Rihanna was recently celebrated and honored in her native Barbados where she was appointed Honorary Cultural Ambassador. The response to RiRi’s homecoming by her fellow Barbadians discounted the rumors that they were ignoring Ri Ri’s worldwide success.
Rihanna feted her success with friends and family including her BFF Chris Brown.
In addition to her status as the current “it” girl in entertainment, Rihanna added Philanthropist to her impressive résumé: According to People magazine, Rihanna is putting the word out in hopes of finding a bone marrow donor for a New York City woman who only has 6 weeks to live.
The search for a donor tops the list of priorities for the young singer who is using her international fame to bring attention to the need for more bone marrow donors. “When I heard about Lisa’s plight, my heart broke,” said Rihanna, 20. “I said, ‘I need to get the word out about Lisa right away.’ ”
