I spotted this story about editor-at-large for Vogue Magazine, Andre Leon Talley, over at Fashionista.com. I’m reposting it here to prove how truly down-to-earth and real he is.
I was at Tracy Reese yesterday and a few minutes before the show started, Andre Leon Tally was being escorted from the backstage area. But by that time, all the front row seats were filled in, and even though the PR people assured him they had a seat reserved, he refused to take it saying he didn’t want to kick anyone out of their seat and make a whole big thing about it.
They begged and pleaded with him (“No Andre, it isn’t anyone else’s seat, it’s YOUR seat, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let us take you there!”). However, he absolutely refused to budge and insisted on watching the show from standing. They tried convincing him for another few minutes and he was like “Just start your show because I’m not moving anywhere.”
Then they implored: Do you need anything? Water? Coffee? Anything? But he was like “NO I’m fine!” Anyway, they eventually gave up and Andre watched the show with the commoners in the standing section. So who knows, maybe standing room will be the new front row! [LINK]
This is a great story! It is very rare to find a more humble and down-to-earth man like Andre in the entertainment and fashion industry. Most celebs live for this type of special treatment due to their heightened sense of entitlement and because they automatically think they’re better than you and me.
Sean Combs, for instance, would have settled for nothing less than the entire front row for him and his entourage.

It should be. Did anyone see pics of Paris and her sister Niki sitting in the front row at one of the shows and both were on their PDA’s/Blackberry’s? They were probably texting each other, I thank that is rude.
He look sliek he’s wearing a church choir robe.
Thanks Auntie – I think this story is GREAT!!! Nice to know some celebs realize they are people just like the rest of us.
I still can’t believe he is from Durham, NC. Who knew…
this is a nice thing to hear . i heard that he was a bit of a diva . it’s good to know that he can put his ego aside .
I agree Sandra, it is nice to see famous people act humbly…nothing irks me more than a celeb who thinks they are GOD….requesting to walk on white sheets only, don’t look me in the eye…don’t speak to me unless I speak to you….i need a certain amount of sunshine when I wake up or you’re fired…and etc…I mean really who do these people think they are?
Oh and lets not forget….seperate all of my skittles and m&ms in a bowl and color code them….i mean wth? honestly the diff. colored m&m’s don’t even taste different!
i love andre! if he doesnt agree IT AINT IN. diddy needs to stop takin up seats for his wack azz entourage!
