hell, why would they and miss out on THEIR pocket getting lined??

Thanks about the financial work shops. The ballers should not ever be broke. $110 mill. I can’t even grasp the thought of spending all that money. I will never let my so called friends make me go for broke. Are they so busy spending money and buying friends that they don’t know that tv can be educational. How may times have we seen shows with celebs who go broke buying lavish unnecessary things. Why does anyone need marble floors? Don’t these ppl realize they hit the Mega Lotto and how it can be a curse if you don’t handle your finances correctly. It has been a proven fact that money does not make you happy and those who get it who were already level headed before the money truck stopped by will reamin the same and still have the money decades later.
