Local artists Ludacris, left, rapper Big Boi, center, and singer Akon and his brother Bu Thiam (not pictured), put their busy schedules on hold yesterday to help distribute 2000 turkeys along with hundreds of pounds of greens, sweet potatoes and fixings to the needy at South Cobb high school in Austell, GA (a suburb of Atlanta).

Mayoral frontrunner Kasim Reed, left, posing with Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, center, and Akon Thiam, is hoping for a record turnout of voters for the mayoral runoff election on Dec 1st. Atlanta's entertainment community will benefit greatly if Kasim wins because he plans to rescind the controversial 2:30 a.m. nightclub curfew which will boost the local economy.

If Mary Norwood wins the runoff, she will become ATL's first ever white female mayor and her election will end a 30-year run of black mayors in Atlanta.

Akon's brother Bu Thiam, who recently celebrated his new gig as VP at Def Jam, called me personally last week to say he planned to take out ads on Sandrarose.com. I asked him if I could have his Lamborghini instead, but he politely declined my request. At least I tried.

LOL Sandra@" I asked him if I could have his Lamborghini instead, but he politely declined my request."

  • Anna

They are giving away "Greens" with a Turkey. Who said we were in a recession? LOL.

  • mirsmommy

Love to hear about Black celebrities doing a good deed. :)

  • jah

LOL@asking him for his Lambo. Nothing wrong with trying.

**Off topic** ASK A NATIVE AMERICAN WHAT THANKSGIVING MEANS TO THEM. A black person celebrating thanksgiving is like white folks celebrating the arrival of the first kidnapped afrikans brought on these shores as commodities.

european americans created thanksgiving to give thanks to their god for for giving them the strength to slaughter native ameircans. thanksgiving is the celebration of their victor and the mass murder of native americans.

    GOD BLESS AMERICA!

  • pointhimout

go mary borders. kasim will lose, sorry. all the corrupt stuff, fulton county's debt is crazy, it's time for a change. im simply not for voting for people simply because they're black.

  • waterlily_76

    That's good, kudos to them.

Forget the ad...break me off with the lamborhini.... :lolol: I know that's right Sandra, it won't hurt a girl to ask right?

  • Dymond41

Unfortunately Point...my Dad says Kasim is a shoe in for the Mayor. The City is VERY CORRUPT! He has all these high hopes for opening closed parks...and Kudos if he can make it happen...but The City is in for another long 6 years of bs when he wins.

I LOVE that they gave out greens and sweet potatoes too! That's beautiful.
Neither of the mayoral candidates sound legit!

  • Sheena215

LUDA LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER NOW THAT HE CUT HIS HAIR OFF. I LOVE THAT HE IS GIVING BACK AND MAKING MAJOR MOVES IN MOVIES AND ON WAX. HE LOOK EXTRA GOOD IN LETOYA LUCKETT VIDEO.

The Afrikans looked photoshopped intp those pics.

The Minister says Collard Greens are not good for our digestive systems.

@Sandra, did you see the clip where that famous white country cook got hit in the nose with a ham? She and other volunteers were unloading frozen hams for Hosea Feed The Hungry and they decided to throw the hams at each other. Yeah, that right. They were throwing the donated hams that are going to feed thousands of Black folks. Blank stare.

  • laterthannever

    #12, Farrakhan?

Aside from all of the porky greasiness some people cook them in, that seems like a reach to me. Leafy greens = better for us than most of what we eat.

  • jah

give them turkey and collard greens and sweet potatoes...they'll wake up the next day still relying on MASSA CHARLIE for their next check.

how bout our celebs impress me by coming together and forming a small business micro loan program, that could give some of our less fortunate brothers and sisters the opportunity to transcend their situations?

turkey and sweet potatoes and some greens don't impress me.

laterthannever, after most of our folks are done putting all kinds of issh in those greens, it will have very little Nutritious content. this is why more and more young black are suffering from lifestyle DIS-EASES such as diebetes

I saw the video on other blogs but I didn't watch it because I don't know who she is. I don't watch much TV. I prefer going to the movies instead.

    the end.

  • NicGal

It's good when anyone volunteers their time and money to help others less fortunate. Kudos to these guys!

  • qtipthecat

Ya'll don't know who Paula Dean is? I find that hard to believe. They were not throwing the Hams because they were giving them to black people. That is crazy. They were throwing them to each other down an assembly line. She just wasn't ready to catch it. And black people are not the only people who are poor or hungry right now. The recession is hitting everyone, Black, Latino, Asian and yes even the white folks. BTW every time I see Akon and his brother's greasy a$$, I want to go wash my hands. They are so gross. Akon has no talent at all and all his music sounds the same and it sucks!

  • http://sandrarose.com Ms.kaylamomma

    @ Attorney Mom and Sandra

That was Paula Deen and she has a famous restaurant (Lady & Son's) here in Savannah. It is has the best food. And her sons are fine.

I did see the video and it was hilarious. Somebody is getting fired. LOL!!!

  • qtipthecat

I ate at The Lady and Sons when I was TDY to Savannah and it mede me want to move there one day. That was the best food ever, plus Savannah makes California look like crap.

    How sweet of them...2000 turkeys...now that is a giveaway :) !!!

Glad to see them involved within the community :)

  • mistarie

Damn Ja. Way to piss on my cornflakes. Though I agree with some of the things you said...you didn't have to do it like that. Happy Holidays to you too. Damn!

  • Redeemed777

    @JAH

    Thanks for that history!

I knew there had to be a reason my soul never really got into the whole Thanksgiving Spirit.

I aint gonna lie though, I'm still gonna stuff my belly!!

  • SouthernPrincess

    Luda is a cutie
Akon's brother seems a tad bit "uncomfortable"
Kasim Reed...something rubs me wrong about this guy. If he is elected mayor of Atl will he be Kilpatrick II?

Did you see KIlpatrick's interview. Attorney Mom has it on her blog.

I am thankful for Sandra posting that pic of that mouth. oooowee I find Bigboi soooooodammmmmmsexxxxyyyyyyy

    *mouthwatering*

The origin of thankgsiving story is not what I've always heard. I heard they were starving(pilgrims) and the american indians gave them food. They had a dinner to thank them.
Tho we all know how they later showed their thanks.

If you read up on the pagan origins of Holidays you will find that most of them are contrary to what we believe now.
Jesus Christ was not born on Dec 25 we don't know his true birthday. When the big coversion to Christianity was coming about they combined a big pagan holiday with the celebration of Jesus to move along the conversion Folks did not want to give up their big party. We all now how halloween started.

IMO that doesn't matter. If we get a day off to cook and eat and be with family thats fine and thats what it means to me now.

  • pointhimout

#21 i know exactly who paula dean is. her sons try to cook too. i saw the clip of that ham hitting her in the face. not cool. i dont think it was intentional though.

  • vetta

That was a very sweet and kind thing for them to do. Nicgal#20--I agree completely. Anyway, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!!

  • http://talkingwithtami.com/blog talkingwithtami

Im glad they could come together to do this event, that was nice of them

  • Nthabi

@Sandra LOL auntie, if that were my Lambo you know I'd've given it to you.

I didn't know Akon's brother was VP at Def Jam. Way to bring up the family. Akon, with all of his sexcapades and sowing his oats in every continent on he globe, at least mans up about family. Ugh, I said "at least" now leave me alone.

Happy Thanksgiving Sandra Rose Fam!
