So other than this video(s), Violet has never been in public with a “beat” face, which is what I gather from the pictures online. Other than the purple crotchet braids (colorful braids is the new fad for kids) Violet’s mother pretty much has her dressed as a little girl and has her in kid-geared activities. Perhaps she was taken aback that her baby paid so much attention to her makeup routine that she was able to do it herself. I played in my mother’s make up…..the whole nine, but barely wore it in my teens and twenties and barely wear it now.

The funny thing is Mama Butter LOVES makeup and just views it as fashion. She didn’t have a problem with the lipstick, but it was a teachable moment. She told me to do what I felt was best. I didn’t wear makeup then and don’t wear it now. I decided to quit. Years later she told me that she was proud to have raised a young lady who isn’t afraid of not being part of the crowd.

And some people would call them grown…….but that is just their opinion. As long as a child is respectful when making their case….no harm no foul, IMO

My daughter is 1 and tries to immitate me when I put my makeup on (using my blusher brush without any makeup on it), yes its fun for a few minutes then she knows when Mama says okay that’s enough go play with your pop-up book or toys that’s it. Many different reasons but I get where you are coming from. Makeup is fun also for a lot of women its not just about looks. She does with her little girl what she thinks is fun. Just because it may seem over the top doesn’t mean it is harmful. Your words are very provocative and you know it. My grandmother sold Mary Kay when we were growing up and she had a room filled with products and a vanity. She allowed us to put on the make up that was already opened but we could NOT go outside the house with it on. If she’s not going anywhere I don’t see the problem.

That child has on a contour, mascara, eyeliner, blush, eyebrow powder and dark lipstick. That’s right. Let her be a baby. A baby should not know how to contour her face and the colors are inappropriate for a toddler. Let alone the fact that she has NARS which is a make up brand that is expensive and used in fashion editorials because it’s highly pigmented and probably not good for a child’s skin. Also you have no idea where the child was headed to afterward. Either way, they make play make up kits for children in natural colors that are more age appropriate. No reason a five year old should be that skilled in doing make up. But again this is my preference. If you consider a baby looking like a replica of an adult appropriate playtime, more power to you. My child (if I had one) would be cool kicking it in lip smackers and Disney make up.

What does not having kids have to do with anything? That I don’t have them does not indicate that I have poor judgment or am overly critical. There are tons of people who have them who probably shouldn’t. I don’t have kids because I do not want them. Im unsure why you’re trying to change my opinion or prove to me (or yourself?) that wearing a face full of make up at five is harmless. I had a ton of memories sans plastering my face with make up, and feel that there should be landmarks as you age. When I was finally allowed to wear make up (at thirteen and only eyeliner and lip gloss), it felt like I was crossing a threshold. Same way there were restrictions on things I could wear as well. I feel like gradually getting things like this aided in my growing up. When I was a child, I wasn’t concerned with how I looked and was freed from that stress that women are under as an adult. If you have different memories that you deem beautiful from make up, good for you.
