i wanted to register on your site but i couldn’t.your followers are fuck in idiots.. to say my seed is brainwashed…she half white and things of that nature.. we r trying to create change in the way our children are educated and this is what she gets from so called blk folk.

I graduated from an HBCU, Howard University to be exact, and I wouldn’t trade in my experience for anything! Howard has produced more African American doctorate degrees than any institution in the world. Maybe he should do more research and stop focusing on what the “white man” did in the past but rather focus on how he can help his daughter maximize her potential.

I mean she’s what we would classify as a child prodigy/genius because of her academic achievements at such a very young age. HOWEVER, “Ignorance” has no barriers. As an elementary principal, I do think that people should demonstrate a little more compassion when speaking on other people’s children. I don’t think that people were directly insulting the little girl, but there were attacks at her alleged upbringing, which is to be expected, but it can feel a little harsh. I’m not a fan of children skipping multiple grades, but how quickly we forget that Dr. Martin Luther King graduated from Morehouse at the age of 16…..
If this child is truly a prodigy, then I hope she gets the same opportunities, that white prodigies are offered. Although, I’m not sure why her acceptance was revoked, if it was due to her father’s belief system, I think that they should have done that research before accepting her. The purpose of an admission office is to take the time needed to identify strong candidates. I imagine that, the university was completely aware of the child’s age. That in itself warranted intense research to make 100% sure, the child was academically and socially prepared for the endeavor.
If something happended after the acceptance, new information, or actions taken, then that is unfortunately what happens, but it doesn’t appear to be that way. It sounds like the case of a completely unorganized admissions office. Having a college admission revoked would be heartwrenching for any individual, especially a 13 year old child. With limited information, my gut would be to place blame on the university for extending the offer from the onset. Moving forward, I hope the university puts policy in place on the acceptance of underaged students,so that they can become better prepared within the context of decision making.
You should go to school where you can get the most opportunities in your future. When it comes to engineering, programming, IT, etc. HBCU’s are not top picks. Companies look at schools like GA Tech, every school has it own expertise but at the end it is about your knowledge and experience.
But I have seen where people look at Spelman more like a community college and it seems only to be “prestigious” in the black community. Also in the corporate world the language and color is green. If you can fit into the culture and can do the job they don’t care.
I play an intregal part in the hiring process in programming, IT and web development and Indians seem to dominate the engineering platforms and barely can speak english and graduted from schools somewhere in India I never heard of however when it comes to doing the actual work they are a lot of time a lot more qualified. So as long as you get the right type of education it really doesn’t matter where you go. Schools like Harvard have a more studious environment and money to make ideas happen. However, just like the best ball players come from the hood, if you are dedicated to your studies and want to become top notch you can do it anywhere.

when i remarked how successful ga tech’s engineering program was in terms of recruiting blacks, 3 of the 4 guys i was talking to came through this program. they were morehouse students. only 1 was originally a tech student. they kinda laughed because tech gets the opportunity to brag about diversity through this program.

mlk went to college @ 15 or 16 he did not graduated until he was 18
@Free – it also says that they will receive their Bachelor’s at the home college but the engineering degree will be from Tech. In so many words general studies are being conducted at their home school but the engineering specific curriculum are being taught at Tech.
Many students will now go to a community college and then transfer to a different school to complete their studies because for one it saves money. For instance many people would go to Georgia Perimeter and then transfer to Georgia State so they don’t have to pay the GSU tuition for 4 years.
I would also assume that GA Tech will take the credit for the engineering degree if they are the ones teach it and issue the degree. It’s no different if you go to a school for your general studies but then go for your law or medical degree at a school that specializes in it.
