It looks like Tiffany Evans’ words are ringing true: the evil within the music industry is being exorcised.
It was just yesterday that we asked the question, “what if Lil Wayne does go to jail?” As it turns out, Lil Wayne is being measured for his prison jumpsuit as I type this.
According to the AJC, the rapper, real name Dwayne Carter, pleaded guilty in a NY courtroom today to felony gun possession charges. He has agreed to a one-year prison sentence. The rapper had faced a minimum 3-year sentence on the charge.
Wayne was in court yesterday to hear DNA evidence that would tie him to a gun that was found onboard his tour bus in 2007.
When the judge warned Wayne that he would not be able to withdraw the plea as some people try to do, the somber rapper said, “I’m not one of those people.”
Wayne also faces felony drug possession and weapons charges in Arizona stemming from an arrest last year. Those charges carry a maximum 15-year sentence. He has pleaded not guilty in that case
Carter will remain free on bond while he awaits his sentencing in February 2010.
