Lil Wayne: “Drake is not my competition, I’m the guy’s boss”
Young Money Records owner Lil Wayne put the smack down on his employee, Drake, during a cover interview for VIBE magazine’s October/November issue, due out in October.
When VIBE asked the platinum rapper if he felt intimidated by Drake’s meteoric success, Weezy’ revealed his own insecurity:
VIBE: You mentioned how humbled you were at the success of “She Will.” Drake, who wrote and performs the song’s chorus, has now become a platinum star in his own right. Do you look at the guy and say, “Wow, I helped create a monster, I have to stay on my toes”?
LIL WAYNE: I don’t look at it like that. Drake is my artist. If he wasn’t my artist, then yeah maybe. But that’s my artist. He’s not [just] a friend. We’re more than friends. It’s business. It would be impossible for it to be a competition. I mean, I’m the guy’s boss.

Wayne’s been in the business longer but he doesn’t drop consistently good tracks whereas Drake hasn’t released a song yet that I haven’t liked… I don’t love all his songs but I haven’t been moved to immediately skip through some of them like I do with more than a few of Weezys

His rapping is so limited that he frequently recycles his own lyrics, chorus and makes other songs.
For instance….play a whole Lil Wayne album and count the different times he starts a bar off with “Life’s a….”
Count how many more times he mentions being a “martian.”
He will also take a lyric from a hit song and make a whole chorus from it. Wyane is not as “creative” or “lyrically talented” as most people think. And you can tell who helps him write sometimes because on certain songs when he has a featured artist, all of a sudden, his verse in that song, his style sounds eerily similar to that artist. Diddy does the SAME exact thing too.
Listen to Weezy and Rick Ross’ “John Doe.” Wayne sounds like Rick for a lot of that damn song.

If people recall at first NO LIMIT was the chit and no one was checking for Cash Money. Then No Limit flucked up and thought people liked their “rap” but it was really the beats. “Beats by the Pound” did a lot of chit with “snare drums” and stuff.
Then they pizzed of “Beat by the Pound” so they did some music with Cash Money. THAT’S why Manny Fresh ALWAYS has some “snare drums” in his songs. If you watch the video to “Back that Azz Up” (or basically any video with Manny Fresh) he does the “imitation snare drum” beat.
