DeKalb County police are searching for a suspect who shot and killed a nurse and mother-of-5 as she sat in her SUV in the driveway of her home.
The DeKalb County Police Department told Channel 2 Action News they are searching for Sharika Bowman’s boyfriend, Keitren Foots, 30, who is suspected of murdering her.
Police told Channel 2’s Tom Regan that Foots ambushed Bowman outside her home on Wyndham Drive in Stone Mountain on Friday morning.
Bowman had just arrived home and was sitting in her SUV when Foots ran up and shot her multiple times.
Foots, who is 5′-11″ and 150 lbs, was seen fleeing the area in a black 2012 Hyundai Genesis, according to police.
“A neighbor heard about seven shots,” said neighbor Serena Harris.
Another neighbor, Jovan Walton, said he was shocked that such a violent crime occurred in his quiet bedroom community. He said he provided police with video footage from his home surveillance camera.
“I had two cops come to my house, because we have surveillance, we might caught something. Hopefully we will catch the people,” Walton told Regan.
The victim’s godmother, who didn’t wish to be interviewed on camera, said Bowman was a licensed practical nurse, and was studying to become a registered nurse.
She said Bowman was working to make a better life for her 5 children — ages 1 month to 13.
“She was on the road to making a better life for herself and her children,” the godmother said. “We just hope to find out the truth.”
The DeKalb Police Department asks anyone with information about Foots to call 770-724-7850.
