Women were not designed to get pregnant or give birth after age 30. That's why there are more risks involved with childbirth after age 30.

The reason women in their 40s have fertility issues is because the human body is not prepared for natural birth at that age.

But according to authors Christa Orecchio and Willow Buckley, women over 30 can give birth naturally by preparing their bodies before conception.

In their new book “How To Conceive Naturally: And Have a Healthy Pregnancy After 30,” Orecchio and Buckley say women over 30 can prepare their bodies for late age childbirth by eating right.

1. Preparing your body. Prepare your body for childbirth by practicing proper nutrition such as eliminating artificial and processed food. “Proper nutrition forms the core of this foundation and dramatically affects preconception health,” Orecchio and Buckley write. “Prenatal nutrition also determines the quality of the baby’s major organs and even her predisposition to certain diseases.”

2. Eliminate stress. If your life is stressful, your fetus will feel stressed out. “A good mindset is key,” says Orecchio. “You create your own culture, so communicate with your baby before and during pregnancy. Create enough time for yourself; have a morning or night routine that’s sacred to you.”

3. Add placenta to your diet. Orecchio, a certified nutritionist, suggests eating encapsulated placenta 3 months prior to conception to balance your postpartum hormones. “The Kardashians are doing it!” said Orecchio.

4. Be good to your gut. Orecchio recommends taking a multi-strain probiotic for 90 days before you conceive to prepare your gut to cultivate digestive enzymes and to help with digestion in your stomach and intestines. “Whatever imbalances you have, youth can overcome that. But not as you age. Then you have to do the work,” says Orecchio.

I agree with this post except the part about eating encapsulated placenta pills. The Trashian demons are doing a lot of things we ought not do.

  • Samia Williams

Millions of women are having babies after 30 and there just fine. Not everybody want's to be 12 when they give birth.

  • Angela

I misread the age at first and had to delete my original comment. This post is ridiculous.

I'm knocking on 30's door. I honestly think about this frequently. That being said, if your advice contains, "the Kardashians are doing it", at any point, I cannot and will not take you seriously.

I don't believe for one second Sandra believes this mess. A RN would NEVER believe this. The drs don't even start giving you tests for genetic defects until your 35.

  • Yoni

I THINK I got all "MINEZ" or is it "MINES" or wait, "MINDS?" LMAO

  • sunni_daze

Oh Please, this is hot horse crap. I gave birth at 34 with no complications and not a problem.

  • Miany

rofl...that man aint playin with yo azzz!! he dont wanna hear aunties pseudo science

  • Let Your Soul Glow

Nah, if we weren't designed to give birth after 30, I believe menopause would start in our late 20s. I think it's more accurate to say that it becomes more challenging over age 40. But everyone is different. Some women have fertily issues while in their early 20s. My grandma was still pumping out kids in her 40s.

  • harley_quinn2.0

All her credibility went out the window with that statement.

  • Yoni

Did you say "with what?" BYE!

it ain't hard...unless you on reality tv. then you have to go to the fertility specialist as a part of the mandatory storyline.

  • http://Copblock.org aDingoDrankMyBabies

  • MotherOfDragons, GetOffMyENuts

Actually it's only mandatory if you'll give birth after 35. They offer it as an option if you're 30 or over. I had my last one 3 days after I turned 32, I opted to have the tests.

  • FuggFolks2015

I'm 34 and just found out me and hubby having child #3....after I was told I couldn't have anymore children. Despite what the doctors said I took pre natal vitamins every day for 6 months before getting pregnant. I also kept active and worked out 5 days out of the week and ate a lot of green vegetables. We have two girls and I'm crossing fingers for a boy!

  • LibraGirlonly

I gave birth at 37 and I had no problems. My doctor said I was healthy as a horse. I wanted to slap the shiznit out of him.

I just had my 2nd in July and turned 36 in August. Because I'd had a healthy baby just 3 years ago and no family history, I was given a choice to do genetic testing. Even at my age, I was still considered low risk.

    No

  • LibraGirlonly

I didn't get any genetics test done because my doctor said I really didn't need to. It was my choice.

  • Readytochokemothernatureonout

I was an only chile lol I had meant to stawp at the boy and girl but something had happened lol.

  • Miany

The fertility issues women experience in their 20's has nothing to do with age.... It is likely due to outside reasons like PCOS, fibroids, blocked fallopian tubes...these issues will likely get worse with age but not caused by or linked to age.......mind you many of these defects are caused by environmental and sometimes nutritional factors...
The risk for down syndrome increases after 35 "supposedly because of the age of the eggs" BUT if you look at numbers???? most women who bare down syndrome babies are UNDER 35 years of age...
for some reason, Ion think god (or whoever anyone believes in) is trippin bout 30 yo grown women conceiving...

  • Let Your Soul Glow

    Congrats!

  • AnonymousRose

Sorry, for that, I have a sister that been trying and couldn't,

People are going to be out here drinking cat pee and chewing rocks because a study said it promotes healthy babies or helps with fertility. Old Timers didn't do none of that and got 8-15 kids, all healthy.

Did you do it? It's actually cool as hell, they give you this high tech ultrasound for the NT scan part, its so clear, DF was so impressed ??. He said that's when it was "real" to him because I didn't look pregnant but he got to see the baby in me.

That sounds cool, but nah didn't do it. Didn't want to waste the copay. Outside of the first confirming US and the anatomy/gender US at 20 wks, I didn't have anything else except the sugar test which my midwife allowed me to do with a Naked Juice. (Scarily, that "natural" drink had the same amount of elevated sugar needed for that test.)

  • Low E. {CIRCA 1908}

BUT THAT'S JUST IT...THE ENVIRONMENT IS CHANGING AND WE HAVE NO CLUE WHAT'S IN OUR FOOD. THAT'S WHY THIS ISN'T FAR FETCHED. ALSO WHEN THEY WERE MARRYING YOUNG GIRLS OFF 200 OR SO YEARS AGO THEY WERE BEARING CHILDREN AT 12-14 YEARS OLD - 30 IS A LONG WAY OFF FROM THERE.

AND IF 20 SOMETHINGS ARE HAVING THESE ISSUES, ARE THE 30 SOMETHINGS REALLY ANY BETTER OFF? LOGICALLY SPEAKING...

People should have kids when they are good and ready. This is not the 1950's when women used to eff and cook all day. We want careers too. If that means having a kid at 32 or 33, so be it. When I had maternity clinicals, most of the first time moms were over 30.

Hmmm I think there is some sound advice here. Perhaps ignore that Placenta part and add in womb massage. But if babies after 30 was a no-no my father and about half of my uncles and aunties wouldn't be here. My paternal grandmother had 15 the last at 44(only because her husband passed away when she was pregnant) She probably would have had more, her sister had 17, the last one was in her 40's. So it's possible, but women ate better in those days and less chemicals that affect our fertility were an issue to them, they all had farms. I would say do the list, except number 3, and add womb massage and fertilitea.

I have a coworker who wasn't feeling well for a month and finally went to the doctor found out she's 21 weeks pregnant. She's 39

  • Low E. {CIRCA 1908}

WOULD YOU CONSIDER YOUR HEALTH TO BE THE SAME AT AGE 22 AND AT AGE 32? IT'S A COMBINATION OF A FEW THINGS I THINK...NOT EVEN LIMITED TO JUST AGE AND ENVIRONMENTAL. I THINK SOMEONE HAS ALREADY MENTIONED MEDICAL ISSUES AND THE FACT THAT EVERY WOMAN IS DIFFERENT TOO...

  • Low E. {CIRCA 1908}

LEMME STIR THE POT ONCE MORE...I ALSO NOTICE THAT MORE AND MORE WOMEN THINK THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE A BABY WHEN THEY WANT TO...IT'S NOT ALWAYS "OUR" TIMING IF YOU CATCH MY DRIFT. I HAD A MISCARRIAGE BEFORE I EVER GOT TO HOLD ONE BABY...THE MOST HIGH WILL GIVE YOU EXACTLY WHAT YOU NEED WHEN YOU NEED IT. JMO.

HOPEFULLY WE GET A SATURDAY POST! -HINT HINT-

  • Miany

I know Low E. I just do not like the generalization...IT makes it sound as if we should destroy the whole system at age 29.....I feel these issues with rearing children at age 30 are less likely than not.. Folk just preying on the fears of others, whether those fears are logical or not... I don't know, I am overall hesitant to accept new science claims when the 5 generations before me were not plagued by these issues...how about they fix the food and enviro as opposed to discouraging women from having children after age 28.

  • Ardent Photog

    1.This is America
    2. That's just plain not smart - who wants to be an old ass mommy?

  • Ardent Photog

My friend was 40 and thought it was menopause. When she figured out she was pregnant with her first child, she was 5 months along! Her baby is fine.

  • Ardent Photog

LOL - you'd better get on that thang and make it do what it do! Congrats to your new and growing family!

  • Ardent Photog

    What's that like, carrying twins?

  • Complete822

Just had my first one last year at 39.

  • shell

wow what???? thats sick and crazy talk. Glad shes not a nurse anymore.

  • SummerBaby

Mine were surprise twins. We were only expecting one baby & went into labor early & got a shock of a lifetime

  • chachadigi

    WOW! Talk about a blessing!

  • Sexy CJ

Women were not designed to get pregnant or give birth after age 30; the reason women in their 40s have fertility issues is because the human body is not prepared for natural birth at that age.......

  • Torae

I read it online on a fertility forum and a lot of women said it worked for them...so I said what the heck...I got really good hair growth out of it as well....

  • NSYDEOUT

Oh really?? Im 33. Hmm, didn't know that. Had my first last October. Got knocked up again that December. Miscarried and then got knocked up again......AVOIDING IT! I'm due Christmas Eve. Guess my body is telling me I'm too old........

    #majoreyerolltotheboolshyt.

  • A.P. Millz-CT

    Ok, thanks

  • Luv Pitties

That's a true blessing that you are able to. Hell I salute all of you fertile myrtles in the game. I'm 38 and was told I couldn't since my 20s without meds. I didn't want to end up like a Kate plus 8 and didn't want to get pregnant with the help of pills. I've accepted that it won't happen and hell don't want it to at this point!

  • Rachel B

That is BS! How many women have been birthing up until their late 40s! Lies!

  • Auditor

Congrats! I said if I don't have any by 33...wasn't meant to be. My cripple ass can't chase a toddler at 40 let alone now in my 20s...

  • T3

I'd said 35. I'm 36 next month so, so much for that.

  • Auditor

I don't...my age limit is 33. 43 with a 10 year old is old enough. My kids need to be out the house by time menopause come!

  • Mona Lisa

Had 2 at 33 and 35, with no issues.

  • Auditor

    I'm sorry *hugs*
My mom asked me the other night if I'm planning on having kids. I'm like sure when I get married cause I'm not raising any by myself and I don't want a baby daddy. If it never happens I won't be mad or sad. Been saying since I was 9 I never wanted any but I would compromise for my husband and after knowing my nephew I could see myself with three of him. :)

  • T3

Thanks I'm good though. I became a substitute teacher and I think my contribution to society is trying to reach add many of these unruly azz kids as I can. This was nowhere in my plan. People still trip when I tell them I sub lol But its part of God's plan and I love it. So I have several babies. I just never gave birth. It's amazing how these kids remember you. It just warms my heart. It's very rewarding.

  • SaharabutnotKdry

  • SaharabutnotKdry

  • SaharabutnotKdry

I have two preggo patients due next year , one will be 45 and the other is 47 . So ..

  • Meme81

My cousin just had a baby at 46 (which was a total shock to her). It happens when it happens. Everyone is different, I think.

  • Philly Jawn

Really Im 27 preggo with my first so u mean to tell me I have 3 good years left? If women aren't built for that after 30 then how was I conceived my mom was32 it's actually after 35 yrs old sandra wikipedia couldve told ya that but you can still have a healthy baby at 40 with all the technology out today so hush Ceelee

  • Canary Red™

    Hey shukums???

Man juice, placenta I'll pass on both please and thank you LMBO ?

If you want them too now you got to make them think they the ONLY one, even if they 'ain't' - you know, get in they head! Your welcome. ??

But something tells me you probably don't have a problem with that LOL ?????????

  • Joe Who

reasons why women give birth to kid(s) after 35
    DESEPARATE NEVER HAD KIDS
FRIENDS HAVE KIDS SO U WANT KIDS
TRYING TO BE A BABY MAMA
    TRYING TO KEEP A MAN
she's right, only reason it maybe successful is if you never had risk or been pregnant before (( firsttime mothers) ) but every doctor nurse give you the precautions immediately and have u take many test through out the pregnancy so what if anyone wants to have a kid well into her late 40's the facts, statistics are still relevant it's just not safe damn y'all always twist her words and 4 the record its called a CHANGE OF LIFE baby think about it research it

  • Jae

Ummm...had my two children at 29 and 34. I'm 35 now. They are perfect.

  • Lenina Just Lenina

My mom n dad had baby sis at 44

  • Naptastical

As a labor and delivery nurse I can factually report that a woman is not considered AMA (advanced maternal age) until the age of 35. After 35, women can still conceive naturally but the chances are lower, the chance of having a complicated pregnancy, or child born with problems also increase. Aunty Rose should know this as a nurse. I must say however that just bc u "can" get pregnant doesn't mean u should. I have had some patients in their late 30s to 50s and they were MISERABLE. Halle Berry and other Hollywood folk make it look like it's easy or glamorous to have a baby in your late 40s.

There is nothing cute about having arthritis and being preggers. I've actually had (not my personal pt) but a patient die in labor, she was in her 50s. It really can be dangerous. But ladies in ur early to mid 30s and even late 30s, as long as your in good health and prayers you should be fine. Complications can happen at any age and even to women with low risk factors. #themoreyouknow

  • Complete822

I have to admit she gives me a run for money, but I figure she's helping me burn calories and keeping me young!

  • Complete822

You know what? You are so right! Me and my husband were desperate to have kids. All are our friends had kids so we wanted them. We both wanted to be a baby mama and we both was trying to keep our man.

Or we decided that we were ready to have a child together.

  • Complete822

Thank you! What a coincidence...Love your name. That's what we named our daughter!

  • Harvey Pittman

    Congratulations

  • new_supreme

I stopped listening when she recommended adding Placenta... So not here for that ?

  • Angela Garner

I gave birth to 2 boys ---after the age of 30 i was 39 and 40 years old. Both were healthy and full term babies. I didn't have any health problems while i was pregnant or after i had them...

  • Tammie Reed

I had my kids late in life too, it took a toll on me geesh!

  • hollis

Lol make it 10 for me (1 month shy of my 11th birthday). I cried when I got mine. I'm like damn this early!?? Ooo and I had HORRIFIC cramps. Tore my insides out for up to two days. I always missed at least one day of work/school til I got on the pill and could "plan" my period days. Off the pill now waiting for Mr. Right so when I do decide to get pregnant I actually CAN. Cramps are mild now just some aspirin and make sure I exercise few times a week and do kegels.

#truth I be telling people this. Oh my granny/grandpa lived to 100! SO...AND...they wasn't eating McDonalds and had they ish labeled all natural or organic EITHER!

  • Blue

Sometimes God blesses you with a child after 30. And it's all good. Geesh

  • Fendi

    Congratulations!

  • Fendi

If it's in God's will for you to be a mother, you will be. Don't let anyone suggest otherwise. ??

  • Fendi

Bless your whole heart and your tiny pea brain.

  • Fendi

    Thank you.

  • Fendi

I upvoted you then took my upvote back. You talked yourself out of something you wanted. Regardless of what ANYONE tells you, it will be if it is supposed to be.

  • T3

This is true. I feel bad for my mom sometimes. She's a grandma by my brother and the mother has her moments. So she definitely wants a grand from her daughter. I hope she's fine with it. I can't have a baby for her.

  • Luv Pitties

I no longer want that, I've accepted that and it took me 10 years to get to that point, I'm ok with that now. I didn't share that with any intention of getting any votes or praise. If you haven't had this struggle with infertility and the emotional baggage it brings then you really can't walk with me on this one.

  • Dr.Rue

My mother had me at 33 and we are both fine. After 30 is normal, but I'd say after 40 is when you're pushing it. I'm currently in medical school so I can attest to this info. I think Sandra's info may be a little outdated. There have been many advancements in maternal care in the past 20 years alone...

  • Low E. {CIRCA 1908}

AGREED!!! BUT THAT'S TOO MUCH LIKE RIGHT...

  • Blue

Heaven help you if you depend on this blog for medical information.

  • Yoni

Oooh chile NO! My brother (RIP) had one at 50.

  • Yoni

Aww thanks! You are SO right! I went with her ass on my hip and a diaperbag slung across my shoulder. She won't stoppin' SH!T. LMAO

  • Readytochokemothernatureonout

I know that's right. Proud of you too.

  • Yoni

    *hugs*

  • Fendi

I wasn't ridiculing you. I'm pulling for you and praying for you. I initially misread what you were stating. I am a firm believer that when things are meant to be, they will. I believe parenthood is still a real possibility for you, regardless of what you have been told. Faith of a mustard seed...

  • Luv Pitties

No I didn't take it as you ridiculing me, I thought you were judging me for how I felt and accepting what won't happen. I'm at a point where I would like to get out and travel and see the world -enjoy my freedom. Plus I'm not with anyone right now and the guys I date have grown kids and don't wish to start over and that's ok too. Thank you being supportive and your prayers.

  • Fendi

No judgment. I promise. I just wish you all the best in life and love. I pray God gives you everything your heart desires. ?? Safe travels when you venture out! See something for me. I'm planted where I am for awhile, but I hope to get to travel next year. ??
