The Obama administration Follies continue as Barack Obama now realizes that gee, maybe he shouldn’t have considered releasing those confidential torture photos after all. Next, he’ll be blaming someone else within his administration for his own decision to release the secret CIA documents, which I’m sure our enemies were more than happy to view.
I can’t wait to hear the excuses from the Kool Aid drinkers who defended Obama’s dangerous decision to put the national security of this country at risk by revealing our secrets to the terrorists.
With Obama in the White House, who needs spies?
The Obama administration signaled yesterday that it may be rethinking its promise to release several dozen photos depicting abuse or alleged abuse of detainees held in U.S. custody abroad.
Justice Department officials told a federal judge late last month that the U.S. government did not intend to fight a court order to turn over a total of 44 photos, which were sought by the American Civil Liberties Union under a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.
A U.S. attorney was unequivocal in a letter to the judge on April 23: “The parties have reached an agreement that the Defense Department will produce all the responsive images by May 28, 2009.”
But White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters yesterday that President Obama has “great concern” about the impact that releasing the photos would have on soldiers fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq. Asked whether the Justice Department’s decision might be reversed, Gibbs declined to reaffirm the government’s intentions.
“I don’t want to get into that right now,” he said, adding a moment later that “I’m not going to add much to that right now.”
A follow-up e-mail to Gibbs seeking clarification was not returned. READ MORE…
Isn’t it time for Obama to step down before he does any more damage?
See Sandra, Obama has been in office long enough now to produce his own gaffes so now you don’t have to make up them anymore.
I think you need to stop listening to Sean Hannity
u do realize that release of those pics was never his idea, and that it was the result of a lost court order right? or did u not even bother to actually get the whole story? Huffington Post, u are not lol
I don’t think this is a gaffe…
Any INTELLIGENT THINKING PERSON worth his grain of salt will CONSTANTLY REASSESS A SITUATION!!! Not just take a GROUNDED STANCE AND STICK TO IT NO MATTER WHAT!!!
So…I’m sure Obama has been looking at those pictures EVERYDAY…and reads the reports of the heightened violence in the middle east…and has decided to keep the rest under wraps…
This has NOTHING to do with lack of transparency…He has let the world know of the transgressions that were done under the previous adminstration…
What Obama is saying is this…
Since the violence has gotten worse over the last few days “over there”….I will not show you the photos of our government acting as though they are part of a eastern Germany gulag in the 1940s…
Now…if you want to pursue this matter…take it to court…
I have NO problem with that stance…because when he ORIGINALLY said that he would show the pics…the violence over there wasn’t this bad…
You HAVE to be able to change directions if you are in positions of power…
THAT’S BEEN ONE OF THE BIGGEST PROBLEMS WITH OUR PAST PRESIDENTS!!!
“CHANGE IS A GOOD THING”!!!
flip flop, flip flop
Average politician, that’s all he is.
The TeaBaggers are back at it……

as a African American who can trace his heritage back to slavery, i dont condone torture. i think that for a person of color to think that its OK to torture, then they really need a wake up call. to think its ok to tore tore somebody because they did it, is not what we teach our own kids, then why should we think its ok for others ?
America is suppose to better than all other countries….if not, why, that why people stand in line and wait for years to come over to the us to have the opportunity to have a chance at the American dream if we acted just like the crappy company they came from. if you did wrong, man up and move on.
What do you call it when the police use tasers? Or, kill unarmed Black men lying face down in a subway?

Huh?? Who cares anymore ??
*smiley with me cutting my nails*
this is typical obama aka flip flop president
saying one thing and doing another, he unleashed a bombshell that might carry him away, one of the first casualities of this mess is nancy pelosi aka mrs stimulus who was aware of the so-called torture and kept quiet, in other words approving the practices and now she`s all over the news doing damage control saying that the CIA lied to congress..hmmm , if obama is a stand-up dude, why doesnt he go ahead and release the photos?

this is where some of you get it wrong.! this has absolutely nothing to do with slavery, this is about men who have made an oath to kill as many americans as they can(yourself included) slaves never threaten to kill anybody, why is the the CIA supposed, arrest these guys, smile to them , be merry and pretty? geez..thats being naive, we`re talking about some of the dangerous individuals you can think of, you have to resort to a greater level of interrogations to make these guys open their mouths
not this is where you get it wrong. dead wrong. absolutely wrong. maybe its because you say african dude, you might not be of African American heritage, but we who are take our history and lineage very serious. to demean slavery as tho it was just something that happen is beyond acceptable, if you need some help, i suggest you read about Nat turner. i suggest that you try, no better educate you self on the ordeal. i am shocked that you think slaves just laid there an accepted being slaves, i suggest you do some reading and fast. maybe if you read a few slave narratives you will become better educated and informed on the subject. it surprises me as to many so called people of color actually have no idea of the history or lives of people of color.
i expect people to be better, i demand that we as American citizen do better and if u choose to act like a salvage, then go live where salvages live. if john mccain said no to torture, then why should i take the advice of someone who doesnt know as well.
