When a weave job goes terribly wrong

I wasn’t going to post this because I know every other blog is posting pics from the NAACP Awards yesterday. But I couldn’t let this slide. I have no clue why former America’s Top Model Eva Pigford allowed her stylist to do this to her head. This is what happens when a stylist is in a hurry and convinces her client that a bad weave job is in fact the new style.

It looks like a tangled web of weave matted in with her natural hair. I think the stylist meant well, but when she saw that the style wasn’t taking shape after 6 hours of weaving she said, ‘f*ck it, she’ll never know the difference!

I thought we as a people were beginning to embrace our natural hair and abandoning the weaves and extensions? No doubt Eva asked her boyfriend, actor Lance Gross, if her weave looked good. And no doubt he told her ‘hell, yeah it looked good.’ Because he knows like every other man that when a woman asks her man a leading question – she’s already given him the correct answer.

It looks like the kids hair on Color Purple…Nappy!! I would have jumped on my stylist for putting that in my head, and Lance for saying it looked good when he know darn well it looks a HOT MESS!! Maybe I should give her the # to my stylist in Roswell @Phalyngs!! Lol

It looks like she started to hot comb the front, then changed her mind. Short hair looks great on her, and I think her and Halle are the two women I have seen, where the long hair looks awkward on them.

Her natural hair should’ve had a ‘kink’ in it too in order for it to blend. I love the natural look, but must admit the styling looks like Medusa. Not cute.

Yeah Sandra, I like this! It’s very classy.

Eva’s natural hair texture is fine, smooth and silky; but it looks as if the stylist added kinky weave to it. I guess the natural, kinky, textured weave is in style now. For example, I thought Teyanna Taylor’s hair was all hers all/natural, but the stylist added a lot of weave to it to give it that full, loose curl afro, look.

I really like the way the two hair textures work here. Usually people are like ‘wtf’ when they see a person with a relaxer who’s roots have come in – black folk, at least. It’s a big no-no to do that. This look shows how the two textures can indeed work together and make a great hair style.

I hope that two textured style become a more popularized and accepted hair styling option for us African descended women.

i don’t like it. i like eva better w/ short hair. this weave reminds me of this kinky mess that i tried one time….it looked good on the mannequin but i looked like a FOOL! i had to take that mess out of my head ASAP!

It’s cute…I can see where her stylist was trying to go. Shoulda crimped the straight hair to blend it in, though. Eva is a beautiful woman. They’d have to work real hard to make her look bad.

Basically-

Eva (like Halle) would look good with short or long hair. I think it’s just that THIS peticular hair style in NOT doing anything for her..

Eva is still BEAUTIFUL, however, I’m real mad that she came out in public with her hair looking like this.

if your gonna wear weave you hve to blend the textures or else it will look a hot mess like so. I love natural hair myself but this just looks all kinds of wrong because of the two completely different textures.

I don’t like this at all. I’m all for natural hair but all of it would have to be natural. Plus just because its natural doesn’t mean it has to be ugly. This hair style is flat out ugly.

I love Eva, not to sure about the style it looks almost like she was trying to grow dreads or something but she has a good grain of hair I agree with everyone that said she looks cute with the short cut!! I saw them in the audience & didn’t know who she was I recognized the guy though & I knew they were a couple but—I guess she can pull it off she has one of those faces!! Well I thinks this is like a 19th century hairstyle or something and that is the first point where the look goes wrong. Secondly Eva has a naturally curly almost straight hair texture on her own and she probably wanted to rock a kinky textured look… so her hair will never blend well with kinky hair. Maybe she will start a trend of people with “good hair” rocking “nappy” locks. She still looks pretty though and I agree she should keep her hair short!!

Eva looks good tho’ she got a bad weave. I love a nappy, kinky do’ but this is just a weave on drugs. Odd too, her stylist normally beats her down…still her face looks fab.

That hair is a tress mess but she looks gorgeous.
BTW: There is nothing wrong with getting weave/extensions. People need to stop believing the stereotype/lie that says, “Those who can’t grow it sew it.”

I grow plenty but I like to switch it up without putting my hair through a bunch of harmful chemical processes or haircuts.
I don’t think weaving means that people have any shame about their natural hair b/c I know I sure don’t .
