The Ludacris Foundation and Sandrarose.com are teaming up to take one lucky male winner on a $500 shopping spree!
The private shopping spree will take place next Wednesday, April 21 at a private location in Atlanta. The winner (and his guest) will be invited VIP guests of Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, actress Gabrielle Union and DTP CEO Chaka Zulu.
In addition to new clothes, the winner will be presented with a limited edition Polo Purple Label tie designed exclusively by Ludacris and Chaka Zulu. No expense has been spared in the creation of the fabrics nor in the making of the actual tie.
The fabric will be woven in England, and the tie will be hand made in Italy. The fabric is 100% silk. The tie is black with a slim purple stripe, and an exclusively designed Ludacris Foundation crest jacquard woven into the fabric. A special label which says: “The Ludacris Foundation A Limited Edition of One Hundred” will be woven into the small end of the tie.
The tie will retail for $200. One hundred percent of the net proceeds from sales of the tie will be donated to The Ludacris Foundation. A special card will be created to be included in each tie box that speaks to the meaning of the crest; including the Dove, The Hand in Armor and The Gold Chevron symbols on the crest.
Chaka Zulu, CEO of DTP, has personally purchased 107 of the ties — at a cost of over $20,000 — to present to the entire graduating class of Chicago’s Urban Prep charter school, who have all been accepted to colleges of their choice.
The recession has hit men, blacks and Hispanics especially hard. So we want to do something for a male reader who has recently lost his job, or is currently going on interviews for a new job.
To win, just leave a comment explaining why you should win — or if you’re a female: why you think your husband/boyfriend should win.
The winner will be selected tomorrow, April 16. Special thanks to Jamal Coleman (pictured below) of J. Coleman Presents; and The Ludacris Foundation!
I’d give anything to have a peen right now.
No fair! I want to go on a shopping spree! How many males are registered to Sandra Rose?
Sandra, I think my husband should win because he’s in the Army and travels a lot and rarely gets time to take care of himself. He was telling me last week he wanted to update his wardrobe. Please pick my husband
Plus I would like to say that my husband isn’t genetically related to my daughter, but he’s the only father she knows and he loves her with all his heart. It would be a great fathers day gift
@sandra I am looking to intern w/a non profit or get a job now that I finished my masters. Do you know if Luda is hiring or if I email you can you give me a name and contact number?
Also I 2nd the nomination of Ebonys hubby who serves our country proudly(is this what it feels like to be Patrotic)
Who goes around changing their name by deed poll to Chaka Zulu???? How narcistic is that? BTW it’s Tshaka/Shaka, not Chaka…there is no click of the toungue in it. Typical, not only does the west steal our resources but our names too, then they go and shange spellings to ‘westernize’ them!!! If you are going to adopt a name, keep it real….
If that’s his real birth name and he indeed is of Zulu decent then I sincerely apologize my brother.
Venting finished….
When are we having a female competition too? And I hope it’s not promoted by Tiny or Lil Kim please. Since you and stylist Sarah are chummy these days, please have a word?
Thanks
I would like to nominate my boyfriend for this prize. We have a child together and she is our world. She was born last July. Although we thought we had all our ducks in a row, we haven’t been able to dodge all the trials that life throws. He has been searching for a job and is currently being considered for a caretaking position for the mentally challenged. What stood out to me about this prize is that he would be able to update his wardrobe. He used to be heavy into the urban wear with the sneakers and all and has recently shown interest in the “grown and sexy” menswear. I of course was thrilled until he lost his job and with the new baby, the plans to update have been put on the backburner. I think that this would definitely be an awesome pump to his morale. That in turn will show in his demeanor when interviewing for these positions. Thank you for offering this opportunity.

Hello, I would like to enter my husband to be considered in this contest. We got married Dec 2008. I lost my job two days before we got married. I have since not been able to find employment. For most of 2009 I was sick and finally a few months ago I was admitted into the hospital where I stayed for two weeks. My husband has had to take on more than one job in order to support us including my 15 year old son (who is not his biological child). While I was in the hospital my husband took a leave of absence from his job in order to be at my side at the hospital. I thank God for me and I am constantly wondering if I would ever be able to do something for my husband to show him how much he is appreciated. I just found out a few days ago that I have to go back to the hospital for another surgey in a few weeks. As a result my husband is looking for a 2nd job so that it will help cover all of my medical bills.
It’s our faith in God that has kept us sane and our bond very strong, however my husband truly deserves this shopping spree. He has been wearing the same clothes for years bcos he is constantly sacrificing for myself and my son’s needs. He stopped doing simple things like going to the barber shop to get haircuts bcos we can’t afford, he’s had to learn to cut his own hair. I hear all the time that women believe that there are no good men left but I can honestly say that my husband is one of the best men that I know. I truly hope that he is given the opportunity to enjoy this shopping spree. Thank you.
awww @Ebony, that’s love. I vote for your hubby too
LAWD take me now, I
with Daisy? These are the end times y’all, get right with God
I nominate Ebony’s hubby! Even though he’s not unemployed, he deserves some appreciation for sacrificing time with his family to serve this country.

Are you a female?? You sure don’t sound like a MAN with all that b*tching.
If his Mama wanted to name him BOOMCHAKALAKABOOM, then why you worried about it??
If you dont like how we do it in the USA, get ur ass on a boat and ride out. Visit iloveafrica.com, not sandrarose.com
Cool contest. So, we can’t know the meaning of the symbols unless we either win or purchase a tie?
I love Ludacris!!!
Ludacris has been giving a lot lately. Props tp him. I love a giving man.
truthhurts story was touching.
@SugarPieHoneybunn
I am not in the US of A! Also, come bloody on…. some names are sacred. Pure and simple. Call your child Britney, Gaga, Beyonce or whatever but names like Tshaka Zulu, Winston Churchill, Malcom X, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela…PHULEEEZE who are you kidding?
Anyhow, why would I paddle my way out of USA in a boat chica? Stop believing national Geographic and get yourself a flight to the motherland. Some of us are rolling in it and you can only dream of having the life style we enjoy on our jaunts to Africa.
I vote for Ebony’s husband. Being military myself, I know how hard it is to be away from your family and to put your life on the line for your country, even if you don’t agree with all the politics. I am proud of him and I don’t even know him.
@ Rene @ KaraZ @ Daisy
*tears up* You know ya’ll my twitter fam. I didn’t read the qualifications for the contest
but you know I appreciate all of you .
Oh and before you ask ‘why live in the west then’…. It is perfectly normal for those who can afford it, to live outside the country, make money elsewhere and enjoy the advantages afforded by international trade and foreign exchange markets.
It’s the best of both worlds really.
If it bothers you then feel free to throw up in the nearest toilet bowl.
Goodnight peeps. It’s been good.
Thanks for the opportunity! I will like to send this for my (oldest) 19 year old son. He has had a job since he was 15 working at Krogers for 2 1/2 years. He resigned for his senior year in high school to continue playing football. He played hard, he even got up on weekends to help special children learn to play sports with his coach. My son didn’t get a scholorship for sports like we prayed for. He is in college now and I’m very proud of him. He is having a hard time finding a job. He tried to get his job back at Krogers but they are not hiring. He has been on a couple of interviews but no luck yet. He is really starting to see how cold this world is but he is NOT giving up. A little help would really mean a lot to up his gear on these interviews. Please pick him….Thanks Luda & Sandra
um sorry rene, who dat? the caramel one in your avatar, he’s CA-YUUTE!!

SPHoneyBun, you showed your azz with that comment.

Oh and one more thing Sandra and Luda….I never seen a young man his age that is stable and work as hard as him. Thx
@ qtipthacat
Thank You!!! Your in the military? That means your in my heart and in my prayers
@ Thando
Sweetie, I have been around the world, trust, and I dont watch National Geographic.
I really dont care where u live dude or how you make your money. It kills me when “some Africans” come over here and try to “kick some knowledge” and tell Black Americans how we are supposed to do some sh*t. Yall aint no better. Yall just didnt get caught.
So you trying to tell me I cant name my kids Martin, Malcolm, Winston, or Nelson??? Bullsh*t!! The Man (Chaka Zulu) obviously thought enough of Shaka Zulu to name himself after him, so why you got beef. You act like he dissing dude. Get off ur f*ckin high horse.
Ok, wow these are hard times!! I can’t imagine. I vote for Ebony’s hubby too. I understand he’s trying to do better for his family. He’s making the sacrifice.
Ok, since you said he can be interviewing for a new position I nominate @Ebonys hubby too. He is currently enlisted and going through the process of becoming a Warrant Officer. He is doing everything within his power to increase his rank and his pay. In the military an increase in rank also means an increase in deployments and all the stress that comes with it. This young man is more than willing to accept the cons of becoming an Army officer because his responsibilites as a husband and provider take precedence over all things. He is the definition of a good man. He would never ask for a pat on the back but I think he deserves it.
@Ebony is a recently laid off teacher married to a soldier. They both deserve a big THANK YOU!
@Karaz I aint thinking about you we have agreed in the past although not often
@ VIBABY you made me cry @ Mskaylamomma you know your my girl. Every time I have a problem I come to you e-hug
I nominate @Mskaylamomma @Vibaby @ Karaz @ Renegade hubbies because they always tell me stories about their hubbies and I love black love. I’m not going to tell all their business though
Disclaimer : excuse my typos and misspelled words I’m always posting from my blackberry
I also nominate Daisy, she’s the most positive person on SR :woot: pinkalicious!!!!!
I NOMINATE….THEY ALL SPLIT THE MONEY…..
500 isn’t much but hey something is better than nothing…
Sandra please split the money I don’t know how you can choose..I dont know how people can do contests and not give everyone ..I feel for everyone but thats me….
I know there can only be one winner but dang…
Any who good deed Sandra and Luda foundation ….
I’d like to unselfishly nominate myself. I’m a senior undergrad student about to graduate and enter the “Real World”. For years I have never had the pleasure of treating myself to nice things, with all the school expenses and tuition I’ve had to incur over the years, it was nearly illogical and impossible to do such a thing. With graduation around the corner, and the job market still looking meek for new graduates, I really think getting the opportunity to obtain fine, stylish, new clothes would greatly raise my confidence level as I enter into the next phase of life.
I nominate Ebony’s husband cause it’s my perogative I can do what I wanna do.
@Patrick are you new? If so
@Ebony thanks honey but I still vote for your hubby
@ gypsy
Hey chicka *waves hard* I sent you a request on twitter
Dear Sandra ~ I think my husband deserves to win this shopping spree. Even though he works very hard for a local sheriffs department he doesn’t make a whole lot of money. He very often does with out so my son (who is not biologically his) and I can have things we want and need! In fact the other day 1 of his boys was picking because he said he wears the same shirt EVERY time they go out. LOL! He is a wonderful father and husband. He is a hard worker, honest and responsible and should receive a nice treat for all the good he does!!!
Sandra and Luda,
I think my fiance deserves to win this because of everything he’s been through the last few years. We have three kids and although he works the temp jobs or receives his unemployment when the job ends…he ALWAYS makes sure we have money for food and bills. This usually means that he has little to no money left for himself.
He has not upgraded his wardrobe since 2006 and although I’ve tried to get him pieces here and there on his birthday & Christmas-clothes are easily worn out when it’s all you’ve got to wear to work as well. Either way, he’s never complained about it although I know he wants to dress nicer when we go out.
He’s a wonderful father, a great fiance’, and excellent person at heart. Although there has been some underhanded people trying to keep him from getting a full time job, he still works the part time in hopes that someone will give him a chance.
He’s currently job searching for a full time job and I know some new clothes would definitely help him in his confidence. We love him a lot and definitely want to thank you and Luda for the opportunity!
Dear Sandra, and Luda,
I just want to say this is truly touching what you guys are doing. There many people like you. I think I should win. I havent had much at all in life. I was basically dealt a bad card. I just accepted it and hoped for the best. I am a full time college student/athlete. I am majoring in Pre-med Biology.I have to work because my mother is sick, and disabled. She cannot provide anything for me or my brothers. I kind feel looked down upon from alot of people, because of the lack of things I do not posses. It is hard trying to make good grades, and doing sports. I lost my job because of my busy schedule.
If I win this it would impact my life for the better, and know there are good people in the world who care for others. This opportunity will help me mature into a successful male.
Thank you Sandra, and Luda.
Wow, there are some truly amazing men, husbands, sons, fiances, boyfriends, etc. on this site. I wish that all of you could win. I’d also like to nominate Ebony’s hubby. I’m the daughter of a soldier and a teacher so the military and educators are near and dear to my heart. I don’t think we could ever thank your husband and the other men and women in uniform enough for what they do for us every day.
Sandra-
This is real cool. I started to nominate my boyfriend (simply because his Business-Casual wardrobe is pathetic) but I realized that after reading this. there are way more people who are in need of this than he is. My boyfriend just needs to get up and iron his clothes or take them to the cleaners instead of waking up at 6:40am.. knowing that we are suppose to for leave work at 6:50am… so if he just take the time, his wardrobe could be on point.
Unfortunately, Ebony has already won a contest on Sandrarose.com. So we have to give others a chance to win. But thanks, Ebony, for participating!
This is a nice giveaway.
I am a male. And I think all the nominees are worthy of the prize.Very touching stories.
If I may, I give support to Patrick. Although I’ve never converse with him on this site or any other. I remember what is was like to be a senior in college getting ready to go into the “Real World”.
Or to the other young male that’s in college that couldn’t get his job back at Kroger.
If either you are in the DMV area I have some neckties and shirts and one suit that I can donate.
Best Wishes everyone
I hope that it is not over because I would like to nominate ACEMASTER.
am i the only atlanta male on here? do i win by default
I like what Patrick had to say. I vote for any young man who wants to buy professional clothing to enter the “real world.” Affordable but durable work clothes.
@ Sandra Rose
oh i should win because that purple label tie matches the purple label shirt i have on right now lol and because i support sandra rose because she always tells the truth :yea:
This is a nice giveaway and very hard decision. All of the men sound deserving, so why don’t Luda just give all of them a shopping spree? I think he can afford it.
@Ebony…sorry for being nosey but what contest did you win?
@eastpoint anybody who wears purple label doesn’t need to win
u need to be offering to donate to the cause and
at your sandra always tells the truth comment always may be reaching
I vote for Patrick since Ebony is disqualified
Well I would nominate my sweetie pie (even though we’re not married) But we dont live in GA, and I doubt he’ll drive all the way to GA for $500 worth of clothes
But
to all the ladies and their stories on their men. Its GREAT to know that there are still good guys out there!
@ Ebony – I was really rooting for you up there, lol, and I know how you feel. My boyfriend doesnt even have any children, yet he’s opened his mind and heart to my son without a hesitation. I LOVES ITS

I still

@floridachick
$500 aint nothing to luda but how do you know how many $500 shopping sprees he is giving? this is for sandra readers but you dont know the scope of people the contest is extending 2
@eastpoint u sound like a buppie pipe down just cause one doesn’t own designer clothes doesn’t mean they never heard of them before or can’t rock them if they win. Rememba its a blessing to be a BLESSING
@ ms. truth – I love Luda in a suit
@sandra if u can produce an xtra tix to the event I would love 2 go and network please n thank you
@ east – I have no idea, nor do I really care. As you can see, I was cosignin someone else’s comment.
*waving* Heyyyy SR Fam.
All stories are beyond touching. Sandra, how can you choose? It’s so hard.
Ebony, even though you/your Hubby can’t participate, I still offer my prayers, support, and best wishes to you, Hubby, and your little girl.
TruthHurts, Patrick, acemaster, brownlovely, sugar-booger, and necelove, good luck and best wishes to you all as well. I hope and pray everything works out in your favors.
I would like to nominate my brother (is that allowed?). He has been looking for employment for almost a year and has had no luck. Right now he is relying on my mom mostly to help him out. He has two daughters. A new suit would really boost his confidence and give him the confidence he needs to continue to get his life together.
**waves* Heyyyyyyyyyy mirs
And I do wish everyone can win but ….. I guess they can’t
@ Sandra
I would like to nominate my Dad to win at least a new suit for church, because I can’t bare for him to continue attending church looking like a Mississippi pimp. The light purple, light blue, olive green, and mustard colored suits with the matching long trench coats are a
. He already drives the long Stinkin Lincoln, now all he needs is a cane, a feather in his hat, and a few hoes walkin behind him, and he’ll have the complete pimp look on lock!!!
This cannot continue!!! Please help him!!!!
I’m just jokin.
I just wanted to give myself a little giggle to lighten the mood for my SR Fam that are currently facing rough times.
*give myself and others a little giggle*
Heyyyy Missy
excuse me…the tropical bag of skittles because the suits are so old, they’re all dull looking now.
@Mirs
someone daddy is looking like that for real…
You know what that sounds like my second cousin twice removed daddy….He has a mean limp in his walk and says
NAH MEAN
SALUTE!!!
Oh wait thats Rocko….
ms.truth Says:
@ mirs…at least he’s matching with his colors, my grandpa will be quick throw on 3 of those colors together! looking like a bag of skittles

My Dad took the Coodinate (c) John Witherspoon, a little too serious. He even has the shoes that match the suits.

YES!! wait until he gets into his 80s or 90s…those suits are going to start mismatching, even the different color shoes…I don’t know how many times my grandpa has walked in with a blue shoe and black shoe
i looooove him so much though.
Awww I don’t know how Sandra will be able to choose, everyone has amazing stories. Prays that GOD renews the faith of everyone that are going through something. May he meet all of your needs *he knows what they are* and that you are blessed to take care of yourself and families financially and in good health with peace of mind.
Awww Man. I’m sorry Ebony. I had to vote for my brother in arms anyway.
I really hope Truthhurts wins!! I’m praying for you. I got my fingers and toes crossed.
I guess I will just let GOD choose then.
Hello All. Mirsmommy, what a hoot, I’m still laughing! Sounds like you have a wonderful, loving, non-dressing father. LOL My mother, God rest her soul, used to come to DC looking like she straight out the country: plaid polyester dresses, plastic shoes, hair all over her head but I loved her dearly. And when she got older, she lived to be 76, she was a fine dresser, couldn’t tell her nothin’! How I miss this wise and beautiful woman. Cherish the time you have with loved ones, it’s shorter than you think. Happy Friday family and KEEP HOPE ALIVE, KEEP HOPE ALIVE, KEEP HOPE ALIVE! And keep the laughter coming! Peaceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
This one is easy for me. I nominate my brother. A couple of months ago, he reached an agreement with his eight year old son’s mother. His son is now living with my brother. My brother not only cares for his own son, but helps me to raise mine as well. Because of my work/school schedule, he picks up and takes my three year-old to school as well. He takes both of the boys on fishing trips. Teaches them life lessons–he’s starting early–and won’t hesistate to put them back in line, if they happen to get out. He does not have to do so much for my son, but he saw the need and stepped in. Because of his strength and character, I no longer look for things in men that have no true value. I must admit that I am a better woman, because of this man. *Even if he does not win, I want him to read this. I am so PROUD of you brother! I love you and thank you for everything you do. I am tired of you rocking that Alabama Coogi though**
Awwww @ BabaBeauty, that gave me goosebumps!!!!!
((grabs cell phone to text brother that I love him and miss him))
Sorry about all the commas…some were grammitical others were for emphasis–touchy subject
@FloriaChick
Family love is so awesome and very much needed! Wow, I really love my fam.
@Bama, your brother is truly a good man.
I just scrolled up. Thanks Ebony for the prayers. I will need them even more in August.
Ummmm I nominate ME! But I don’t want a shopping spree, how about a $500 scholarship. LSU not playing games in these tough times and well I have clothes.
I actually would like to put my friends new fiance in for the prize. My bff of over 10 years finally met the man of her dreams and did not have to put in any work to show that she is a great person. He makes her happy and she makes him happy. I want to recommend that he win because I just finished going thru a horrible break up and I had both my BFF and him in my corner. I stayed with both of them while trying to figure out where my next move was going to be and thru it all he always asked my bff how I was doing or what could be done to make my day any better. I was treated like one of the family. He is planning on going back to school for an engineering degree and this gift would be a great way to start off a new school wardrobe.
BamaBeauty Says:

That was not safe for work. I had to grab a tissue. I know where you are coming from, my brother is my hero and I don’t have a problem letting him know.
Families are soooo beautiful!!!! My Dad helps us (me and Hubby) with our boys. He picks them up from school if we need him to, babysits, take all the kids to amusements parks. Yes, my Dad is 56, and still gets on roller coasters.
Whatever he can to help. I love you, Dad. Even tho your wardrobe is crazy.
BamaBeauty, your brother seems like a strong and loving man. Best wishes to him.
Civil, best wishes to you, too.
I vote for everyone!!!
My hubby read the site today and he said:
Thanks for trying babe. Tell everyone I said thanks for all the great comments. Let them I don’t just serve for the country, I do it for my family as well. Quote me on this: “if I had a $1 my family will always get 75”
He also said if he would have won, he would have tried to spend it on Kennedy
I
my man
@ebony
ask him why his family cant get the whole dollar?
lol JK
You got yourself a keeper Miss Lady!!!!
@ eastpoint
Damn he gotta eat too, cause I don’t know how to cook
Hello All. Mirsmommy, you are so fortunate to have such a wonderful dad and such a good relationship with him. I hope you 2 have many more yrs together as a family. My Dad, God rest his soul, was a mean dad but as I grew older, I grew to appreciate him more. I realized that growing up a black man in Jim-Crow VA wasn’t the easiest thing to do. Besides, he was never physically abusive to our mother nor us. He paid the bills and kept good food on our table and trust me, he made little to nothing, and worked hard all his life. (So many fathers can’t be found today to buy potted meat for their many families.)And I see that your good relationship with your father helped you find a good husband. You are truly blessed. Take care family and stay safe. We are living in dangerous times!
is the nominee supposed to be a father?
Wow to cute, I won’t nominate hubby he don’t need no more clothes…
I just had to tell @East to #satdown! :lolol:
These stories are absolutely great!!!!
Congrats to ACEMASTER!!!
Everyone sounding very deserving with their touching stories.
Reminds me how truly blessed my hubby and I really are.
