Update: Missing Girl Found Safe

A 12-year-old girl is safe at home Thursday morning and is believed to have been with friends since she was reported missing Monday after she failed to show up at school in San Francisco, police said.

Billie McGee was picked up at a friend’s house in Oakland by her mother late Wednesday night, according to officials. At 11:50 p.m. police learned McGee had been found and sent an officer to meet with McGee and her mother at their house in San Francisco to make sure everything was okay, officials said.

McGee never showed up at school Monday, prompting a police search that lasted more than two days. (Source)

San Francisco police believe the 12-year-old girl who has been missing since Monday may be a runaway. Police contacted several men who communicated with Billie McGhee via text messages. All the men expressed surprise that she was 12. “They thought they were communicating with an older woman of 18. She presented herself to be much older,” said Capt. Marsha Ashe.

Billie’s mother found text messages with sexual overtones on the girl’s cell phone and mother and daughter argued. Billie left home on Monday and family members have not heard from her since.

Ashe believes the girl may be staying with a man she communicated with through the Internet. She encourages the pre-teen to return home. “She is 12 years old – I’m concerned for her. I hope she comes home. We want to make it possible for her to come home.”

Thankfully, he came to himself after he got in a few scrapes with the cops…Boys are great but they do come with their own set of issues, so be thankful your boy is still “little”. Oh…and my son comes from a two parent household so that doesn’t make much of a difference either! They try you on every side!

Just because she ran away does not make her safe. Our information highway has gotten alot of people in trouble. I am not blaming the mom but it just goes to show that kids do need constant supervision. Some kids may seem innocent and she was on the honor roll. Some kids are just people pleasers by nature but still have a sneaky side to them. I hope she is soon reunited with her mother and a 12 year old with a cell phone? My daughter did not get a cell phone until she went off to college and that was because I wanted her to have it.

I hope alot ot parents will see this site and ask questions and snoop on their kids email accounts and cell phones. If it saves a family from grief it is well worth. it. Some parents think because a kid is old enough to stay home alone and do their homework on their own that they will make grown up decisions when it comes to what they put out there on the internet. Some kids can do their chores and help with their younger siblings and even be able to cook at 12 but their mind set is still that of a 12 year old. I am not judging the mom just putting some ideas out there because this could happen to anyones child and it does happen all too often.

So the young lady gets flirty with older men and uses texts and IM to chat it up. Hell no. It’s not like all the hormones in food got to her system. She looks young as hell, ain’t no man confused about that. Then, I’m sooo sick of men acting like once you hit 18 it’s all over. I’m thinking, now let’s try checking an I.D. and asking if you’re freaking 21. Any age with “teen” afterwards doesn’t even match with dating/talking to an ADULT.

In Oakland and San Fran, young people are off the hook. So much going on with drugs, sex, and violence around there. I hope she comes home safely. Not after being used up and violated by some old perve. God have mercy.

Regardless of the situation, I hope the little girl comes to her senses and returns home even though she knows what may be coming to her as far as repercussions are concerned. All kidding aside, it just goes to show how you never know what kids may be up to. I am sure her mother was shocked to find out about the text messages and e-mails – I mean, her 12-year-old is still a “baby.” I pray she returns home safely.

This had me thinking. I always tease my little sis (she’s 17) about being so “young” – she still watches cartoons, doesn’t have a boyfriend and a fun night out is her hanging with her two best friends and one of their mothers at a Bingo hall. Then I realize – she is only 17 and is technically still a baby – and she’s SUPPOSED to be able to be free and young and not so grown.

But, I am glad she is still enjoying her childhood.

I was just thinking about how I grew up without a cell phone, and probably would not have one now, if my mother wasn’t on me everytime we spoke. “You have to get a cell phone.” I heard that sentence at least once, before I took the plunge 5 years ago. And today, I think I could still do fine without it.

But I grew up in a household where my mother knew (for some reason)how many calls were coming in and out, and WHO was calling the house. She was just that nosy, controlling, and overprotective. There is no way in hell, I would even fix my mouth up to say the words “can” “I” “have” “a” “cell phone” all in once sentence, IF we had them when I was a pre-teen, teen.

I hope this kid is fine, but the provocative, sexual text messaging has been going on for so long across this country, and I can’t justify anyone under 16 having a cell phone. ABC’s show “To Catch A Predator” isn’t enough warning?

My daughter is 10 and I always feel bad when I follow her to soccer practice and wait until she is done and I only let her ride her bike 5 houses down on the sidewalk while I sit on the porch. A cell phone is out of the question. I guess I am not so bad afterall. Not only do we have to watch what goes on in our own homes but we must be aware of what happens in their friends homes as well. I have a 6 year old son and I watch him just as closely. There are a lot of freaks out there that like boys too. Check out the predators list on your county sherrif website and you will be surprised what you find.

In this microwave society that we live in many people are letting their children raise themselves because they don’t have the time or then don’t take the time. Now this baby is god only knows where doing only god knows what her life will forever be impacted by her decision to run off if she is found alive I hope she is.

The problem with children is that they’re all stupid as hell and think they know everything. Billie is extremely lucky that this is how her story ended up, many other girls who did the same thing are now cracked out street walkers or dead.

I volunteer at a youth runaway shelter. I’ve seen lil girls come in there with all of their worldly goods stuffed into one plastic grocery bag. They don’t even have a sufficient overnight bag to put their stuff in. Let alone the necessities to survive. Pads, soap, deodorant, clean panties, socks, bras. Now this lil girl wants to runaway. She would really get a dose of reality. I would leave her a-s-s out there for a month and pray on it.

I am glad that she was found safe. Now her mother need to get to the bottom of who, what, when and why. The story stated that she was picked up at a friend’s house. The friend’s parents probably made that A** call her mother as soon as she showed up. Hell I probably would’ve dropped her behind off home myself. We as parents have be on top of these kids at all times, because 1 slip up and it’s a wrap.

My fiance’s 12 year old daughter has a damn MySpace page.Her chicken head a** mother thinks nothing is wrong with it since her page is set to private. First of all she is allowing her daughter to lie about her age, you have to be 14 in order to create an account. My fiance has barked, and barked but nothing has come out of it. She doesn’t live in our household so his hands are pretty much tied. The child is a piece of work, to the point where I don’t even want my 7 year old daughter around her. It’s sad.

I remember when AOL first came out, I was in the 6th grade. I acted a fool online, thought I was too grown. I hacked my parents account and changed my settings to that of an adult’s. I had access to chat rooms, private messages, emails with pictures, etc. One day my dad walked in and saw me talking in the private messages. I tried to close it out before he could read it, but he had snuck-up on me too quickly. I got a grand ass-whopping, got grounded for two-months, missed the Labor Day BBQ (they had me on bologna sandwiches and PBJ’s for lunch and dinner), Christopher Columbus Day, Halloween, and almost missed the Veteran’s Day Parade. I would have to ask the Sandra Rose community to send a donation to the “I Busted Everyones Ass” bail and hospital bill fund. I am glad she is safe. I have a 13 yer old that tends to “try” me. After she returned home, I would hug her and beat the crap out of her, and give her a week at home to heal. I know it has to be hard for her mother working third shift. I think the mom needs to become more involved because it seems like its going to get worse if she doesnt.

My 13 year old daughter hates her cell phone because it has so many restrictions on it. I also added the “sprint locator”. I tried to give her “space” and I have learned when you give a 13 year old “space” and opportunity, they will take it, no matter how you try and teach them and beat it in them. I just learned to not give my child the opportunity to try things.

The girl and her mother are lucky and blessed that THIS is how their saga ends – it could have gone so much worse, especially with her trying to get her grown woman on via text-messaging.

Anyone with an extension cord, old race track or a good old-fashioned Southern switch – feel free to send it to the mother. But even more – the mom needs to talk with her daughter and see what propels her to talk so suggestively to grown men and see what she needs to do. There is a reason that girl is talking like that to grown men, enough to the fact that the men didn’t even know she was twelve and probably hasn’t lost all of her damn baby teeth.

You know what’s really wrong? Half of these kids are raising themselves b/c the parents are either cracked out or still trying to get their groove on in the clubs and leaving the kids with any and everybody. Mothers and grandmothers are getting younger in age by the minute. I took my daugher (9 yrs old) to the doctor the other day and the doctor asked if she got her “period” yet and if she was having sex. . .saying she asking those questions to all her clients b/c she had a 10 yr. old come in pregnant! When I was younger, I was waaaaayyyy too scared of my father to even ATTEMPT something like this!!! When you saw that vein pop out of his head, then you knew it was on and poppin. My father can make me cry by yelling at me or just hearing the disappointment in his voice. I used to think that my parents were strict, but now when I look back on things, I am glad they kept me in check. My father has NEVER laid a hand on me, but I knew he would kick my @ss if I stepped out of line.

Mama and Grandma still young enough to want to get their party on, too many single parent households and kids fending for themselves. I came back just to see if her mother was going to post and then I would have to read through 100+ messages.
At 12 I was still watching cartoons and a weenie was the nastiest thing in the world- sure as hell hadn’t seen one up close, didn’t want it near me, and dry humping was still scary as hell. You have to make your kids think you are crazy. I remember coming in from work to find a boy studying with my daughter at the age of 16. She said Stacy was coming over-my mind tells me Stacy is a girl, until I came in the door. It wasn’t until I had my foot in his neck and my buddy cocked and ready in his nuts did I realize his parents named his ass Stacy. Needless to say I never had to worry about boys sneaking into my house and they were too scared to runaway.

That’s exactly my point – there is something behind her acting this way.

On a personal note – I was into boys very early. And looking back, I can say it was because I had very poor self-esteem. I thought I was not the prettiest thing growing up, so if a guy showed me attention – I was flattered, even if it meant being in situations where I was not comfortble. I wasn’t slutty or anything along those lines – it just taught me that all attention was not good attention, no matter how much I needed that esteem boost.

We have GOT to teach our young girls to love/value/honor themselves above all, because if they don’t – no one else will. I am happily married now, but I will beat it (along with my hubby) into any daughter that I have that she is beautiful and worthy and if a man is not like her daddy – she can keep it moving.

@ The Divine Ms K, Thanx for sharing that. But at 12 doing what she does because of low self esteem, wow. I have a 18 year old daughter first year in college and still a virgin. My biggest concern for her is acquaintece/date rape and campus shootings. My child graduated top 10 as a senior in a public high school. She has 2 older siblings. I do get what you are saying. Kids will look for love in all the wrong places and some of the knuckle heads purposely get pregnant to have someone to love them.(so that’s what they say). If you keep your kids busy with school, church and family activities they don’t even have time to think about boys let alone give up the goods. BTW, I had 3 kids by the time I was 22. My oldest kid is 22 and I can’t imagine her being a mother to one child let alone 3 at her age.
Only because she has dreams and goals and I would love to see them happen. On a great note becuse I had my kids so young I was able to not repeat the cycle and talked to my kids about sex and pervs and “your body is your temple” so far so good. 40 and not a grandma. Sorry TMI but nothing wrong with being proud.

PS. whenever a kid came over to my house I would ask “does your mother know you are here”. I did not care what the answer was I called their mom. (my kids do not have kids come over to the house where I don’t aleast meet one of the parents and have a phone number in case of an emergency or in some cases “you forgot to pick up your kid.)lol

I missed all this during the day, but i read through everyone comments….and its just sad. It really is.

And her mother, what is she gonna do. One one hand, your happy she’s home safe, but then, you gotta figure out what the heck to do about what she’s been upto.

I’m twenty year old, and i’m just thinking….when i was 12 i was basically a baby. I was messin w/ pokemon and sh*t. I knew nothing sexual, NOTHING. was that just me. I understand her mother working long hours, mine did too. She’d work over nights from the minute we got from school, and she’d get home after we left for school in the morning. Me and my sis knew the drill, our unis were ironed, all i had to do was make something to eat, and we were on our way. We’ve always been taught not to talk to these older men, and if they made you feel comfortable, say somethin.

I’m guessing, this lil gurl tried to get attention from these older men. Thats wat ussually happens. not enuff from home, and you have these men telling you things in ya ears, i know cuz it use to happen to me. i juss knew better, and kept it movin, but no one’s alike.

And another thing, i’m so sick of these men preying on children. this sh*t upsets me and makes me mad. Da law really needs to get tougher on these bastards. A older men has no business AT ALL, with a child that young. Whether is the polyagamist sh*t or anything else. It really needs to be dealth w/ tougher.

And for all the parents, cuz i ain’t one…..I don’t know how y’all do it. sh*t like that scares me about having children. smh

Brag on! My mom is 50 – I’m 28 and my next youngest sister is 26. Both of us are married, have degrees and never really got caught up in foolishness and my baby sis is on the same path. All that to say – sounds like you raisd your kids right and shout out to my mom for doing the same. But, my mom DESPERATELY wants a grandbaby-she is going to have to chill for a year or so. lol

Because I had low self-esteem, I can understand that being a cause for her trying to get her grown woman on IF this was the case with our young Billie. Otherwise, I don’t know. These kids just seem to be in such a hurry to grow up and it’s almost like watching a train wreck – it just seems to get worse every year.

Lamenting over teenagers and their actions – know I KNOW I’m getting old. lol

You have a baby when you are ready. A grandparent should not be raising a grandchild. A grandparents job is to spoil them. over love them, sugar them up and send them home with over priced gifts to piss off our kids. lol.

Can’t wait to buy the noisy toys and the paint kits. I love my kids but one day I may be a grandmother and sweet revenge is so much on my mind. lol

BTW, I just think that some woman are born to be mothers. I only had my mom in my life for 10 years. It has been almost 30 years since my mom went home and my dad still apologizes and says “he did the best he could” My mom passed away leaving 5 kids for my dad to raise, I tell my dad “you kept me and my siblings together and I don’t have to go on The Montel Williams show to track them down. What is the saying “What doesn’t break you only makes you stronger”. I am a 40 year old biracial American Woman who realizes that life is what you make it. I am just a married woman who is not rich with money but not poor by fault. I use to think a few years ago I was what they call the “middle working class”. Now I am the living pay check to pay check struggling working citizen of the US of A. I still would not trade it for anything. Living in our economy right now if you have something to show at the end of the day, it is considered a good day. I have read and saw too many stories of ppl dying in house fires because they used candles for lighting because the electricty was turned off. We can support a war with tax payer money but can’t give a voucher to a family who has utilites shut off for non payment? SMH. Sorry, once again rattling on. I am going to another post to make me feel better and talk about a celebs feet, hair or choice of clothing. lol.. Actually I am not that critical. I do love seeing pics of Jayz and love when he smiles. His smile does light up a room.
