Once upon a time I had a journalist friend who who couldn’t contain his contempt for bloggers who he deemed amateurs pretending to be journalists.
I explained to him – and I have said repeatedly on my site – that I am not a journalist. I have also noted that this site is for entertainment purposes and it amazes me when people take blogs so seriously.
Thanks to fellow blogger Dr. Drew who sent this video of bloggers and real journalists going at each other’s throats. It’s a classic example of how, deep down inside, real journalists loath bloggers who they feel are taking their shine.
In this video, sports analyst Bob Costas moderates a round table discussion of the effects of hate blogging on sports. The bloggers and journalists are sports writers, but the arguments could apply across the board to gossip blogs and other personal blogs that sets a tone that affects the direction of the comments.
sometimes when things are said that are so over the top you HAVE to comment be it a person responding or the actual blogger. As for the journalist and their feelings behind it..I think the issue is, for them this is a craft a livlihood that they’ve worked hard to accomplish. When you have someone come in and basically takes the shine they have worked hard for it would get under your skin. 90% of the public doesn’t see the difference between a blogger and a journalist..they will go to what story is the juciest..although I can understand why they would be upset..it’s a moot point
Can’t we just all get along:) I can see how the jounalist feel they have put in a lot of work and time to perfect their craft to only be side washed by blogging info. But like the saying goes don’t hate the player hate the game cause I am truly a fan of sandra rose because this is the kind of news I like to hear:)
There is enough room for everyone!!!
Grab a plate damnmit!!!!
I can understand how they feel. They spend years perfecting their craft and techniques only to have a comedian with a computer come and give a biased opinion on issues.
I go to blogs (maybe 3) for entertainment reasons ONLY. Never would I assume that they are a credible source or real journalists. I would not include their research in a thesis…. Perez & Sandra are around to entertain & start discussions amongst ppl who otherwise wouldnt have a voice
Why should a journalist catch feelings about a blog? Anyone can blog about anything without neary a substantiated fact. That’s blogging. If a journalist wants to blog then go for it. Perez did. Everyone can’t have the success that Perez has achieved, but blogging is the perfect avenue for people to express their opinion or feelings about anything. It’s not their fault if people take what they say as fact.
HAIL … Judging from the L.A. Times articles .. journalists ain’t telling the Truth either … Tell them to Get over themselves .. Take a Chill Pill and Laff .. cause we ALL laffin at them … HA !
Bloggers can be anybody they might as well look down in shame.
What I got from watching the video is that the journalist feels like a lot of the blogging comes across as mean-spirited abuse. Sometimes the headlines are very cruel and misleading..The few blogs that I read are strictly for entertainment. I would never bet my life that what I read is actual fact…You guys might as well dig me a damn grave if I did…LOL
IS IT HAT SERIOUS? hhahhahaaa WOWWWWWWWW
I visit and respond to blogs mostly just to pass time. It’s a great way to express my opinion AND get a good really laugh at the same time. The journalist shouldn’t take THEIR opinion so seriously. Just cause they “studied” to be a journalist doesn’t mean their opinion/website/article is law.
Is People mag considered journalism or a blog in print form?
Some bloggers report the truth, reporting the truth is journalism. Some bloggers report rumors and their own opinions-this is considered an editorial, but we call it blogging today.Journalists shouldn’t get upset at bloggers, that’s just like being mad a critics that critique CD’s and movies-anyone can do it, but to be good you need to be reliable, resourceful, and have a great reputation.
