Donald Sterling Relinquishes Ownership of LA Clippers

Embattled and disgraced LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling has agreed to relinquish ownership of the Clippers to his estranged wife of 59 years, Rochelle "Shelly" Sterling. Gossip tabloid TMZ.com reports that Shelly has agreed to sell the team -- but only on her terms.

According to TMZ, Shelly is in secret negotiations with NBA officials, who are ramping up efforts to force Donald Sterling to sell the team after he was secretly recorded telling his ex-mistress, V. Stiviano, not to bring black men (specifically Magic Johnson) to his games.

16 days have passed since hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls were kidnapped at gunpoint by militants who oppose western education for girls.

The militants of the Islamist terrorist group Boko Haram arrived at the boarding school in the dead of night. They exchanged gunfire with armed security guards outside the school before storming the school and rounding up the girls.

The frightened schoolgirls were herded onto waiting buses and motor scooters by the gunmen who assured them, “Don’t worry. Nothing will happen to you."

Reaction to Donald Sterling's Ban for Life from the NBA

The reaction to LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling's lifetime ban from the NBA was swift. NAB Commissioner Adam Silver, left, made the announcement earlier today during a live press conference.

In audio obtained by gossip tabloid TMZ.com, Sterling told his biracial girlfriend, Vanessa Stiviano, not to bring black men to his games -- including NBA legend Magic Johnson, with whom Stiviano had posed for an Instagram photo.

NBA stars LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and former great Magic Johnson posted their sentiments on their official Twitter accounts in the moments after the announcement.

LeBron thanked Silver for "protecting our beautiful and powerful league."

And Johnson tweeted, "Commissioner Silver showed great leadership in banning LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life."

SOme NBA players say they are not completely satisfied with the league's decision. They want the NBA board of governors to hold "an immediate vote" forcing Sterling to sell the Clippers team.

But a friend who spoke with Sterling today said he did not express a desire to sell the team at this time.

While the controversy surrounding racist statements made by the Los Angeles Clippers owner continued to rage, Clippers teammates showed their solidarity by staging a silent protest before game 4 of their 2014 NBA playoffs series last night.

Team members chose not to speak publicly about statements attributed to Donald Sterling. Prior to the opening tip off in game 4 against the Golden State Warriors, they tore off their warm up jackets to reveal red shirts turned inside out to hide their team logo.
