What you’re looking at is a picture of a reborns baby doll – part of a new reborning craze that is sweeping the nation. Lonely women who have given up on trying to have babies of their own are turning to reborns as an alternative to giving live birth. The reborns are so realistic they could pass for human babies. The dolls breathe, burp and cry like real babies and are made to order.
According to newbornsinneed.org, “Reborning is the wonderful art of turning a vinyl play baby into a realistic looking collector baby doll.” And “Artists that create these heirloom babies are called ‘reborners’.” The reborns are being bought and sold on eBay for thousands of dollars – often selling minutes after being posted.
the first two look like they belong in a casket.
Well people shoudln’t be getting them from eBay then. I just looked at a site that has them in the $100 range. And they even had this adorable black one for $59.00
They are handmade collector’s items. What’s so bad about that?
That is mad scary …. what is this world coming to…kudos to the artists that there is REAL talent
I’m not being mean or anything, but something about this is spooky. The newborn New Year’s baby looks deceased. In my line of work, that’s what most of the babies look like when they “come in”. I’m just sayin’.
This is creepy on so many levels to me. The things people will do for a buck.
ok i thought i was the only one who was creeped out by this. this is so disturbing on so many levels
I think that they are adorable, I do not think it could replace a real baby though on no levels
Some of these dolls look spooky. I have seen one of these dolls before and it was adorable. It was actually in a case. I can’t see people actually walking around with this doll passing it off as a real child…that is just sick!!!

I agree it scares me a lil especially the first pic do they even open there eyes or they just stay that way!! I couldn’t do it & I’m surprised they are selling so well cause you know some folks will do anything in there power to try & have a baby adoption, serogate, etc… so this one I can’t get with. you remember how they use to have you take the babies around in school for some class( 4 me it was a part of Home ec.) but they would grade you on how well you took care of the baby, now for that purpose I can see these babies being useful or when your young teenage daughter thinks she’s ready to have a baby give her ass one of these & soon as it starts crying & whining I bet she change her mind!!
I forgot when, but I’m sure it was a while ago, I saw something about these types of dolls being used in movies and shows.
Who ever is buying this, and passing it off as a “real baby” should be really slap.Adopting perhaps? This sounds like yt thing no offense, but come on..what is this world coming too!something is among us i can feel it.
“newbornsinneed.org is a 501(c)3 charity organized to take care of sick and needy babies and their families; and in cases of crisis, to help where help is needed… The sales from the dolls…however creepy are used to benefit the families of sick newborns…”
The real link to the dolls is http://www.newbornsinneed.org/html/reborn_baby_dolls.html
I honestly think that these dolls are intended to be an emotional outlet for parents that have lost their children prematurely or constructed in memory of their lost children.

The dolls are for a great cause and whoever made them have multitudes of talent but, they are still creepy IMO.
ATLien…thanks for the info.
I know a couple of people who has lost children and would benefit greatly from this organization. I will definately look them up.
this is sick and pathetic. i understand its for a “good” cause and all, but give me a break. if i had a sick child or an infant that died, it just seems creepy that u would use this doll as an emotional outlet.
whats next? if my 5 year old died, do a get a toddler doll?
people need to learn to deal with reality, IN reality. period.
At some point the police are going to find some nut job locked up in her dirty ass house full of these baby dolls.
I think this is something that someone that has lost a child can easily lose touch with reality with.
I feel sorry for anyone who is sooooooo hurt by life that they need to get one of these dolls. Just like those men who have s*x with dolls and call them girlfriends.
I mean get them for your kids if you are filthy rich but come on……..
Let’s just hope that you never lose a child and have to carry the burden of a death… you can’t judge how another person handles grief…jmho
Hi, I am new to this site and I really don’t plan on coming back on here. My friend just called me to tell me about this post.
Let’s get some things straight. Reborning and Reborn Dolls have been out for years now. Everyone else is just finding out about it. You all are late.
I happen to work for one of the World Renound Doll Artist that sculpted one of the dolls in the pictures that was posted.
I have read all of the comments and you know people, we all have one thing in common we all have an opinion.
I personally feel that we should be able to do whatever we want with our hard earned money. Some people chose to buy designer clothes, shoes, bags etc. While others like myself choose buy dolls;as long as my bills are paid and my priorities are straight.
I don’t have any children at this time and if I do or don’t decide to have any children I will never use one of my dolls to “fill that void”.
Yes I do plan on have children in the near future. I Love dolls and I have loved dolls since birth.
A doll is not the same as a real child and we all know that. A lot of the women that reborn / collect reborn dolls do this out of love for babies and art. There are other that purchase dolls because they remind them of their child when they were younger, and then there are other people that reborn or collect dolls because they have lost a child or can not have children.
Not all reborn dolls Cry, Burp etc. You have to find someone that Custom makes these dolls to add the different devices to them.
Whatever they are collecting or reborning for that is their opinion and they shouldn’t be treated any differently because of that. No one wants to accept the fact that there are still grown men and women that do love an appreciate dolls. Dolls are forms of art too and we have a lot of great reborn artist out here. You all would be shocked at the amount of doll and reborners that are out here today. Not all artist that reborn are good reborners but they try, and then there are some exceptional reborn artist.
Whatever you hobby or passion is you should not let someone elses opinion depict what you do or do not want to love.
Its beautiful art, but I’m not sure I’d invest in one( a doll)
Did you say BREATH??
OH-KAAAAY
*blank stare*
Ummmmmmmmmmmmm I am in agreement with the collecting aspect but “to replace” a real baby????? ADOPTION people. There are numerous children out there who need and want a loving home.
The artistry is phenomenal, but the idea is crazy. Some women need to grow up or deal with reality.
I want one! Im not kidding. I really do. I am still in my 20s and have many years to have babies, but I wouldnt mind one of these.
@ Cherry8201
Very well said!
However, here is the real spelling for RENOWNED
arsha I agree with you this is just sad.To Cherry I understand what you are saying but from someone who has lost a child I would not want a doll like that for ANY reason. It’s the same thing to me as people getting their dogs stuffed. This is just insane to me sorry, and a person who would buy this for anything other than just to have one for art has som mental issues.
