Sen. Barack Obama covers the June ’08 issue of Rolling Stone magazine. Obama took the opportunity to once again denounce misogynistic rap lyrics while saying he respects rap as a form of artistic expression:
I am troubled sometimes by the misogyny and materialism of a lot of rap lyrics but I think the genius of the art form has shifted the culture and helped to desegregate music.
It would be nice if I could have my daughters listen to their music without me worrying that they were getting bad images of themselves.
Rolling Stone endorsed Obama for president back in March.
This was the absolute truth. While the creativity to make b*tch n!gga with 70 different phrases, I cannot and will not let my child listen to it
^^^ co-sign and amen.
I think it goes for all forms of music.Music has so many hidden messages in it.I just ignore it most of the time.I do like a song with a good message, I like to hear good and things that make me dance too.But it’s all lyrics.Kudos for Barack.
One word summarizes Obam, COOL! This dude rocks. I just love his swagger.
