Good news! Solange was NOT dropped from her record label

Connoisseurs of R&B can breathe easier today. Solange Knowles will record another album after all.

Yesterday, it was widely reported by bloggers, who quoted Jawn Murray of AOL Black Voices, that Solange Knowles was dropped from her record label due to weak sales of her debut album.

However, Solange herself denied the rumors on her twitter page last night. But evidently, some of us ~~who don’t twitter our lives away by waiting for Solange to update~~ missed the memo. Thanks to Toya for posting this statement from Mathew Knowles:

“Our joint venture with Music World and Interscope/Geffen/A&M is very much in place for Solange. We are currently experiencing success at video outlets and radio with the current single T.O.N.Y co-written by Ceelo of Knarls Barkly and Solange. Ceelo and Kid Cudi also appear in the video”.

Just because Matthew says this doesn’t make it true. I still believe she is being dropped & they released this statement to save face.

Its also being reported that he knew in advance she was being dropped and threw Kelly under the bus by saying she was dumped so the heat wouldn’t be on Solo.
Also he was trying to shop her deal to another company (I forget which one) so they could make it seem as if Solo “left” one company for the next.

I’ll believe it when the label releases a statement not Papa Joe.

Knarls Barkley is Ceelo and Thundermouse?? They had a few songs, there was one, can’t remember exactly goes, but the chrous (sp) was I think your craaaazaay……. something like that.

I remember becasue my smart mouth azz son got in trouble one day for singing that song at school as he was walking out of the classroom, right after the teacher told him to be more quiet in class next time.

OK Solo you just brought yourself another 4 months to DRAG this out before the label releases an official statement. WE all know that if you haven’t been dropped as of yet, you WILL get dropped in 2009. Sandra I would venture to say the Solo is lighter than my BELOVED Maxy! I would also say that Bey although light must not have been to light cause they sure tried to make Farah go to a tanning bed so B would remain the lightest. I remember that from an old VIBE interview. I said say it aint so..lol

She got wayyy better promotion than say, Kelly Rowland, and her album over the course of seven months didn’t do well. In these days and times, I can definitely see it happening. Good luck to her. I liked her material, but couldn’t tolerate her voice so I never bought the album…and as long as she’s singing, probably never will. She’s a good writer though.
