The news came as a shock to friends of Corey McGriff, better known as DJ Megatron. The popular BET 106 & Park DJ was found lying face up in the street in the early morning hours of Sunday near his Staten Island brownstone.
According to police, McGriff was on his cell phone with a male friend when he was accosted by 3 unknown males who shot him in the chest and fled the scene on foot. The unidentified friend told police that McGriff said he was on his way to buy weed when the phone went dead. The friend said he didn’t hear a gunshot.
Police confirmed the 32-year-old DJ had been walking when he was shot once in the chest, but a motive has not yet been established. McGriff’s cell phone was found near his body.
According to the NY Post, McGriff had $1 in his jeans pocket when he was found dead in the street. His bills had apparently been paid by a “female gal pal.”
The shooting may have been witnessed by McGriff’s 4-year-old son, who, wide awake at 2 a.m., stood in the doorway of McGriff’s brownstone and watched his father cross the street as the 3 males approached him. The boy had been left home alone.

Reasons why I think people should be required to pass IQ & common sense tests before being allowed to keep their babies.
I think they should have a written test, and a “field situation” test of all parents before their child is born. If they don’t pass the test by the 7th month of the pregnancy, the baby should be given (at birth) to a couple who is UNABLE to conceive and has passed the tests.
And I’m also for “excessive breeding” sterilization. Meaning: “Cookie in the projects on govt funds with 5 kids….” = “that bish tubes should be BURNED!!”

I don’t know. He was killed right outside his house. Those people were coming for him. MAYBE he told his friend on the phone that he was going to cop, but that doesn’t appear to be the truth. I’m not even conceeding he told his friend that. Why didn’t the friend hear the shots and why did the phone go dead? Did the assailants take the time to take the phone and hang it up before shooting him? I really think the person on the phone lured him outside and now he’s lying to the cops.

True- and it happens. My best friend’s boyfriend was shot & killed as he was selling weed to somebody across the strret from his apartment building back in 04. She was the last person he had talked to on his phone about 20 mins before it happened. they showed up at her house FIRST and THEN came back and requestioned her several times more.

I’m going to go ahead and say– PEOPLE NEED TO STOP DISRESPECTING THE DEAD. Just say DJ Megatron killed in Staten Island– PERIOD. Whether or not YOU knew him personally- there are a lot of people who did know him and who DO read this blog. That man is a father, son, brother, and everything else to someone so don’t get on this site and slander his name. Corey was not on a weed run- he was standing in front of his home on the phone! And if he was on a weed run– Is that what’s important right now? He was a positive young man that was a good influence on children not just in Staten Island but in New York City. It’s all fun and games to poke at Rihanna and Bey… But to get up here and disrespect the dead and imply that he left his son home alone- saying he should have stayed indoors at those hours followed by a smiley face, is dangerous territory. Just because some senseless coward with a gun decided to go and pop that night does not mean Mega was up to no good. How about you slander the person who did this. Or write an insightful article about crime in our inner city urban areas? Or an article about the effects that this may have on this child if he indeed was awake when his father was slaughtered in front of their home! How about you try to be a part of the solution? It’s obvious no one knows the whole/true story. Why are we assuming that he even left, yet alone went on a weed run. Could it be possible that he just went out to his car for whatever reason, could be the point that the door was still open because he was coming right back. Or even if weed was involved, could it be possible that his weed man came to him, and he just ran out for a sec to make that exchange. Either case, why are we assuming facts from this one article who are speculating theirselves?
