MoNique and Sidney Hicks

Actress Mo'Nique may have burned her last bridge in Hollywood. Last week, the bitter Oscar winner launched into a tirade against black Hollywood moguls Oprah, Tyler Perry and Lee Daniels -- telling them, "suck my d-ck", for allegedly blacklisting her in the industry.

After video of her rant went viral, Perry extended an olive branch to the 49-year-old comedienne. Their conversation was supposed to remain private between the two of them. But Mo'Nique and her husband, Sidney Hicks, may have betrayed Perry's confidence in an hour long video.

Mo'Nique said Perry called her from the Bahamas to tell her he felt her pain, but Perry said he didn’t want to speak publicly about the allegations because he has a movie coming out soon and it’s “too hot” right now for him to speak on the topic.

Perry also allegedly said he didn't like Daniels but he was willing to take full responsibility his own actions in derailing Mo'Nique's career.

Watch the rather long video below.

Yea Monique is doing way too much. She is messing herself up with all these senseless rants.

  • LuLu

I'm really tired of hearing about her and her complaints. All these vague things she's talking about. Either give the real "dish" or hesh up! LOL

  • LibraGirlonly

I say tell it Monique! Don't let them silence you!

  • Judas & GOD

    she a self saboteur

  • Shira Harding-James

Ohh Monique....honestly Perry didn't have to apologize about anything if you ask me. I thought it was really nice that he made that gesture and I agree not everything has to be public!

  • Guess Who

    This again....

  • darealwifey

Woooooooooo...I tried listening to this latest video, but it's a lot of he said/she said and I just can't keep up with it all. It's too much. If the brother (Tyler Perry) had the integrity to call and discuss it with her one on one, she should respect that because nobody else seems like they are rushing to pick up the phone. We don't need to know alllll the details. I don't know...this just seems like it's getting a little messy, but I wish her the best. She's definitely talented, but I don't care if you famous or a regular person, you got to watch what you say about people because even a broke person can burn bridges. It seems like she on par to do just that.

  • NYTimes#1Bestseller

And very mature of him as well because THAT is how adults are supposed to act.

  • Tlowe89

Nobody's going to want to work with her because she has a nasty attitude. She doesn't get her way and then get nasty. She thinks she's queen of sheeba but they thought her something, she too can be replaced. They didn't blacklist her she, her big nasty mouth, blacklisted her.

  • sunni_daze

She'll be bagging groceries at this rate. Can't sell poon she too old

  • Junkanoo

Something's going on cause people are losing it left and right.Mo's husband should stay out of this mess, she should never have used him as her manager. Where in the Bahamas was Tyler does he own an island there, I wonder if he likes sexy time with Bahamian men those guy's are hung

  • Cheese eggs

Certain decisions have all ready been made when you open your mouth. Mo don't care anymore. That's obvious. If you're going down....go down on your own terms.

  • Miany

Did Mo’Nique Burn Her Last Bridge With Tyler Perry?
^^ At this point.. I have an incling that Mo' could give a fugg or curr less bout them bridges.. Im just assuming

  • Renee26

All these comments talking bad about Monique and the post hasn't even been up for an hour...nobody watched it; she just the angry black woman with a nasty attitude today

  • Willetta

To quote Sommore "She DICKmatized"! You can't see Sydney's hands most of the video because he has one of them up Moniques back! 'Daddy' is pulling all the strings in this mess.

  • starbright9449

If Tyler really did mess with her career then I see no issue with her blasting him. You don't put a fellow black sister down. If her attitude is really nasty then don't work with her again, but don't sabotage her getting roles that had nothing to do with you or your work. Who even does that? If I have a prob with you I would keep my distance but I won't reach out to big names to have them skip past you for roles you deserve and would be good at....wth???

  • Renee26

Agreed...this is her life and if she wants to speak out on people telling others in the industry not to work with her she has every right to do so.

  • NYTimes#1Bestseller

    Agreed 1099000%!

  • starbright9449

That's what I thought too!! I'm actually watching the video. I won't watch all tho lol.

  • NYTimes#1Bestseller

Her husband did the majority of the talking in this video.

  • We Can Do This

She must not need money anymore.

  • Nita

She has the right to speak out against people who are doing her wrong. If they don't want to be named or the public to know they shouldn't have done it because what's done in the dark comes to the light oneday.

  • starbright9449

    Watch 19:00-22:00.

  • Please Stop The Madness

This is where I draw the line. NOW you messing up OTHER
folks money. He said he had stuff riding on it. He would address you when he could. But no. Why are we as blacks spending so much time on this ghetto trollop? We have spent less time on very important topics and this conniving woman got folks pitted against each other and choosing up and taking sides and what not. She should feel lucky she went from playing the loud fat fren to Oscar winning. Is that not enough lady? Lord Jesus I want her to just STOP.

  • Clopretty

she really been showing her ass lately, as if anything she's doing is going to help her get her foot back in the door. This is what people will reference to when looked at for movie rolls! they see how truly unprofessional and unhinged she has acted! in almost all the movies she has acted in her rolls are mainly the same! Her show everything... and from what i've seen there hasn't been a movie out in a while that fits the characters she plays! she's put HERSELF in that bubble! she gotta prove she's more than a attitude having loud mouth woman! she gotta prove she can take on more diverse rolls and this isn't a step in the right direction! she done black balled herself!

  • AListDiva29

If they did something to blackball her, shame on them, but I'm sure her attitude had something to do with it! Tyler Perry seems like a more reasonable person than the other two though, so she should at least appreciate his honesty. In some states its against the law to tape people without their consent, so if she burned her last bridge that's on her!

  • Sexy CJ
  • Torae

So if someone did any of you wrong that are against her speaking out y'all just going to sit there and take it? Maybe it's not about money obviously she could care less...

  • Browneyes

They told him to call live like he was actually sitting watching their podcast

  • Carrington

Exactly. And it's because HE has nothing to lose. When her career is completely over, he can find himself a woman like the one's he was dating for TWENTY years and never ONCE tried to get with her... until. There's something to be said for a man who friend zone's your a$$ since 8th grade and then all of a sudden loves you when you hit it big.

  • Please Stop The Madness

And I am also at a loss. WHY is this still such a Brouhaha EIGHT years LATER? I think that is what pisses me off. This wasn't last year. Or even the year before THAT. Precious is an EIGHT YEAR OLD MOVIE folks.

  • Renee26

    AMEN

  • Please Stop The Madness

She took it for 7-8 years tho? This reeks of now I am broke, so now Imma say something. If you feel strongly about something you call BS out the damn GATE

  • KcoolMuziq

    #TeamMo'Nique.

  • Phillybruh

Meanwhile Gabby walked away with all your roles because she played the game, every career path has one. She was everywhere that production needed her to be. Its time for Mo to shut up now!

  • Renee26

So it WASN'T a breach of contract after all. It wasn't in her contract so that's why she asked to be compensated for her time...very reasonable IMO. It was very messy for them to black ball her behind that...she just wanted to be paid fairly

  • Gigi

I can't listen to the whole thing, it just sounds too messy.

  • Renee26

She did mention it a long time ago...it's just back to a hot topic because she did the stand up telling them to suck her dack

  • Please Stop The Madness

First I heard of this was a year or two ago. So yes she spoke up still WAY late.

  • Phillybruh

She better call Katherine Heigel, she humbled her self and started doing mouthwash and cat food commercials to get back in.

  • NYTimes#1Bestseller

Ahhh now you have my mind wondering???? never thought about it like that.

  • Please Stop The Madness

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/02/19/monique-blackballed-hollywood_n_6715426.html
First it was EVER in the media. 2015. Still way later. the movie was 09-'10.

  • Julia Lyons

It was a low budget indie film that BECAME a surprisingly blockbuster success. Mo was paid what she that thing she's married to agreed on. To me, her husband is the hostile person and is sabotaging her career. Mo is so drunk in love that she cannot see the forest for the trees.

  • Renee26

I have time today...work is extremely slow...8 - 15 minute mark is where they give real deal

  • Rayne

She should've handled that then. SHes harboring all those feelings inside and that's not good.

  • NYTimes#1Bestseller

    Agreed

  • Miany

but...she did not ask for a higher salary. She asked for money to do the extra promo. Chilee... I dont charge my employer extra to host and plan networking events on their behalf.. but, you better believe I negotiated a bonus if we gain a new client as a result of my networking events.

  • Daffany Rose-Gilbert

    Yes she's a messy bitch

  • Soda

Every show she gets bombs, including the last one with Laverne Cox, which was canceled after 2 episodes. Katherine should have called David Caruso, who got bigheaded when he thought he was too big for tv.

  • Renee26

Yep it was a surprise that it had all that success. She was ok with the pay; it was the saying no to the additional promoting that she was asked to do which was not in her contract that pissed them off. I don't know what type of business dealings her husband has that would prevent her from getting work. More than likely it was the negative talking within the industry big wigs that stopped her from being cast again.

  • Please Stop The Madness

Mo is mad she only got paid 50k for that film, fooled around and surprised every, including herself and won an Oscar off of it, an earned herself a bad rep in the process of it all by refusing to do press for it. Everyone talking about Lee, Tyler, and Oprah may be jealous of her...when really SHE might be jealous of Gabby. Gabby is on Empire. The show SHE was supposed to be on of Lee's. Gabby got other mainstream movie roles. Anyone ever think of that aspect? Too busy riding for this lady BS

  • Junkanoo

Am indifferent I don't care anymore , not crazy about Oprah, Lee and Tyler I've stopped putting people on pedestals. Mo can speak for herself her husband needs to shut up and step to the back

  • Please Stop The Madness

    *everyone

  • Miany

I feel she is more upset about the wage gap then she is the actual Precious movie drama.. she said she is most mad that the winning black actresses make as much as the losing white actresses.

  • Phillybruh

    And they all moved on...lol

  • Rayne

    Exactly!

  • imright

ppl jumped down Adrienes throat about what she said about Monique but i agree !!! loud & obnoxious does not equal right or keeping it real !!!

  • Julia Lyons

Another reason I think Oprah was feeling some type of way about Mo is because Mo took shots at Oprah about not having a husband and children. When the controversy first broke years ago, Mo was like, "I was laying in bed watching cartoon with my children and my husband. I have other obligations unlike some people who have never had a husband and children and don't know what it means to put them first." (I am paraphrasing but that was a low blow). It's not like Mo married a man of substance...she married a con artist who conned her out of her career. Now, the two of them reminds me of the marriage between Latoya Jackson and her husband...the one who got her to say those things about Michael, pose in Playboy, etc.

  • Please Stop The Madness

And also to add to this heffa lateness...now a 2010 Oprah interview broke down her family in light of the incest that went on. You had no issue with Oprah until any of this stuff Mo. Again you had almost a decade to speak up on something that was bothering you

    http://v103.cbslocal.com/2017/05/22/monique-oprah-winfrey-dismembered-my-family/

  • Phillybruh

She was in the friend zone since 8th grade...that's the one you supposed be like look at me now, not here's my career destroy it...lol

  • Junkanoo

Tyler's mature? Most women think he's on the down low not very mature if you are ashamed of your sexuality

  • Julia Lyons

Then she should have stipulated that in her contract. She did not unfortunately.

  • NYTimes#1Bestseller

Yes his response to Monique was very mature, maturity has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with his sexuality.

  • NovemberFling

If you care to inform yourself further on the situation, Mo says that there was a stipulation in her contract that stated she'd receive 5% on the backend IF the movie became a Blockbuster hit, which it did and she received nothing.

  • Junkanoo

Am not on anyones side in this drama but Sydney is over stepping he didn't win an Oscar nor was he in the starring role in The Parker's, what a nerve

  • NYTimes#1Bestseller

If he is ghey he probably fears it'll ruin his career. I'd keep it under wraps too if i were him.

  • Phillybruh

To be honest, I would have kept my bridges intact. And just not associate with you. Now my name is tainted all over Hollywood. And I need to work, I like my pool and my house staff...lol

  • NovemberFling

She's never said anything derogatory about or towards Gabby, so don't go spreading make believe fairy tales into the atmosphere.

  • Phillybruh

If that's true and she didn't receive anything on the back end as contractually agreed upon where is her lawsuit?

  • NYTimes#1Bestseller

Oh woww, that was very mean of her to say. Monique has NOTHING to brag about because she SHARES her man. Oprah CHOSE not to have kids and at least Stedman is all hers!!

  • Please Stop The Madness

I never said she did. it was said her those three (Lee, Tyler, Oprah0 were jealous of HER. I said she MIGHT be. Did you see Might? I do. thanks

  • NYTimes#1Bestseller

????? wtf is his job title supposed to be exactly? He needs to STFU!

  • Miany

Not really. If promo was never mentioned in the contract, there would be no reason to add the stipulation. IF the contract said free promo THEN she should have never signed it.

  • NovemberFling

Meanwhile, black people are still at a disadvantage because too many have the same mindset as you and choose to "play the game" instead of fight the establishment. Meanwhile, Gabby has continued to play meaningless, devaluing stereotypical fat black girl roles and recently was disrespected by Nick Cannon when he sent her a few pages worth of self-deprecating fat jokes because she "stole Monique's roles." Why does Monique need to name drop white people when white people aren't the ones blackballing her?

  • Miami8981

I don't know if I would trust what Monique says. Years ago she had a syndicated radio show in Washington DC. In one particular broadcast she said that she and her husband Sid had an open marriage but that it was one-sided. She said Sid was allowed to see whomever he wanted but she did not participate in the open marriage of seeing/sleeping with other people.

Then a week later, this ninja was on the west coast on a late night talk show and again she said she and her husband had an open marriage but that it was one-sided. This time she said it was her that was participating in seeing/sleeping with other people. So the host asked her why her husband wouldn't see/sleep with other people if she was giving him permission to and she said because he's not that type of person but he was definitely okay with her doing it. Her east coast and west coast stories changed. She clearly lied. Just not sure which version was true or if any of it was true.

  • NovemberFling

Or maybe she's invested the money she made wisely an doesn't need to pucker lips to ass to feed herself.

  • Junkanoo

    I agree with that point

  • NovemberFling

You'd have to ask Monique that. I'm only sharing what so many are on commenting on before they've even watched the video. In retraction, Mo said the 5% was actually a gentleman's agreement and not a contract on paper.

  • NovemberFling

I saw MIGHT loud and clear and you have NOTHING backing up what you're saying, so why would you pull that hogwash out of your ass? As your screen name says - Stop the madness, please!

  • Phillybruh

Speak for your self, Monique! Me and mine aren't at any disadvantage, as I look at my pool hoping it doesn't rain this weekend so the kids can get in it. If white folks are all clamoring to get a piece of Monique why isn't she working? Why is she back on the chitlin circuit. Oprah, Tyler and lee aren't the only game in town. Like I said perhaps it was the abrupt end to her talk show that soured her reputation around town.

  • NYTimes#1Bestseller

    Oh wow!! smh

  • Willetta

I kinda don't even believe the 20 year story because she was married twice before to other men. So where was Syd the Skid then.

  • Phillybruh
  • Renee26

whew she addressed everyone saying "her husband need to shut up" 27-31 mark...There must be something said about a man that supports his wife and stands by her side. Stop taking the poison!

  • NovemberFling

TALK YOUR STUFF MONIQUE! F these toe tappers and buck dancers who want to silence you and tell you to be quiet. Stand for the black people who are sick and tired of being thrown scraps, and let the content scrap eaters fall wherever they may.

  • Cali

Maturity has nothing to do with revealing your sexuality to nosey arse gossipers

  • Cali

Monique looks like an angry ape on the lose who pays for the D. She's messy AF and clearly doesn't understand that it's OVER for her career and she needs to move on. It could've been repaired IMO because she did have some valid reasons to be upset YEARS AGO, but she took the hood ghetto KEEPING IT REAL ROUTE.

  • CCW47

When Mo'Nique came to BET and meet with executives about her talk show she was a huge problem. My boss always had to fly out to Atlanta to talk to her. The word was she was very difficult and no one liked her on set. She creates the problem for herself and she cannot continue to blame everyone. I am sure her peers have tried to talk some sense into her but I believe she is beyond help. It is sad because she is a talent but she sabotages her own career. At times you have to eat humble pie ya know. She refuses to do that.

  • Junkanoo

Please I don't care for Tyler one iota nor who he's sleeping with he bores me to tears he's not remotely interesting , next!

  • Cali

It all a lie, he sleeps with whoever and she allows it because she's afraid of losing him

  • Shira Harding-James

So basically he say she say, this should of been In writing. Monique did not think the movie would do as well as it did and this is why she probably did worry too much about a contract until afterwards. If this is true lee Daniels is wrong for this, However Monique should of taken care of her business so that would be her fault

  • Monique B

She give me a headache. I can't take it anymore. STFU!!

  • Phillybruh
  • Desiree Edwards

a bad attitude gets you NO where!

  • Faithz

Maybe she's angry, Oh well she's not hurting nobody but herself.

  • http://olskoolblackflix.com Prof. Taco Juice

There's a big difference between support and sabotage. He's being partially blamed because he didn't build MoNique, she did. As far as the public knows, he has no credentials (like a Communications degree or clients other than his wife) that justify why he's having a say in how she makes money. From the sound of things, he got a certificate in Public Relations from DeVry U.

  • BacktolurkingIgo

Sidney and Mo'Nique did it to themselves.

  • bemetoo

how true can this be? did you read the contract?? if any of that was true why didnt monique gather her lawyers and file a lawsuit?? its obvious its a lie

  • Tynamight

Actress Mo’Nique may have burned her last bridge in Hollywood.

    ***

Who said Hollyweird was the crème de la crème??? They are NOT GOD. They are full of child m-lesters, pedophiles and such... Maybe she don't want to be there no more. Keep speaking, Mo!

  • Greatgrape37

Monique never said it did wtf

  • Greatgrape37

I don't think she wanted to be paid fairly, she just didn't want to go to the function at all.

  • Please Stop The Madness

So she can play one in the movie, but in real life its beneath her? Mary Williams was making Precious eat her box. But okay.

  • jeniefrumdabloc™

Man listen any time your azz continue to bring up a nagging issue over and over and over .... That is pain bew ... Heal Monique end thiss cycle and move the fugg right on along.... Too much energy being put in to this... I have actually watched her show from time to time.... Pretty good... Capitalize on that not this bs about why you cant make something happen (manifest) for yourself ... What Part of the game is that ?

  • PussyGal0re

And then what is her game plan? You can only change the system with power and she doesn't have any. She is trying to justify her bad attitude by using the Uncle Tom card after tomming for years. This principle of hers is sudden. She is a loudmouth who thinks she knows it all but isn't savvy. She does not know how to play the game and that's why she's losing. Even if all she's saying is true, her sh!tty attitude, money hungry ways and slimeball husband certainly don't help her cause. She is the living, breathing definition of "when keeping it real goes wrong"

  • dontgetblocked

    Pretty much sums it up.

  • Please Stop The Madness

She is trying to justify her bad attitude by using the Uncle Tom card after tomming for years.
    BLOOP!

  • PussyGal0re

Supports her? How? She is supporting HIM, he is looking after his OWN interests. Why doesn't he have a career separate from hers? Stevie Wonder can see she is his work horse and he is fully exploiting her. Yet she's so wrapped up in dick, she can't see the forest through the trees. Supporting or pimping her? By her side? He doesn't have anywhere to be? I am sickened by how she has to defer to him for every minute issue. Mo, you're the only person that thinks he's God, the rest of us know he ain't sh!t. Keep his ugly mug off camera and handle your own business! He's not shooting at the gym with you, you're on stage telling jokes, not him.

  • PussyGal0re

Yes, desperate. His body language shows he isn't attracted to her. He almost appears disgusted while it's easy to see she is head over heels and setlling for whatever he dishes. For all her tough talk, she seems afraid to disagree or p!ss off this fool. Never love a man more than he loves you.

  • dontgetblocked

I was rooting for her but after this....well. She deserves what she gets. You have to handle yourself in a professional, businesslike manner. No one wants to deal with a loud mouth who has a bad attitude.

  • PussyGal0re

Sabotaging yourself will only make your pay smaller. That has always been the case as it was when she first began acting. Now unequal pay is the issue? A check is better than NO check. I can't find one legitimate gripe from Monique. It is all bull.

  • Renee26

Financial support isn't the ONLY type of support that exists...she was not speaking in that content but on how he is supporting her decisions and standing by her side. I've never heard anything about his management skills so I will not attack his character based on that alone. So what she's the famous one...I didn't see any equally famous men trying to date and marry her so if she chose to be with a man that she was friends with first that wasn't famous then good for her. She seems happy with him and their relationship and that's all that matters...Men in the industry marry non-famous/wealthy women all the time; and sometimes abandon their ride or die that was there when they had nothing for some arm candy that they barely even know. At least she knew him and was friends with him beforehand.

  • PussyGal0re

It is a standard practice in their industry----press, networking---which could lead to other opportunities but her opportunist husband is short sighted, all about a dollar like a crackhead. He does not understand the bigger picture. You're not "working for free" if an even bigger job is obtained in the process. Now her reputation is sh!t for wanting the short term fix, when no one else was being paid for press either. She/Sid thought with all of her buzz, they coild hold the producers hostage for ransom because they "needed" her. Lowlife moves. They are hood ghetto and embarrassing.

  • Renee26

I don't work on my off days for free either. If they offer some money then I may actually consider it even if I didn't want to...she said she asked to be compensated for the promoting that wasn't in her contract and that was what upset them

  • Rhyme and Reason

It's amazing how people believe whatever accusations are presented to the court of public opinion! MoNique had relationships with mainstream media, ShowTime, film companies, not just Black Hollywood!

Her husband took over, otherwise she would be doing a Netflix comedy special or some of the original streaming programming (Hulu, Amazon, Crackle, etc.) that is plentiful right now, especially for established entertainers with a following, shows like Ballers, Power, Insecure, TaChina Arnold's show with baller son, it's another golden age of television, and Mo's absent!

  • Renee26

So is SHE sabotaging her success or is he?? Yes, I hear him talking but it's backing up what she said and telling the story how it was brought to both of them. I don't see how HE's doing anything detrimental here...it's her that's speaking up for herself and her man has her back. I see nothing wrong with that.

  • Enoughsaid2020

There is more going on, in this crazy saga. I hope Monique is saving her standup money, because her movie career might be over.

  • PussyGal0re

Again, he is not "supporting" her in any way, especially "decisions" because they are all of his decisions. She seems completely brainwashed at this point and yes, as her husbanger he is responsible for this bull of late. I'm not referring to the power balance as much as this clown doing interviews WITH her. Who does this? He is operating as if he is the star TOO. He is giving her horrible advice all in an effort to keep cash flowing, not procure opportunities and maintain her reputation. He is aware of his influence over her and clearly exploits her. Calling him "Daddy" in an interview discussing your career? Why is this joker even in frame? He could be a janitor, as long as he stuck to "janitoring". This guy is unemployed and running her career in the ground for money to spend on his wh0res and she will pay for it. He doesn't give two sh!ts about her career, reputation or even her from the looks of it. We will agree to disagree.

  • Phillybruh

If I knew starring opposite Julia Roberts in a movie guaranteed to gross x amount opening weekend was possible after I got this Oscar and I did the junket like I was asked to do. My ass would been everywhere it needed to be if I knew a 10 million dollar film was down the pike or better yet, I could be starring in a Shanda Rhimes production created just for me. Play the game.

  • PussyGal0re

Why wasn't she "fighting the establishment" when she was employed by BET during their whitewashing? Or when she took other roles? She played the Oscar game, didn't she? Not to mention all of her cooning and stereotypical sh!t on The Parkers. Now she has integrity? Yes, blacks blackballed her because she is an insufferable embarrassment to the race, talent withstanding.

  • jazmine

Tyler can't be on the down low with us because he's never expressed sexûality one way or the other he might be bi and his baby mama might be aware and completely fine with it.

  • jazmine

And gabby was paid faaaaar less than she was. Hell Terrence Howard got 25k for hustle and flow but guess what he still did...

  • PussyGal0re

I am not here for calling BW "apes". WTF?

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

He's supposed to be her manager and have some foresight into how to shape her imagine and he's doing a horrible job by allowing her to do all of these videos whining and crying about something that happened to her almost a decade ago.

Now that Tyler reached out to her over the weekend she's making it worse.

Look I don't care what you think of Tyler or the situation that occurred around Precious whenever one person is mature enough to reach out to someone who has been trashing him most people side with the person trying to squash the beef not the person who continues to play the victim by wallowing in the mud.

It's called maturity and Mo'Nique has proven time and again that she doesn't have any.

  • Quitedeliteful

The shade must have been might strong coming from the Big Three in order to have Mo'Nique still talking about this. Whelp. She has plenty of money so even if she doesn't work in Hollywood again she'll be alright. The best revenge would be for her to keep doing her thing and let them know through her actions that they can kiss her black azz....

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

Just like Mary J's estranged husband.

These emotionally desperate women allow these men to cross the line between husband and business.

Those two things should never mix.

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

But her behavior is exhibiting it.

    Actions speak louder than words.

  • AlwaysPi7

When keeping it real goes wrong,.... a la Chapelle style.

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

    and prospered.

Mo'Nique should take notes but she's too ghetto and ignorant.

Her husband isn't helping the situation either.

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

Showing up at the Cannes film festival was an INVESTMENT.

Again Mo'Nique's ghetto upbringing blinded her to that perspective.

Then she didn't thank Daniels during her Oscar acceptance speech, but somehow it's other people's fault that people believe that she's difficult and petty.

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

Mo'Nique wasn't a known quantity when she made Precious so she had very little leverage, but again Mo'Nique was being short-sighted when he turned down the publicity tour.

  • Genia W-m

Haven't been a fan for years. Now this ghetto, classless act. Her husband is trying start his career on podcast by attacking people as if they're on the streets of Baltimore! I would be horrified if my spouse acted like this but then again he would never do this. Neither must have had a regular 9-5 because this is not professional. She better get that lump checked near her neck instead of trying to force people to call her out of anger.

  • Voice Of Reason

BS excuse. Oprah was an overweight black woman who created a whole new lane. Monique had all the opportunities she could want, but got greedy and loud. That's her fault.

If he cares enough to call, he might've been willing to cast her in something and give her a chance at a comeback. This rant ensures that NOBODY will EVER extend that olive branch again. #Stupid

  • morenYAHdelsur

She's messy af! Her, that husband, and that open relationship of theirs got her going crazy ?

  • morenYAHdelsur

Riiight! I was all for her exposing them but she's going too far now. Dang Mo!

  • http://olskoolblackflix.com Prof. Taco Juice

True, she is mouthing the words but prior to her marrying this dude, Mo'Nique was pretty low profile. There are situations where managers act as PR people. In many cases, they're the ventriloquist and their client is the puppet.
Since he's been on the scene, the husband told her to lose weight, the husband says this, that, and the other. If he were a decent manager, he would steer her in a different direction and not one where she's getting clowned for talking about stuff that happens years ago...repeatedly.

  • thrift.store.jungle

    ??? "get that lump checked..."
    LOG OFF!!

  • Tena

I listened to what she had to say and I applaud her for taking a stand. She was blacklisted based upon lies that were told about her and all she is asking is for Tyler Perry to make it right again. Everyone is quick to try and silence her, and telling her to fall back. Why should she? She is simply exposing these Hollywood big wigs of the underhand dirty shit that they do, and their tactics has messed with her pockets so why should she just sit back and accept this??

  • http://batman-news.com Roderick2011

    I agree with you 100%

  • Ariel

OMG...Even I have been wronged in the workplace!!! More than once. I don't keep bringing it up year after year, after year, after year....get yo life Mo! Damn!!!! We heard you. Take a stand and make some shit happen on your own like everybody else.

  • Tena

I disagree. Her mouth has been dirty from day one, so no surprises here. She's a comedian this is what they do. She wasn't asking Tyler Perry for anything unreasonable, she just wanted to be paid fairly for her work. This is the problem with our people, I bet he wouldn't have any problems paying some white person a fair wage. She had won an Academy award so this should of held some weight. He could of at least negotiated with her.

  • We Can Do This

    We will see...

  • Gingertee

Tyler won't be able to make it right because even if he hires her, he can't force other to do the same. Right now we don't really know what Tyler said because Monique is doing all the talking. At the end of the day if a person doesn't want to work with her, she can't force them. They way she handled this will keep others from wanting to work with her and that will be her fault. Eartha Kitt was blackballed once because she insulted President Johnson's wife (or something like that). Monique has been talking about this for a while and if things are changing, it might be time to hit the standup route.

  • Gingertee

She doesn't and have plenty of money but she might be ok for a second. Often times when some Black actors win a Oscar, their movie careers take a nose dive.

  • 2gr8ful

You are so right she is also giving me a headache, so tired of hearing all this complaining.... It's like she wants them to apologize but when they do she still complains!!

  • Michelle Hicks

  • takenaback

To me it's OK for Monique to tall her truth
What would Jesus do? You do know Tyler Perry allegedly stole that girls saying. Trademarked it.. No need to boycott Tyler Perry''s movie. Monique is a real sister she say don't boycott that man. But, all at the same time making fun of the caller was all the way wrong

Yes I hear you, and it's a shame People can't let the past go, and try to work with each other. I am reminded of a Sermon I heard a long time ago where the Pastor was preaching about the King who stood at his sons Grave, and looked down on his fallen Son, and said He knew the truth, but he acted like a fool. These Money people in Hollywood, Ect is always finding fault with each other, and it's a dang shame. And People will learn sooner rather than later that it makes no different how much Money you have got , You will never be able to take it with you.

    Mary J, Blige-Kendu
Sherry Shephard-Sal (still lying about him being in his 40's)
    Patti Labelle-and her husband
Fantasia-she was almost there when her husband tried to make her do an "All Lives Matter" rally until someone spoke to her real quick.
Monique better call Whoopie because Monique is paying her first husband who had no job alimony, she is getting ready for round 2. Is there a "Build a Broke Husband" workshop or Broke Man University around because I am wondering where are they getting these men. These men must have graduated at the top of their class because they are getting women with money not the broke one's at Mickey D's.

  • Li

Exactly. You keep on walking. You don't keep bad mouthing people for yearrrrssss. And those 3 people didn't get where they got by bad mouthing people and accusing people of wrong doing.

Besides, I don't and never have thought she was a funny woman.

  • Li

Well, her appearance at the Apollo was a standup route. And it wasn't funny. It was a rant. Nothing funny about her routine.
She needs to find another occupation.

  • charallday

What? I dont recall seeing that?

  • Li

NOt just black actors, but white ones too.....Has anybody seen Mathew McCon in anything "great" recently? Or Helen Hunt (Oscar winner)....and it's been awhile since we heard from Hillary Swank.

  • Chaseboogie The Prince

Monique looks rough up there. She didn't even try to put on some lipstick or chap stick. She looks like she is blackballed from the industry.

  • Chaseboogie The Prince

I think Monique believes if she keeps talking people will come to her comedy show, thus more money. But I don't think that's whats happening.

  • dontgetblocked

This a lesson to the black youths. Never burn bridges. Don't try to get even. Succeed in getting AHEAD. What good will come from attacking the people you need to hire you? Tuck away your pride and try to make amends. You need money and they have it. Think before you speak. I've learned that the hard way in corporate America.

  • Chaseboogie The Prince

Not to mention the Oprah situation was even longer than that. Plus Oprah was a part of "Precious" and she was cool with Oprah then, so why all of these years later does she need to "keep it real?"

  • Youshockedme

This is what happens when you are married to the wrong person instead of going up she went down this husband of hers has no wisdom or any sense if he was a leader he would have lead his wife to water not the desert I guarantee if monique divorce him her career will be on the upside...she has the wrong man by her side

People talking about Monique won't work again. This Woman is a Queen of Comedy she got jokes for days??. She had her own talk show, been in several movies, the Parkers are still on reruns, so she is good. She is trying to get the word out not to sell your soul for the entertainment life, because the Heavy Hitters ain't bout shit. We attack instead of at least hearing a person out, and forming your own opinions. She fulfilled her contractual obligations for Precious, over time costs $. But y'all say this and that about her because she calling people out, y'all want her to be quiet??. That is why Donald Trump is President now. Stop following and lead??

It's hard out there , but we can not let the game chisel at our soul ..it's a weakness ...a form of flattery. Entertainers have been shucking and jiving for years just to be accepted by the elite, giving the people behind the scenes way more power than deserved, but all it long it was their power. It was the entertainers that we loved, adored, and came to see (not their production companies, or even their directors). Mo might have taken a hit financially, but when one door closes, another opens. She could write her own check, and use her profit to shoot her own films. She's powerful enough to call her own shots. You can't waste time waiting for the people who wrong you to say, "sorry." They might take that along with a lot of other shit they did to their grave. This is what I was thinking, didn't this happen years ago. Why is she airing all this out now? Obviously, she holds grudges and life is too short for all that. Sometimes ppl wrong you in life but that's not an excuse for you to do wrong as revenge. When Moniques money dries up I wonder if her hubby will still be in her corner.

  • Guest©

I never got her comedy either. Comedy is subjective though.

  • fRAktal Reality

@Kieta - Good post! You are a critical thinker.

I've learned through observation that individuals with a NON-AFFIRMING MENTAL SELF-IMAGE and conditioned 'slave mentality' will accept being at the back of the bus and grant others' permission to make them a doormat and punching bag and NEVER be accountable to SELF. This is unintelligent.

To put external authority over and above SELF-AUTHORITY is a SERIOUS violation that CAUSES repercussions and consequences.

  • rachel

Monique is so happy to have a "husband"... I hope that she doesn't go through what Mary J. Blige did.

  • rachel

Gosh! You read my mind!!!! LOL!!!!

  • rachel

    So true!!!!!

  • OP2

Yep, burnt her last bridge. -my guess is any wavering fans left are also hitting the exit door. How is any this helping her land a job in hollyweird or having any hiring agent wanting to deal that!??!

  • OP2

If another door opens or is opening, then she wouldn't be desperately hating and seeking a jobs from hollyweird.

Instead, wouldn't be showing the world her opened doors of opportunities and not sound like an angry-bird with negative energy and chip on the shoulder.

-in the end, she is burning bridges and will gain nothing but debt from being jobless.

  • OP2

    Nailed it!!

  • Ms Thang

You said exactly what I've been thinking. Lol he probably gave her a time limit to find a job or he's going to bounce. She already allowed him to go out and bone other women but she said she wouldn't creep outside of the marriage.

  • Ms Thang

She tried going the independent route and it didn't work out for THEM. She got a little too cocky when she won that Oscar. She need to go back to doing stand up comedy.

  • Ms Thang

    Yep

  • OP2

Bob got over on her. -then the truth about what he did and is capable of was revealed on another show.

How did Iyanla not see through him instead berating Sheree??

  • OP2

She might not be willing to sell her soul aka play the game with a wink, but it looks like that is the only way from her to get the contracts for gig$ and dig$ in hollyweird.

-she can't have it both ways or play with fire and not expect to get burned.

Pretty soon she'll be pretending to forget her undies while deliberately exposing herself too 'for hollyweird spirits to enter.' -and hooking up with females just like the others. ijs

  • Ms Thang

What other job do her boo have?? lol she is his job

  • OP2

Mel B & others had to learn the hard way. -now it will co$t them even more to get that kind of man out of their lives. ijs

  • OP2

But, it will soon have the opposite effect. -people come for a good time, not that negative energy that have them leaving with weighted shoulders. smh

  • OP2

Love the 'Build a Broke Husband.' That should be a reality show. ;)

Just more examples of foolish aka emotionally-needy females blinded by their emotions and deep issues to make better choices for themselves.

-then reality sets in where they can see as clear as day.

  • OP2

    lol.

  • Ms Thang

Yeah she stepped in it and tracked it into the house this time.

  • Allihave2say

Iyanla wrote some books because of her own life dysfunction. Her books became popular do to Oprah's book club. Iyanla has no therapeutic training. She has Juris Doctorate which shocks because she is just meh to me.

  • 100

    I don't
think Monique and Sydney are wrong for sharing "their truth" about how
they believe she's was treated. Let's keep it real,
Oprah may have shown generosity to some of our people, but compared to what she's done for caucasians, i.e. Dr. Phil, Nate
Berkus, Dr. Oz etc.(at least from what the general public has seen), she's given more of them a come-up. Even other African Americans who were guests on her talk show were invariably
celebrities "before" they were invited to the show. I can think of not one African American that
she gave a "come-up" to as she did for caucasians. And
somehow I can believe the things Monique's revealed about Tyler and Lee Daniels.
I don't believe she would make all of this up--that's never seemed to me to be Monique's m.o. But some of the celebrities of our race are afraid to stan for Mo because they're power-brokering hoping to either get in the circles of those they esteem are in power, or remain a part of such circles. And integrity over compromise is obviously not as important to them. Aren't we always saying "Speak truth to power." I suppose for many, that only applies to when it's "convenient" to do so. Continue to do you Mo. (In the words of Dr. KIng, "Truth crushed to earth will rise again.")

  • OP2

I know. -but that's how it works in hollyweird. You can be anything as long as someone with clout sponsor or market you to the public. She paid her dues now it was time to give her gig$ and dig$. Mo'nique better take notes on how to play the game. lol

  • Yup, I said it

Well Monique 'shares' her husband so he really has no reason to leave until the money dries up.

  • Cici

I understand both sides. I don't think Mo is wrong for speaking out, but she is going about it the wrong way. No these people aren't "gods", but they do have some power. They also have people above them that they have to answer to. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet, and deal with things until you can move up. It's the same way at 9 to 5 jobs. Once you move up then depending on the position you can start calling shots as well. That's life, and we all know life isn't always fair. I do respect her for speaking out, but she's in the game now so she needs to be very careful in how she carries herself.

  • sunnyrn

Also, all that credit that she is giving her husband, the question is, while she is burning all her bridges in Hollywood, can Sydney pick up and pay the bills that they need to be paid. No he can not. She needs to go on a campaign to revamp her image. This could mean getting rid of her as her manager. He is alongside of her but for every brick she throw at her career he throws two. Even on a regular job, I am an RN and there are just some things that you can not say and think you will not burn bridges on hour job. It is called protocol and they are not following it.

  • sunnyrn

    Preach that honesty.

  • sunnyrn

the game is officially over for her at this point.

  • Shira Harding-James

I would too! But for some reason, I don't think he would loose his fan base, especially with the black church

  • Shira Harding-James

Is don't watch the video, didn't care...what happened between her and Oprah?

  • Shira Harding-James

Exactly I bet Gabby wasn't even paid a portion of what she was paid, and she was humbled and you don't hear her mouth complaining. Gabby stays working, she exudes positive energy and is probably a joy to work with.

  • Cici

I understand that. I meant if she wants to keep her life.

  • NYTimes#1Bestseller

I think he would. You know how some black church folk can be. Got an elephant in their living room but worried about the mouse in your house.

  • Allihave2say

Now Mo' definitely needs to tighten her game and shut her trap. I understand she's putting them on blast because they did her wrong, she feels. I feel she should have negotiated her fees before signing the contract for the movie.
Now she's acting like Aunt Viv and when did we last see Aunt Viv working (other than skin bleaching)?

  • ?Time2Shine?

I may not agree with how she expressed her anger but it sounds like they burned that bridge with her first. It's just that they have money and power so people are willing to give them a pass and only look at her reaction to their actions. If 3 people with money did you dirty, would you be silent about it because you're worried about "burning bridges " or would you speak up on your own behalf because you feel like the damage had already been done and you want to tell your side?

  • ?Time2Shine?

I like what you wrote. This is very true. She's still doing stand up, so hopefully that's bringing in enough for her to turn things around for herself. I get it. I can't stand people who do their dirt for all to see and then want to apologize secretly or say you're playing the victim for calling them out for doing you dirty. I wouldn't wait on an apology or for them to admit the truth either, if I were her. She already has fame and some money so hopefully she'll be able to grow her brand from that. It's not like she's completely broke or starting from rock bottom without support. Things would look sort of hopeless if that were her situation but that doesn't seem to be the case.

  • Shira Harding-James

Ohh I like the way you put that

  • ?Time2Shine?

I wouldn't wait on their apology or convo at all, if I were her. They all have very big platforms and could have easily used them to publicly apologize to this woman if it were really sincere. They feel like they don't need her, so they'll never admit to being wrong about anything. That's just how life is.

  • ?Time2Shine?

You're putting them on Gods status. And how was he being nice by secretly apologizing? If he were sincere, he wouldn't have a problem with saying it for all to hear. I wouldn't want an apology like that either. Whatever God has for Monique, it will be provided. Maybe it wasn't meant for them to be her blessing and especially if they're blocking her money and blackballing her. Who wants to be friends with someone like that?! Maybe you do but I know I wouldn't and I don't care how much money they have.

  • AcutallyReally

lol @ her doing TD Jakes. CTFU. This is like a train wreck that will never end. Straight dead at him putting Madea on the phone. How old are these two? They haven't learned yet that life ain't fair. You always play to live to play another day. Wonder if "Daddy" going to be there when that money dries all the way up. For those who think this isn't hurting her check out her IMDB page. NOTHING on the horizon. Not good.

  • NYTimes#1Bestseller

    Thanks??

I agree. He's the one who got her into this mess. SMH.

  • AcutallyReally

She thinks she's appealing to (and winning) in the court of public appeal. She should have hired a professional PR firm to help her clean up her image. Go do Broadway. Go do some TV movies. Pitch a series. Star in some indy pics for a reduced rate. Instead she's throwing gasoline on the fire and that idiot she married is striking the matches. I hear her keep talking about Hattie McDaniel, Harriet Tubman, and even Taraji and other black female stars. She's trying to position herself as the voice of downtrodden black women. Okay downtrodden black women everywhere will love her for that. But Hollywood still is not going to hire her. I agree 100% about her husband but she doesn't see it...yet. One day she will.

When Oprah used to be on regular tv and had her own show, she had Monique's family on and they discussed Monique's brother admitting that he used to force himself on Monique when they were kids, and that her parents didn't do anything. I think the parents put him out, but then let him move back in. During the time Oprah thought she was helping because even though Monique wasn't on the stage at the show, Oprah spoke to her by satellite. NOW years later, Monique is saying that Oprah brought her family on the show when she didn't want Oprah to. But Oprah called Monique by phone before booking the show. I think Oprah thought she was getting justice for Monique because her family didn't protect her and the same thing happen to Oprah growing up. Oprah also helped out with the movie Precious which was way AFTER the Oprah Show and you can find pictures with her and Oprah hugging and stuff, so to come out more than 10 years later is kinda weird. But that is the backdrop and her issue with O.

  • Chaseboogie The Prince

    Agreed.

  • Shira Harding-James

    Oh wow

  • Maxima

I think Lee Daniels, Tyler Perry, and Oprah are not helping the black image in America through their movies.

  • Hmmm~?

She's complaining about being blacklisted when 95% of the roles she's played were nothing but coonery. I guess all of the Precious money ran out.

  • Gingertee

true, sometimes winning the Oscar can kill a career

  • Gingertee

    Wal-Mart always needs greeters

  • Moon Lee

  • Allison G

Yea I see nothing but negativity when it comes to her "husband"..did anyone else notice the awkward Silence when she called him daddy in the beginning

  • NeverSurprised

The Precious money ran out a looooooog time ago. She was only paid $50k for that role.

  • Marie Thomas

They're doing an excellent job. Better than Bravo and the other networks that display Black woman arguing, fighting and cussing (much like Mo'Nique) that Black people seem to love and SUPPORT.

  • Marie Thomas

Beverly Oprah's OWN network also has an excellent show Queen Sugar returning for its second season late June.

  • Tea??

From Academy Award winner with a bright future, to back doing stand up & a bootleg podcast she does from home it looks like. At some point she has to accept responsibility for her career going down the drain.

  • Wakando Shamar Taylor

I think her husband is in her ear! she gone feel real stupid listening to him when he leaves after the lil money she got left dries up

  • MsChocCookie

You gotta know when to hold when to hold'em, know when to fold em! How old is Monique? Where is her self control? Never let them see you sweat!! The Chile roasted herself.....

  • Beverley Balan

Love it can't wait for season 2

  • Li

What she's doing is the act of a bitter desperate woman.

  • ALLMINE

    Exactly..

  • ALLMINE

Welllll.. black folks don't have an economy. She better play the game or stfu. We ain't STRONG financially.. they didn't even have to let us in Hollywood.. its a tough pill to swallow we don't have any allies but them.. africans have never come to our aide. Im good

  • ALLMINE

  • ALLMINE

Its hard as hell for a black man to find a black woman as well..

  • Johnniet79

She's classless. Why is she still talking about this? She's responsible for her career. Just stfu already. You're washed up, get over it.

  • JJSPLAYHOUSE

    RIGHT! This goes beyond acting.

  • TOO REAL

He's just a man not God.

  • HTOWNPinkPuffingHerbal

The same thing I was thinking, he seems to be a Diva! I can't ride with her on this one, he's most definitely in her ear.

  • Duhhhh

    She has that Baltimore attitude

  • HTOWNPinkPuffingHerbal

    Oooooh okay...?

  • Duhhhh

Monique burned the bridge. She didn't promote the movie nor did she thank the producers or director who put her in the position to win the Oscar

  • Ant Hill

Obama got you all thinking you do but you angry birds don't have d***s, she sounds dumb as hell. No wonder Oprah shut her dumb azz down

  • Zeta Phi Beta 1920

    I like Mo.
She speaks way too loud for my taste but I like her honesty. Rare to find in people.

  • Doink_Ahanahue

    any excuse, but one question:
"How's that working out for her?"

  • garrisonville

Now she's saying she's mad at Steve Harvey & Cheryl Underwood because they haven't picked up the phone to call her. Said they keep saying they support her but she hasn't heard a peep outta them directly.

The Hollywood blacklist—as the broader entertainment industry blacklist is generally known—was the practice of denying employment to screenwriters, actors, directors, musicians, and other American entertainment professionals during the mid-20th century because they were accused of having Communist ties or sympathies. Artists were barred from work on the basis of their alleged membership in or sympathy with the Communist Party USA or refusal to assist investigations into the party's activities. Even during the period of its strictest enforcement, the late 1940s through the late 1950s, the blacklist was rarely made explicit or verifiable, but it directly damaged the careers of scores of individuals working in the film industry.

Because it's already hard for "African American" actresses as it is....this BLACKLIST is REAL.....We already "Blacklisted" because of our skin color then when we start blacklisting ourselves....its "curtains"...so to say she needs to take responsibility is BOGUS...One thing Monique doesn't come off to me is Stupid....She knows what is going on.....

  • Luci Lu

I swear, I just could not listen to this whole, stupid, hour long rant about his and her tired ass careers. I bet Tyler will never try to "reach out" again. Monique and Sid need to go home, sit down on the sofa, watch t.v., eat some mo' food, and STFU!

  • A rock in a weary land

it's over! But I googled taraji net worth and Monique, according to google, net worth is doubled that of Tataji's...hope this is not true or I will be sad.

  • A rock in a weary land

What is the deal with women calling the men that they are sexually intimate with, "daddy?" What is the connection?

  • Duhhhh

    ah, that wasn't a complement
