Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts made it home just in time to say goodbye to her mother, Lucimarian Tolliver Roberts, 88, who died Thursday, co-anchor George Stephanopoulos announced on the show Friday.
Roberts, 51, announced she would be taking a medical leave to prepare for a bone marrow transplant after being diagnosed earlier this year with myelodysplastic syndrome, a disease of the blood and bone marrow.
Roberts taped her final show a day early so she and her sister, Sally-Ann Roberts, could fly home to Mississippi to be with their ailing mother.
On the show Friday, Stephanopoulos described Lucimarian as “a woman filled with so much joy.”
My Story, My Song, Lucimarian was the author of the inspirational book My Story, My Song, which featured fond memories and recollections by Roberts.

Instead, the opportunity turned into heartbreak, thanks to a comment from then-judge Simon Cowell.
As Hundley, 35, stood before the judges, Cowell, known for his often brutal appraisals of contestants, commented not on Hundley’s soulful sound, but her size.
“Do we have a bigger stage this year?” he said.
“It was just hurtful and mean and the one thing I didn’t want to have happen,” Hundley said.
The gospel singer, who told Cowell on that show that she forgave him, also took Cowell’s words to heart and changed her life.
She set a goal to lose 100 pounds and started by changing her diet.

Another Mass Shooting..
Several people have reportedly been killed in a shooting at a mall in Old Bridge, New Jersey in the early hours of Friday morning.
ABC News reports that police responded to shots fired inside the Pathmark, where employees were stocking shelves, at 1043 Route 9 just before 4 a.m.
NBC New York is reporting that the gunman was killed in the shoot out. It is unclear at this time how many other people have died.

She lived 88 long years and reading her life story on another news outlet she accomplished so much and broke a lot of barriers in Mississippi. For that she should be proud. Through the course of their investigation, officers learned Reaves got angry over the burnt sandwich and hit her 11-year-old daughter repeatedly in the face.
The girl had visible bruising and knuckle marks, police said.
Reaves, 34, admitted to the assault.
She was charged with child abuse and booked into the Montgomery County jail on a $5,000 bond.
Police said the girl’s father was not at home at the time of the incident.
The investigation is ongoing
