Sunday was President Barack Obama’s 2nd Inauguration, but tongues were wagging about Michelle Obama’s dress and bangs wig. Obama himself admitted that Michelle’s bangs were the talk of the 57th Inauguration. But what about that odd blue dress she wore?
If the dress fabric looks familiar to you men, that’s because the dress’s design was based on the silk material of a man’s tie.
According to the AP (via the Washington Post):
The fabric for the first lady’s Inauguration Day attire was developed based on the style of a man’s silk tie. The belt she is wearing is from J.Crew and her necklace was designed by Cathy Waterman. She is also wearing J.Crew shoes.
J.Crew also designed daughter Malia’s ensemble. After the Inauguration ceremony, the first lady’s dress and her accessories (except for the bangs wig) will be mothballed at the National Archives in DC.

But that’s kind of my point. Jackie O didn’t seem to exude anything beyond image & redecorating the White House. FLOTUS rocks style AND I see substance in her leadership.
For me, Michelle stands on her own.
I think she looks classy. I just googled some Jackie O pictures because I know I’ve seen that style on a first lady before and sure enough, Jackie O wore a very similar cut and style several times. One dress was a cream color with a similar pattern to Michelle’s dress. I don’t care about the fabric type. It is cold out there so, she picked a fabric that will keep her warm I’m sure.
