Sunday’s fiasco at a presidential Inauguration event must have seemed like shades of Desiree Rogers to the Obama administration.

If you recall, Obama’s attention-seeking Social Secretary Desiree Rogers resigned her post after an uninvited couple crashed a White House event and got close enough to the president to take a picture with him.

On Sunday, rapper Lupe Fiasco — who has sharply criticized Obama in the past — was kicked off the stage during an anti-Obama rant at the StartUp RockOn Inauguration Celebration at the Hamilton Live.

Foreign policy reporter Josh Rogin live-tweeted the bizarre scene as it unfolded before him.

First the stage lights were cut, then Fiasco’s microphone (and the stand that it was attached to) disappeared — but none of that deterred him any. Fiasco continued to rap as the live band played on. As the crowd cheered him on, the 31-year-old rapper was quickly surrounded and dragged off the stage by Obama’s burly Secret Service agents who couldn’t care less about free speech under Big Brother [Obama]’s watch.

Maybe the Obama administration forgot about that interview that Fiasco did with MTV in which he referred to Obama as the “biggest terrorist … in the United States of America”?

Someone’s head will roll after this latest fiasco.

I respect his right to disagree politically but, why would he perform at an inauguration event if he’s going to disrespect the honoree? Moreso, why hire a known opposer to perform at this event. He called Obama the biggest terrorist. He was also on twitter during the ENTIRE CAMPAIGN reiterating the fact that he WILL NOT VOTE, etc.

sure I’m all for free speech as long as my right to bare arms isn’t violated as I paruse the local elem school and church. It makes me feel safe.

Sandra, there’s no way, rights or not, you’d allow me or anybody else to come for you at your event. And you shouldn’t. You have the right to remove that person. Lupe has an opinion, which is cool. But there’s no way you’re going to be at an Obama event talking proudly about not voting for him in either election. The other thing is he was calling out other folk for being racist. I’m thinking they couldn’t get to him fast enough, so by the time they got to him, he was clowning Obama in his lyrics.

There’s a time and place for everyhing. I can’t wait to hear why he agreed to perform if he had such convictions anti-Obama.

SHOULD extend beyond ethnicity and obviously the issues are more important to him than voting for the “brother”.

Being an independant doesn’t negate your blackness (and I know because I love being black, and I’m an independant). Being republican doesn’t make you any less black and it’s silly to suggest that being black means ANY democratic candidate should automatically get your vote.

Now, on the FLIP side of this, the dumba$$ who booked someone who is VOCALLY anti-Obama, to perform at the inauguration for Obama, is the one who should have been invited on stage just so they could snatch his or her ink pen, clip board and ID badge before the secret service humiliated that a$$ by dragging her off stage and pushing her outside into the middle of the street and then and throwing her coat and keys in out behind her.

@ Sandra, I don’t see this as a “free speech” issue. If I’m having a party and hire you to DJ and you get on the mic and disrespect me, I’m having security take you and your crate full of records and throw your a$$es in the middle of the street too.

NEWSFLASH…THIS WAS NOT AN OFFICIAL PARTY! THOSE WERE NOT SECRET SERVICE PEOPLE….this was just some promoter party. This had NOTHING TO DO WITH OBAMA, and it’s not a case of Freedom of Speech. The promoters should have checked who they were hiring, but when you are getting paid to follow a THEME…that’s what you are supposed to do. When you are hired for a JOB…it’s to do the JOB the employer asked. If you don’t…YOU GET FIRED!
