Here, we’re reading about a hierarchy and how we are to act within it and towards one another. The word Master refers to two people. Our heavenly Master is the highest. Then, our earthly master could consist of those in leadership within a gathering (deacons, pastor, bishop) and those at work. Our bosses are our master. The word master is tough for being to use because in most historical cases, those who held these titles weren’t that nice of a group of people. Yet, we report to someone who’s above us.

Then, Colossians 4:1. Master (spiritual leader according to the Word and boss, Most High,etc) should treat those under them (employees, or those that are under spirtual leadership) with respect, justice, and treating them equal. It’s important because we have a Master in heaven that’s looking down and observing everything.
