Every Wednesday night, rapper Jeezy treats himself to a dinner for one at his favorite sushi restaurant. During an appearance on TODAY, Jeezy said he wines and dines himself every week.
Jeezy joined TODAY to talk about his upcoming black tie residency in Las Vegas, “Legend of the Snowman,” featuring a 101-piece orchestra.
When asked about his solo sushi dates, Jeezy said, “I’m dating myself right now… As a man you should always take time to be with yourself, and I happen to love sushi. So every Wednesday night, I take myself out on a sushi date and I get dressed up – I do the whole thing. And I go out and I have a bottle of Sake, a bottle of wine and my favorite sushi, and I just date myself. I think it’s amazing.”
Jeezy’s solo dinners are part of his healing journey. He’s an advocate for self-help, including taking nature walks alone.

The 48-year-old rapper takes pride in his three children. “Everybody has a different personality. Of course, the smallest one is the boss as always,” he said. “My oldest daughter is the love of my life. And my son is my rock… My kids are my foundation. They are my biggest supporters and they are the reason that I get up every morning doing what I do,” he added.

Jeezy’s eldest child is his son Jadarius Dykes from a prior relationship. He also has daughter Amra Nor Jenkins by his ex Mahlet “Mahi” Gebremedhin, and youngest daughter Monaco Mai Jenkins with his ex-wife Jeannie Mai Jenkins.

Jeezy rose from humble roots to pioneer trap music in the south. He released two independent albums before signing with Def Jam Recordings.
His debut album, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 (2005), peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The lead single, “Soul Survivor” (featuring Akon), peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remains his highest-charting song. Jeezy earned a Grammy nomination for his single, “Put On” (featuring Kanye West) off his third album, The Recession (2008).
In 2012, Young Jeezy’s single “I Do” received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance.
