Responding to intense pressure from stock holders and the public, Gillette — makers of quality razor products — has dropped Tiger Woods as its sponsor.
This decision follows on the heels of Pepsico/Gatorade’s decision to decline renewing Woods’ sports drink contract — though Gatorade claimed the decision was made before Woods’ much publicized transgressions. None of us believe that though (good try, Pepsi).
A number of companies with smaller market footprints have also dropped Woods’ ads from prime time.
Gillette made its announcement as Woods announced his decision to take an indefinite hiatus from the world of golf to pursue his favorite pastime — bagging dumb blonds.
“As Tiger takes a break from the public eye, we will support his desire for privacy by limiting his role in our marketing programs,” said Gillette, a division of Procter & Gamble.

Of the $110 million that Tiger Woods pulls in a year, probably over 90% of that is sponsorship money. Not winning PGA tours. So if all his sponsors dropped him, his yearly income goes down from $110 mill to like $3 or $4 million. Same as with Venus and Serena Williams. Prize money is nothing. All the richest athletes making the biggest money do so through endorsements.
Now, if his yearly spending is on par with his current earnings then Tiger has a major problem with these people dropping his contracts because he will not be able to afford to keep up with his lifestyle…and all those MILLIONS of dollars he’s promising his wife to stay with him for a few more years, he won’t have it to give to her when she finally does leave.
So yes, losing his sponsors is in fact, a huge deal.

I really don’t think SR is riding his jock. She is just reporting the news. Tiger coverage is on 24/7 from CNN, Nancy Grace, Entertainment Tonight, The Daily 10, Show Bizz Tonigh, Espn, The Joy Bahar Show, Chelsey Lately, Wendy Williams, The View etc…. Sandra rides our Presidents jock more than anyone.

He makes more money like every other athlete and many celebs from endorsements. He has a $59,000,000 Yacht and many homes. Our we to think (they) he paid cash for them? Why would anyone? How are they suppose to get their tax write offs? The interest and renovations made on a home (even the wealthy) are tax write offs. If I make $100,000/yr I don’t want to be taxed on the whole $100,000. I want the interest on my investments to be deducted as well as charitable contributions.
The sad thing about this is that athletes STILL won’t take it as a lesson. Tiger’s situation should make these men think twice, but unfortunately, it won’t. You know the conservatives are loving this

The one thing that I hope has some kind of lasting effect from this mess is that entertainers (men, women,in sports and hollywood) start to see that the same media they use to line their pockets with is the same media that will empty those pockets when they mess up.
This also applies to us, the public, that buys or chooses to not buy what they are selling us. We are the consumers so if they tick us off or act in a way that is not to our liking, we then choose not to give our money or attention to them. What part of that is not being understood by all these people who work with the sole purpose of entertaining and being liked by the public?

I watched 5 minutes of that show. I cliked on the “info” and it said it was in 2004. Why don’t I remember that show? Anywhoo, I changed to the Cin, Min game. Wife Swap was when the wifes left to take care of other families, Trading Spouses is alittle too much.

Jersey Shore has had much back lash. Older Italians don’t like the way these kids protray their race, but when I think of “Italians(which I am a % of one)do I think of the MOB? ( and Road To Perdition) Sterotypes come in all forms and are “sterotypes for a reason(to me).

Ok. The networks were not dumb to compete with each other. The Jackson Dynasty is airing now at 9 and The White House Christmas airs at 10. The Jacksons Dynasty(nasty) is in Dynasty, they are talking about Michael in the present because the camera shows June 16th. Michael passed on June 25th.

I have been married for many years and when hubby comes home we may give each other a kiss but for him to give his wife a kiss and a hug looked forced. If I hear the word “ungelon” and it’s not in a commercial I a going to scream.
I know in the next half hour I am going to have to get my tissues out, not because I have been sick over the weekend with what my brother calls H1N1, but because they are going to find out Michael passed away. It was funny when one of the brothers said that Jermain was going to go “crying to mama”. The sound track they were trying to make got erased. I am, so far enjoying the show.
I loved the show. It does go to show that what does happen in your younger years can affect your grown up years. Not just the passing for Michael but how in my mind they let Joe pimp them out. Not JMO, but my observation.
