My apologies for the slow posts. Sometimes life intervenes and you have to disconnect from the computer to handle business personally. But I appreciate your continued support!
One of my loyal readers, Daisy, informed me of a new blog by Quincy Brown, aka iQ, the spawn of radio announcer Al B. Sure and socialite Kim Porter. As you know, Quincy recently posted his first letter to his father on Globalgrind.com detailing his life with an absent father. iQ poured his heart into that letter — and a subsequent song, but he has yet to hear from his dad.

Hello World.
I published a “Letter To My Father” recently and the tremendous response deserves my sincere thanks. I’m overwhelmed by how many people took the time to read my letter and listen to my record. I received thousands of calls, texts, comments and e-mails. Thank you for your compassion, support, and understanding.
To those that share my experience, I thank you for your courage. Many of you shared with me your life-experiences without your fathers. I say to you “This is only a season,” one aspect of life. Take the lessons and let them make you stronger and wiser. Commit to never make the same mistake.
I realized I was taking a great personal risk to share my feelings. I thought that revealing this part of my life was necessary. It was an important part of a process to help me understand who I am. I released years of disappointment and pain. My healing has begun.
I haven’t heard from my Dad since I published my letter. I know that eventually our paths will cross in this journey called LIFE. READ MORE…

I understand where he is coming from but his dad has to be hurt and feels too shamed because this should have been a private matter.
Sandra I see you got jokes..lol
@Anna I agree and have said that from day one as well.
i agree as well anna.
I’m impressed by his response (if it is indeed his response). I’m left feeling that he is more adult that the others involved.
While I sympathize with this young man for having to deal with an absent father, I question his sincerity because of how he is choosing to deal with the matter. It really annoys me when public people choose to deal with their personal problems publicly. What are you telling me for..I can’t do nothing for you. I really believe if he is that affected he would have handled this situation differently. Just a thought..Reach out to your dad directly? I’ll even play devils advocate..He reaches out and gets no where..Does putting all of this out in the public get him any where? No…Just gets him attention..Which appears to me to be the real cause of all of this.

Look how Tori and Candi Spelling are acting. They go on different talk shows and basically say “call me, we can work it out”. How juvinile.
His “dad” huh? Hm hmm.
This is so sad. Al SHOULD feel ashamed!!
Side note…if Puffy EVER denied that Christian was his son…he’d deserve a hit over his head…that kid looked like Puff conceived him, carried him, birthed him and raised him all by himself.
@anna
I agree with you
Sometimes people have to be publically embarrassed into doing the right thing (take for example when Sandra put the young producer on blast). Though I don’t think that was this young man’s intention.
What has he lost by the public letter … nothing, because the dad wasn’t there anyway.
What has he gained by publically sharing his experience … a following, respect, and the process of healing.
@Sunny he did not gain anything from me
@ Justsaying..Did you really say that.. He should be put on blast – just like the other dead beats posted on the dead beat most wanted wanted bill board- child support usually post… He probably did try to contact him privately and perhaps my use to be love goddess never responded.. You just never know.. Just a young man pleading for his father- I dont see nothing wrong with it. Infact, I wish more people would do it…. Oh by the way, rappers put it in their song all the time.. Didnt ShaQ put it out there as well?
Ok, at this point why can’t Quincy pick up the phone and call his father if he really wants to rebuild their relationship? Hell use your adopted Daddy’s private plane *snicker* and go see him. I really wonder whose agenda he’s pushing at this point.
Again I agree with Anna. I mean its a PRIVATE matter…
can we all stay out of his bizzness?
its immature for him to be as public as he has been with this.
the world has the same problems as he do.
we are only hearing one side of teh story, for all we know kim might be the culprit.

I was thinking that about an hour ago. Some women want the ex to step aside and let the new man take over. A child should never be seperated from his father because mom has moved on.
Riiight..Putting his father “on blast” is going to get his attention and make him be the loving attentive father he is supposedly longing for..Yup..That’s gonna happen…Not likely at all…While I get the whole shaming tactic..I just don’t see how that can be effective if your intent is to mend a broken relationship. It’s quite possibe they need some good ole fashion couch time with a therapist and we the public do not need to be a part of that..If in fact the true intent is to mend a relationship. .But if attention is what you want..Bring on the cameras. People are naturally voyeuristic..We’ll watch.
What has he gained by publically sharing his experience … a following?? YES..which is I’m sure what he really wants., respect?? MAYBE from some..but not here..Respect for what? Not dealing with your problems appropriately? and the process of healing?? Probably..I know it does help to put pen to paper about feelings..But he should have kept it to himself for now until he makes progress in the “healing”.
Is Justine Puff’s son. I don’t see Puff in him ANYWHERE!!
Which is a good thing!
Justin looks like he could be Damon Dash’s son.
hey if quincy is an artist, he is free to express himself as he sees fit. his dead beat dad issue are his story to tell. this letter and song was probably just the last straw. a way for him to put the past behind him (put the ball in al b.’s court, as it were) and move on.
and for all of the people making excuses for al b’s trifling you know what, i don’t care what the mother does. you find a way to stay in touch with your kids. get a court order if you have to. might not be easy, but you do it for your kids!
ashamed that puffy has more money than you? oh well, man up and be a father to your child. no excuses.
how many mothers would just step aside?
Damn I didn’t know it was like that for Q.. I could have sworn I seen Al at his Super Sweet 16 thing on MTV.. I guess it was just for show… Sad- DBD
I haven’t heard from my Dad since I published my letter.
*********************************************
This made me think….had you heard from him before writing the letter but not since you put him on blast OR did he word his sentence incorrectly?
I don’t know. I wish Al would speak on this.
I feel terrible for him. Clearly he is longing for his father and lashing out. I’m so sorry that Al is such a deadbeat that he can’t even man up and call his son. Not even shame excuses that.
