President Donald Trump

President Donald Trump kept his campaign promise to repeal the Trans-Pacific Partnership, ex-president Barack Obama's signature trade policy.

With the stroke of a pen on Monday, President Trump withdrew the United States from the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal brokered by Obama.

Trump made repealing TPP a key part of his platform in the early days of his campaign.

TPP was a trade agreement between the U.S. and member countries of the European Union (EU) that benefitted the member countries by lowering tariffs and lifting barriers to trade.

Ex-president Obama claimed the trade deal would "promote economic growth" and "support the creation and retention of jobs".

But President Trump argued that the trade deal would cause job losses in America and increase the outflow of American taxpayer dollars to other countries.

But it wasn't all good news from the Oval Office.

On Friday, Trump angered homeowners when he signed an Executive Order removing the pending Private Mortgage Insurance rate cut that had been signed by Mr. Obama in the days before he left office.

Last week, Mr. Obama signed an Executive Order reducing the PMI fee by 0.60 percent, a savings of $500 on FHA-backed mortgage loans.

An hour after Trump signed the Executive Order, HUD announced it was suspending the pending mortgage insurance fee cut.

PMI is a monthly insurance premium that is paid in addition to the monthly mortgage. It protects the bank in case home buyers default on their loans.

Homeowners complain that by removing the insurance premium reduction, it will cost an average of $500 more a year for PMI insurance.

But in reality, Trump's action will only affect home buyers who pay less than 20 percent down on a FHA mortgage loan.

Trump's action will not affect home buyers who make down payments of 20% or more on homes priced above $419,000.

  • E-VannaRootsAllEvil

So who on here got a house over 420000? Again benefiting the rich!!! Thank you for making the point!!

  • hi-liter

By reversing the mortgage insurance fee and now people have to pay that $500 fee, how is that helping the people that voted for him? This will not only affect us, it will affect the alabasters too.

  • Sucker Free

But who is buying a 419k and up house and putting 20% down these days...people who got dough and don't need help.

So the people who need the lower rate are screwed

    girl bye!

  • Are we there yet

But in reality, Trump’s action will only affect home buyers who pay less than 20 percent down on a FHA mortgage loan
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
    You know WHAT?

  • hi-liter

20% down on a home that's $419,000 is $83,800, who got that kind of money to put down on a home? Shit, I hate to put down payments on cars let alone a house. But if you can afford it, do it.

  • KeyaPrettyNPetty

President Trump argued that the trade deal would cause job losses in America and increase the outflow of American taxpayer dollars to other countries.
    ---------
Trump does not even pay his taxes, so how is that his argument? It's not any of his money. I hope he get impeached soon, because the path he is on, he is going to have all the other countries hating us. Idiot.

  • Readytochokemothernatureonout

    Ugh...

  • AllAroundTheWorldSameSong

Trump’s action will ONLY BENEFIT home buyers who make down payments of 20% or more on homes priced above $419,000; EVERYONE ELSE IS SCREWED!!

  • Justlooknout

now my comment is pending because Trump his entire staff are LIARS

  • jussaying

WELP, i was about to buy my first home... lmfao nm. only people that can likely put down 20% or more are those that have already purchased a home and can use whatever money leftover after closing costs as a down payment.... assuming you make any profit on whatever your home sold for.

  • A-way29

he's creating an environment where all companies will move overseas. No one is going to want to do business here. This dude is trying to tank the market. Start stocking-up on water and food. Get your LTC and, more importantly, start working on your own soul salvation. Darker times ahead.

  • Justlooknout

they can't afford to do business overseas, he going to increase the tariff rates of the product that comes back through. HE is a NUT

  • E-VannaRootsAllEvil

I saw that!!! Man I wanted to apply for one too that I saw

I can say I am NOT surprised at all. Heard about the FHA thing Friday on my way home from work. This is just the beginning of the bs, so I am already setting up my hunker down plan, as this is going to be a bumpy ride.

Looks like I may have to play nice with the folks at this job for a little longer. Sandy is this why you really went back to nursing.....for your medical?

  • Full Monty

This will slow people from buying houses and landlords will benefit by raising rents. His target will be to drain the working middle class.

  • A-way29

yea, he looks soooo out-of-place. I bet his staff are youtubing alot of how-to's in that oval office. He's soulless and appears that he's willing to risk it all.

  • Sucker Free

You can still do it with 3% down FHA loan..your PMI will be 500 more annually...about 42 per month.

  • Justlooknout

and you have paid 80 percent of appraised value or refinance. We got rid of pmi of last year for a rental. YES LAWD but not primary residence.

  • hi-liter

But it's a buyers market right now, and homes are staying on the market longer, I'm talking a year or more. This is going to cross many of his voters and non-voters out because people don't have 20% to put down on homes, it's just crazy AND after you put all that money down, the home depreciates over time just like a car.

  • missmiami305

    ====================
Where did you get this information from Sandra? Just where?

    Alternative Facts HUH?

  • jussaying

i was kidding.. but my mortgage is already high as fugg considering the area i live in. my home is new dev and right now it costs about 350K. so my mortgage is about 2600.. but i also have to pay a 130 HOA fee.

  • Str8tUpMenace

Did you really just refer to Former President Obama as Mr. Obama??? Really????? Stay on shuck and jive mode, huh?

i'm buying new. and unf that's not all that true for the area i live in. the houses may stay on the market a tad longer.. but if you're not living in the extreme burbs or the hood, the price is still high as fugg. esp considering they're developing all kind of mess all over the place. like new shopping plazas, casino, expanding metro/public transport, etc.

most people don't know that they have given up their "GOD" given rights and took on privileges, if you can fully understand what is happening, nothing will surprise you anymore, everything is done based on servitude, you must serve the master even tho you don't know you are serving him, I hear folks say no man can serve 2 masters, but just think about it. ill leave it there, some will get it some won't...

  • Evilpeoplearetheweakest

So wait ... the real estate mogul signed orders regarding HUD on DAY 1?

    Interesting.

  • Zizzle

Not Snadra. They gon' let her live in the big house.

  • Rhyme and Reason

That's great, but will this signing and increased taxes or penalties REALLY make companies bring jobs back in sizable numbers??? Tim Cook previously said that Apple could take all of their operations out of the U.S., and pay no income tax, IDK??? How will signing this order really impact the job market, and how long will it take to see results???

So, all the old mills and plants will be magically or strategically reopened or new ones with more efficiency will be built and subsidized by taxpayers dollars??? What about the Unions and companies meeting wages??? Will the 75% of deregulation impact U.S. workers' wages or dismantle unions??? How much debt will taxpayers pay (tax incentives, credits, relief, subsidies, loans, etc.) to buy back jobs that were previously outsourced??? Is this really creating new industry and manufacturing, growing domestic markets or vanity deals that look and sound good???

Companies like Disney which owns ABC or Comcast which owns NBC are going to buckle down to this administration, and bring back high-tech jobs, or give them back to U.S. workers after bringing in IT and other high-paying positions to overseas (outsourced) workers???

I hope President Trump makes it happen because America is hurting, and I know people with a master's degree working for very low wages, and can't pay back their student loans. I'll definitely vote for him for a second term, but everybody ain't sleep!

  • jussaying

no i'm not. i actually would prefer to live a nomadic lifestyle or get one of those tiny houses and just go travel all day every day. my problem, however is that i love to shop too much so it sucks. one day.

    ----
If you don't pay 20% down on your loan (regardless of the price of the home), mortgage insurance comes into play. You can either pay it monthly or you can pay it all up front in your down payment which is usually the cheaper option.

The thing that she forgot to mention is that the insurance has always been added if you don't pay 20% down.. President Obama was giving some help for the payment of insurance.... Trumps took that away??????

The TPP was a terrible deal. It would have further undercut businesses that actually produce here in the U.S. and hire American workers. Bernie Sanders smartly pointed that out during the campaign, while Wall Street Hillary at one point called it "The gold standard".

The PMI reversal is an awful move by this administration. Most Americans who still owe a mortgage own homes that average about $200-$300,000 nationwide, and many of these folks paid about 5% down on their homes; that extra money they'll end up paying to cover insurance could present a hardship for more than a few working class and middle class American homeowners. And that's a shame.

  • jussaying

yeah it's actually not as expensive to travel anymore if you do it right. with things like air bnb, uber, hailo, rideshare apps etc, the amnt you spend on travel accommodations is drastically reduced. plus there's so many sites now that have awesome travel package discounts.. i learned the best tactics to travel cheaply and even with all my bills and being broke LOL, i can get a couple trips abroad in each year. just go off season, book on a wed-thurs, and if you can.. do one way flights as those tend to be cheaper. do air BnB or rent out a room using sites like lingobongo or idealista [or other apps/sites for your target country]. this is best too cuz if you have a host [i know it's a bit weird at first], they can recommend some stuff to do that's not so touristy and if you travel alone like i do, you have a ready made acquaintance to go out and do stuff with.

The alternative to the TPP is a trade deal that does not include the US. China has already in place deals with Australia, Russia, Japan the Philippians and all the other countries surrounding it. As flawed as the TPP deal was there isn't going to be better one.

  • QweenOfThorns

The average down payment for FHA loans is 3.5 so basically this will affect the MAJORITY of lower middle class home buyers. Someone who can afford to put down 20% on a home loan can definitely affordable to pay a little more for PMI per month. This is fcked up but not unexpected from that entitled jackhole. ?

  • Renee26

But in reality, Trump’s action will only affect home buyers who pay less than 20 percent down on a FHA mortgage loan.

Which are low income families and first time home buyers....making the income DIVIDE much larger. These are the people who need tax breaks not the wealthy people and business owners. More fluckery is to come.

damn! me and my wife are looking into buying our first home. we get a little bit of a break with the VA Home loan (military) and the housing market we're looking into. Mortgage would be a little less than $1K/mo with zero down payment. damn I couldn't imagine a $2600 mortgage but you know what....you in a house that has your name on it. there are people living in NY and CA renting apartments the size of the space that Harry Potter was stuffed in and paying the same amount

  • nick c

Ain't fuk her in a whole month? blasphemy especially she paying the bills.

  • SugarFoot a.k.a Ty

But in reality, Trump’s action will only affect home buyers who pay less than 20 percent down on a FHA mortgage loan.

Trump’s action will not affect home buyers who make down payments of 20% or more on homes priced above $419,000.

I said the same thing, I live in Detroit and I pay 866 a month for a 3br 2bath apartment. I couldn't even imagine paying 2600a month- with a help mate.....

  • karen b

I haven't started repaying back my student loans because I keep deferring them. When I do start the repayment- are the payments a lot? And, will they work with you. I am so scared to start the repayments even tho I know I must at some point.

Hmmm, Interesting, I have few professional associates in Public Affairs, and Communications, SES level in the Federal Sector.

  • EXECUTIVE LURKER

Seems so, for now....Republicans feel the government is bloated, a few of my Federal friends where telling me Obama made it easier to fire Federal employees just before he left. Now Trump is locking the doors. A reorganization of sorts to cut the massive waste. However Nobody hires more African Americans than the Federal Government.

  • Chauncey Brooks

"Republicans (party that ended slavery) expressed concern that the rate cut could cost taxpayers if the loans started to go sour (or simply not paying back loans for houses they already knew they could not afford in the 1st place) and the Federal Housing Administration was unable to cover the losses. The agency needed a $1.7-billion bailout from the U.S. Treasury in 2013 after it expanded its role last decade after the collapse of the subprime mortgage market."

  • Chauncey Brooks

"The FHA does not issue loans, but instead insures mortgages and collects fees from borrowers to reimburse lenders in case of default. Borrowers can qualify for an FHA-backed mortgage, with down payments as small as 3.5%, even with a credit score as low as 580, which could signal a past bankruptcy or debts sent to collection."

the amount you will owe depends on how much you borrowed. deferring your payments extends the life of the loan and means you may accrue more interest if it doesn't qualify as a govt subsidized loan. [if it's a govt loan, the interest rate could be subsidized so it may lower the amnt you'd pay in interest.. either way, this means you'll pay more over a longer time span]. even if you defer the loan, you can still pay interest so i'd start off doing that if i could to at least pay that down. they will definitely work with you; they have different payment plan options. you can repay on an income based level [a monthly fee that is based on whatever your income is--ie if you have a low income, your monthly fee will be quite low in comparison to someone that makes more than you. you have to submit tax info to validate whatever your income is], graduated repayment plan, or standardized [this is a flat fee for the accumulation of all loans, ie whatever the total amnt comes to and is the highest].

i chose graduated after i had to begin paying them back. this means your amount gradually increases every 3 years or so as it expects your income to rise as you get older. i think my monthly fee started out as 115 a few years ago, but it is about 430 now, however, i also paid off two loans that equaled about 3-5K in a lump sum erratically a few years ago, so i'm sure if i didn't do that, my monthly fee wld be a bit higher. if you can, my suggestion to you is to make a budget ASAP to accommodate the loan. if you can still live with your parents rent free, DO IT. if not, go live with roommates to free up some of your income [also, this helps with networking for job opportunities!]. it will suck and you may have to cut corners, but it is soooo worth it. also, go talk to a financial manager at a bank... join a credit union and invest in some mutual funds. this will generate some extra income for you that may help you further down the line.

btw, lol these are all my lessons learned from my early twenties [i'm in my late twenties now]. and these are things i wish people would have told me early on.

Excuse me but how many Americans have 40k+ to put down on a home? Most families pay the 3.5% required and opt for PMI. Trump screwed middle class Americans!

I remember back in the good ol' days when the standard down payment was 10%. I had hoped President Trump would reinstate the 10 percent down payment for those of us who have been trying to buy a house for years. ?

  • jade

But many Americans do not have 20 percent to put down on a mortgage above 419,000. That is about at least 83,000. Therefore, many more Americans will be affected than unaffected.

  • Renee26

    A sin and a shame

  • SoChlo

I purchased a few years ago with 3.5% and made extra payments to get rid of the PMI. I'm sorry your candidate screwed you?

Hopefully it will force a review on over priced ?. Some markets were being protected unfairly by the freezes of interest rates.

There are several good down payment assistance programs for first time buyers including the Sapphirre program. Home buyers should research their city website for more information. With good credit and debt to income ratio buying a single family home is fairly easy. Multifamily is a hot mess, I had to put down over $60,000 because Bush cut the programs for multi family down payments. I keep telling people to get the single family NOW, use down payment assistance and covert to duplex. I just know Trump is cutting those assistance programs soon.

  • Empress

OK! I do credit repair for free for friends. I got my friend in California all ready and she is pissed because the homes she is looking at are in the 500k range I think realter said the trump thing will cost her upper $1500 more so I think that 500 figure is a National average.

  • Empress

Did you know there are tons of programs assisting millionaire investors to build low income large rental apartments BUT government does not want to help low income people own property.

  • Anunnaki

when we took on the Birth certificate and social security # we became slaves to the system, so what GOD gave us free will to roam the world we now have to have permission from so call master, thru D/L Passport BC, SIN#
we gave them control(not intentionally) that is why they can come take our kids if they wanted to, because our parents sign us over to the GOV, not knowing what they were doing, we also did this with our kids, before 1933 there was no BC my grandmother don't have one, they recorded live births and deaths in bibles, now we have been enslaved to pay a debt we never owed, this is why GOLD was suspended, and they created -paper money, that has no value, this is why you will never be debt free(in your MIND) not you literally. and you will forever pay IRS and all other fees when living, once you die your Bond (BC) is then cashed for value, it is on stock paper if you never notice check it out.., IRS is a collection agency for the Federal reserve, which is a private company that has no lawful standing. but control the world thru deception and fraud, thru the banking system, if you ever learn the history of the banking system and the truth of why you cant get the house you saw for 750k but had to get the 200k house, it will truly change your entire life and mindset, its actually very deep, and most people just don't want to know the truth. i will say, it is a tangle of webs but once you get it all the rest will fall into place.. hope this helps

  • Ashley Wilkins

That was the dumbest statement ever it won't effect any Americans that pay 20% of the cost of their home over $419,000. That is more than most people can afford so those well off purchase homes for those amounts. Not to mention FHA mortgage are primarily for low income families to have home ownership and in most cases avoid having to come up with the cost of putting down an exorbitant amount of money to purchase a home. This bill benefits white collar not most middle class or lower income Americans as has been of concern this whole election.

  • chococherry

Oh wow, in dc a 3 bedroom is 1800-2500. It's ridiculous out here.

  • Evillene

PMI reductions and TARP-supported home loan modification programs are "handouts" for the middle-class. Poor and working-class people who rent their homes paid taxes to support HAMP loan modifications, all so so-called 'middle-class' people who bought more house than they can afford or deserve don't get thrown out into the street. Some of these people took those 'hand-outs' and voted for Trump. Well, Trump and the Repubs will end all that. Everyone is going be poor and homeless in a minute...and those Trumpanzees whose idea of a "hand-out" was food stamps to a black welfare queen are in for the shock of their life.

  • Minx Mosaic

Sandra has lost her damn mind with that statement. I truly thought she was smarter than that.

  • Howard Alum ?

Trumps team pretty much said, DC is about to be white again. Nothing but black people work at the federal level and most will retire soon. Leaving empty seats, so when the freeze is lifted, all the whites will come in and swoop those jobs up. Sad, but true.

  • Howard Alum ?

    **crickets**

  • AggieMom96

Yeah get ready for out of control rising inflation and amped up prices. Thanks Trump!

  • H-Town Girl

Know the facts for your self people the TPP never made it for a vote it was put in hibernation by former President Obama...so what exactly did Trump do? NOTHING but stroke a pen to fool the masses!!!!!

  • karen b

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond with valuable info...I wish I could live at home or rent free....But im head of house with my two teens.....Have you looked into that loan forgiveness program? You repay them for ten years and then after that they eat the rest of your loan. That's probably the rate I would go since I think they include a low income repayment plan as well.........Thanks again

  • jussaying

i did... it didn't look as good to me because the interest rate seemed sky high. my interest rates are low right now, and they are fixed at whatever the rate was when i first took the loan out versus the current going rate now. also, in order for that to work, i believe they have to be government loans versus any kind of private ones. but i'd probably have to go talk with my financial advisor. i have a home being built, so in the interim i'm crashing with my parents and just paying a large amnt for the next six months to bring my loan down to only 11K so i'd be able to pay it off within 5 years versus the 10.

and no problem! good luck! lol if all else fails, defect to Cuba lmao.
