Whitney Houston’s only child, Bobbi Kristina Brown, 21, remains on life support at Emory Hospital in Atlanta. I am told her condition is unchanged despite optimistic reports in the media that she is improving.
A few days after Bobbi, or Krissi as her family calls her, turned 12 in 2005, I was hired to shoot her birthday party at a hotel near their Country Club of the South mansion in Alpharetta, GA.
Bobby was a doting father. He and Krissi had a beautiful relationship. He loved all over her during the party.
Bobbi couldn’t walk past her father without him embracing her in a warm bear hug. She already knew that an all encompassing hug or a kiss from daddy was her price for free passage around the hotel ballroom.
Krissi was a bubbly, happy little girl. She was certainly over-indulged (spoiled), but she was very outgoing and seemed well-adjusted. Her entire family was there — Bobby and all of his sisters.
Puff Daddy’s ex-concubine Kim Porter stopped by with her sons, Quincy, left, and Christian, right.
Krissi’s favorite group B5 performed, much to the delight of the screaming girls.
One final note: this would have been around the time that Nick Gordon entered Bobbi’s life — if you believe the media reports that Whitney took him in when he was 12. But I was in regular touch with Bobby’s sister who hired me for this event. I was the go-to celebrity photographer who also hired to shoot other private events for Whitney over the years, and I do not recall hearing Nick’s name.
Most recently, I was told by a family member that Whitney took Nick in when he was maybe 15 or 16, after he was thrown out of his own home. At the time, he and Bobbi were dating and Whitney feared Bobbi would sneak out the window to be with him. It made sense for her to move Nick in to keep Bobbi off the streets.
