Oscar winning actress Halle Berry says she’s going ahead with her plans to move to France to get more privacy for her daughter Nahla.
Halle, 45, and her ex-boyfriend, Canadian underwear model Gabriel Aubry, 36, are locked in a bitter custody battle over Nahla, who turns 4 on Friday. Halle has petitioned a judge to allow her to move Nahla to France, but Aubry is fighting the move.
“I think about moving to Paris. I want Nahla to grow up in quiet environment, where she’s not followed by paparazzi or stalkers,” Halle told the German magazine In. “As opposed to the US, there are stricter laws in France which prevent such encroachments into my private life,” said Halle.
But sources say Halle is really moving to France in an effort to hide her daughter’s autism from her fans.
In an email to Sandrarose.com, a loyal reader said she believed Nahla was autistic because she observed the child at an autism clinic, and Nahla could not speak. But Halle dismissed such rumors, saying she and Nahla are learning to speak the French language together in preparation for their move.
“Nahla teaches me French. Every time I misspell a word she corrects me,” she laughed.
But, according to Radaronline.com, Aubry fears that Halle’s fiance, actor Olivier Martin, will adopt Nahla if they move to France.
