According to the AJC, a man flagged down a police officer outside a house on the 1200 block of Hill Street in northwest Atlanta this morning. The man told the officer he had an argument with his girlfriend who stabbed him.
As the officer watched, Hayes’ girlfriend, 45-year-old Linda Clark, came out of the house brandishing a knife and quickly retreated back inside.
Calrk refused to come out, and the SWAT team soon had the house surrounded. Shortly after 10 a.m. the heavily armed SWAT team entered the house and arrested Clark without incident.
I know you’re thinking there’s more to this story, like maybe she barricaded herself in the house with an AK-47, a Mac 11 and a bunch of clips. But she was armed with only a steak knife.
How would the cops know what was inside? How can they be sure that she wasn’t a mad woman with a gun, or even worse, a bomb. You just never know and they rather be safe than sorry.
Sandra don’t you underestimate the power of a steak knife. They are the weapon of choice for many. LOL.

I am quite sure that President Barack H. Obama had something to do with this.
Atlanta finest needs to swoop down on the real criminals. Can we all say overreaction? Who the hell is training these police chiefs?? They need to throw out the police training manual.
LOL at KayCei…the steak knife brings back memories.
See if this had turned out differently and the cop went in by himself only to have his brain blown out by some crazy chick you’d be saying why didn’t he call for backup or follow procedure? Clearly the chick isn’t thinking straight, otherwise she would have come out of the house and spoken to the officer not barricaded herself in; I don’t blame the officer for calling for back up.
As a person who works in law enforcement, we have to plan for the worse. If she has taken the violent action of causing bodily harm with a foreign object (agg assault) upon a loved one, whose to say what she would do to strangers attempting to remove her from her home? We’re not in the business of predicting people’s actions! If that were the case, we’d either prevent things from happening or become rich & successful psychics. Officers, as much as they are criticized, are doing their JOBS so they should not be subject to injury/death just b/c someone else can’t control their emotions.
People not in this field have NO CLUE all of the issues we go through. They think they know but all they really know is what they see on the news which is usually only partially true. The news media gets initial information from scanning police radio channels. Most radio talk is in code & some is so private that even if they know the codes, they can’t determine exactly what we’re saying. So please don’t assume that you know all of the facts!
@Karaz
Thank you! That scenario you described has actually happened before so they definitely did the right thing by allowing a trained SWAT team do their job. SWAT is trained in a specialized manor that patrol officers are not. Better to overuse those resources than allow an officer to be injured or murdered!
Sandra must have had a bad run-in w/ police before…
So if a WOMAN with a knife in a domestic situation gets a SWAT TEAM to settle this incident… And Y’ALL seem to think that this is actually warranted
THEN what kind of enforcement do Everyday hardened street criminals AND serial rapists AND child molesters AND habitual violent criminals AND vicious street drug-lords & gang-bangers (ETC ETC ETC…) suppose to get ???
You know INDIVIDUALS who are FAR MORE dangerous than a chick with a knife AT HER OWN HOUSE, How ARE handled
