New Music: Solange Knowles and Jazmine Sullivan

Here’s the official video for Solange Knowles’ “Sandcastle Disco”. And Jazmine Sullivan shut it down at the Stone Soul Picnic concert in DC last weekend.

Solange and Jazmine are changing the face of R&B music with their soulful renditions of classic R&B. These talented sisters take us back to a time when R&B reigned. We so need artists like these young ladies to bring R&B back to its rightful prominence in music history. The drought is over and we have been thirsting for so long!

Solange is winning me over. I think I might like her as an artist. I won’t say I’m totally crazy about her music, but my daughter is so she will end up getting my money either way. Jazmine is filling the void left by Lauren and doing a bang up job of it. I really like her voice. I wish her much success.

^^^^^^^^Ditto. Im loving Solange’s individuality and her thinking out of the box with songs and video. Almost like a female Kanye as far as originality with videos. Been rocking with Jazmine for a long time glad to see she’s getting the shine she deserves. A true talent and not manufactured in the lab (studio)

Ok get it Solange! I’m really starting to like her I don’t know what 360 she did but I like it. That “I Decided” was my jam. And this is song is alright and she can actually sing. The jurys still out on whether I buy her cd or not.

And as for Jazmine, her voice and that song are cute. But I am soooo tired of people comparing her to Lauryn Hill. Her voice is not as raw,soulful, and up to par where Lauryn’s was IMO. I’mma need to hear her album first before I give her that title. When I first heard her I thought a more raspy/jazzy version of Faith Evans. I still think Chrisette Michele is better vocally than Jazmine Sullivan though.

The Lauren Hill comparison came from the song “need you bad”..it sounds like something lauren would sing and i’m quite certain Missy realized that when she produced it. Jazmine’s other songs sound nothing like Lauren..as for Solange i’m really digging her

Lauryn Hill was great, but not that great.I can’t understand why people so hyped over her.Don’t get me wrong I loves some L Boogie, but she only dropped ONE album.And I give her props with the Fugees too and the vocals she did with Mary J All That I Can Say.I don’t see how Jazmine is compared to Lauryn at all to tell you truthfully.

Solange is cool.I give her props I just hope she wasn’t just jumping on the bandwagon, but I actually thinking I’m going to buy her album.

Underground singers I say have been changing way before, but with the advantages of Solange being Beyonce’ sister and Jazmine under J Records those the perks that come with it.Hope to see these sisters do well though!
