It seems advertisers are bolting en masse from FOX Channel’s top rated Glenn Beck Show apparently in response to a racist comment made by the hyperactive host. If you recall, Beck called Barack Obama a racist.
Gawker.com has compiled a list of advertisers who asked FOX News to pull their ads from the show:
- Wal-Mart
- Best Buy
- Braodview Security
- CVS
- Re-Bath
- Travelocity
- Allergen
- GMAC Financial Services
- Ally Bank (a division of GMAC)
- ConAgra
- Geico
- Proctor & Gamble
- Progressive insurance
- Roche
- Sanofi-Aventis
- Radio Shack
- Men’s Warehouse
- Lawyers.com
- Sargento
I’m sure FOX has a ton of advertisers and this list only amounts to a trickle. But according to Colorofchange.org, the group that organized the boycott, 8 advertisers pulled out within the past hour. We know how these things work: advertisers pull their ads because it’s the politically correct thing to do. But once the smoke clears and the fanfare dies down, it’s business as usual. I’m sure millionaire Beck isn’t crying in his beer though.
