Whoopi: ‘What Polanski did wasn’t rape-rape’

I’m sorry, but Whoopi Goldberg is a moron. Today, she insulted the intelligence of good people everywhere by suggesting that what director Roman Polanski did to a 13-year-old girl 30 years ago “wasn’t rape-rape.” What the F is rape-rape?

The girl was 13-years-old and being plied with drugs and alcohol by a grown man. But Whoopi suggests that the sex between the child and the 46-year-old Polanski was consensual.

Whoopi argues the point that the world doesn’t share our uncompromising views on child molestation and therefore WE are behind the times.

Roman Polanski was arrested in Switzerland last week and is awaiting extradition. There is no statute of limitations on child molestation charges.

Okay Sandra I have to agree with you on this. If a child is underage it is rape no matter if she wanted it or not. Rape is rape. I see young girls all the time 15 and 16 with 24 and 25 year old baby fathers. This is rape. Some turn they heads thinking the girl is just fast and hot but no matter what its still rape.

I think that this IS a very old crime, but at the same time – it WAS a crime and apparently, the statuate of limitations has not run out.

Just because he didn’t grab this girl out of her bedroom on a dark night doesn’t mean it wasn’t rape. It’s almost like it’s being excused away because it wasn’t that.

Those are my same ?. When I was 13 I was still playing with Barbie’s, not in some grown ass mans hot tub. In March it gets dark earlier. We had to be in the house by the time the street lights come on, that would mean it’s dark at 6.

The MODELING Industry has always catered to Young Teenage girls as if they were adults… And if I’m not mistaken wasn’t she a Model or aspiring Model

And over there in Europe they run through Teenage GIRLS like we use toilet paper here in the U.S.

To me personally a grown person having sex with a minor aged individual is in fact SOME FORM of Rape… To what degree I GUESS depends on the state statutes-n-laws regarding such matters

When dealing with the Law, rape is not just rape or rape-rape. There is a law definition that applies. Teenagers engaging in sex is partaking in sex. Rape is according to whatever the law in each state say that it is. Also, the young girl involved in this matter, according to some of the articles I’ve read, has resolved this long ago “with a settlement out of court” and doesn’t want to further bother the man.

well the STORY is/was….she was trying to pursue modeling career…and was on a PRIVATE photo shoot with mr. polanski. hence her presence being there ALONE.

Coworkers and I were just talking about this. I was wondering if there was a statute of limitations on this. Why did it take so long for them to catch him if they could just have him extradited. I heard the victim say she’d forgiven him and would just like the whole thing to go away already. I’m sure she got paid for this a long time ago.

Difference is R. Kelly always maintained his innocence (I know we didn’t ride with it, LOL), but….he didn’t flee the country, and he had his days in court..

I’m thinking he fled to a country that didn’t have an extradition treaty with America……and if my memory serves me correct, France (where the news said he “dipped” to) doesn’t.

There was a guy (YT) who killed a dentist in his office(downtown chicago) here some years ago and fled to France……his mother was from France, so that made him an automatic French Citizen…..dude still there…..

Because he stayed in countries that wouldn’t extradite him. There’s a process that the U.S. has to go through to have a fugitive captured on foreign soil. The Swiss agreed to help because he owned a house there. But every time the U.S. thought they had him, someone would tip him off and he would go running back to France. This time they got him because the U.S. and the Swiss knew exactly what flight he was on.

The context of this clip is key:
Whoopi was trying trying to explain the difference between what happened and what he was charged with. She was trying to keep ABC legal happy by clarifying that he wasn’t charged with rape & he didn’t plead guilty to rape. He plead guilty to having sex with a minor, which isn’t rape-rape…

She wasn’t excusing Roman Polanski or his actions, she was clarifying up the legal facts to CTA.

Now Spongebob you’ve found an expert on the Tate Murders. I’m so morbid. Tate and friends were murdered in the 60’s Polanski was out of the country at the time of the murders. They were married and she was about 8 months pregnant at the time of the murders. Also I think the day or so before he was caught one of the chicks that participated in Sharon Tates/friends murders died from brain cancer.

Another note: The chick that played Murphy Brown..uggh.. can’t remember her name lived in that same house a few years before Sharon Tate did so it could have also been her.
