Rihanna covers the January issue of ALLURE magazine. Rihanna is transformed into the ageless beauty Josephine Baker. In the magazine, Rihanna says she was cursed at and teased by children while growing up in her native Barbados. She said other children bullied her for being light skinned. I find that hard to believe considering the majority of Barbadians are mixed. Rihanna says she strives to be accepted by her friends which left her feeling inadequate. Maybe that’s why her image is so raunchy now?

She is choosing to be raunchy. She is trying to step her game up and be a multi-millionare like the hottest chick in the game.

So she wants to be grungy and dirty-sexy and goth; so what? I like her new look; at least she DOES change it up (for whatever reason). I can see the teasing going on, but not necessarily with the skin color; maybe with her head or something, yes. Not trying to poke fun; just being real. She has a big forehead and I’ve seen a pic of her as a youngester. I can definitely see kiddos making fun of her that way. I’ve seen pics of her siblings and other ‘family’ and they’re all lighter skinned….Barbados is a mixture of cultures and ethnicities…. I’ll take her word for it, but am inclined to say I bet they talked about the space between her hairline and eyebrows more than anything. With that said, she’s grown up to be a very beautiful, young lady. Good luck to her.

I don’t think she’s that beautiful. She has light eyes, wide nose and a big forehead does that make her beautiful? Not to me, I personally don’t think she’s talented neither is Beyonce. They can’t sing just the urban version of Britney before she collapse into a disgusting heap.

I disagree with the point that Sandra made about majority of Barbados’ population being mixed. That’s not true. As a Jamaican background person living in Toronto (very multicultural city), I have oooodles of Bajan friends. And none of them are mixed. The population of Barbados is the same as the population as majority of the black Caribbean Islands…eg Jamaica, Grenada, St. Vincent, etc. Majority black with variations of mixture…no more than in the states or anywhere else that slavery existed.

Also in comment to Rihanna…I do think she is beautiful. She has gorgeous skin (the texture), her eyes are nice and not just the colour of it but her actual eyes. Her smile is amazing and yes, she does have the Tyra Banks forehead going on but she wears flattering hairstyles that compliment her forehead. Nobody is perfect, nor is she claiming to be so he has to have a fault or 2. Not to mention her body is banging!

I’m sorry, but when did Rhianna get this bad girl reputation? I think she’s just acting out. There are girls in the industry that are way more off-centeed than Rhianna, IMO.

Where did you get that most Bajan’s are mixed?? As a person of Bajan and Trinidadian heritage I can assure you that that’s not a true statement. Yes there are mixed people in the West Indies but a good majority are of African ancestory.
