The slaughter of 27 innocents by a madman in Newtown, CT on Monday left Newtown residents in mourning and the country in shock. But one man, the president of the United States, managed to find a cute photo opportunity amid the tears and grief. Obama was recently criticized for honoring the late civil rights icon Rosa Parks by tweeting an image of himself taken in April at the Henry Ford Museum.
Updated: This is the image Obama’s people wanted the country to see, not the photo with the children, which was taken with a cellphone by someone backstage.
From NBC News:
President Barack Obama, the father of two daughters, brought “the love and prayers of a nation” Sunday to the people of Newtown, Conn., in an emotional address at an interfaith vigil after he visited with the parents of the 20 boys and girls who were killed Friday in their elementary school classroom.
“Newtown, you are not alone,” the president said. “As these difficult days have unfolded, you have also inspired us with stories of strength and resolve and sacrifice.”
