Remember missing Call State grad Mitrice Richardson who went missing after being released from a California jail? Her case has been ruled a homicide three months after being released from Lost Hills Police station at 1:25 a.m. on Sept. 17.
Richardson, 24, was arrested in Malibu on Sept. 16 for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and for not paying her restaurant bill.
Here are the police recordings between Mitrice’s concerned mother and the police in chronological order. The only recording that’s missing is the one in which the police informed Mitrice’s mother that she was released hours after her mother pleaded with police not to release her daughter into an unfamiliar area after dark without a car.
Thanks to loyal reader Erin for the video link.
This a very sad situation. The restaurant owner said he called the mother and she said to let her go to jail so she would learn lesson because she had been hanging around the wrong type of people so i know the mother is feeling some guilt
I’m very sad to hear this.
So where is her body? How the hail does someone just disappear into thin air? This is sad. Something aint right with this story.
We’re unimpotant* and expendable to them. This is a mess. If she was yte we would have been bombarded with her image everywhere. A similar thing is happening here in Chicago where black and hispanic missing women are labeled runaways but never missing.
This case has been a source of concern for many African American families. This shady sheriff’s department and their YT’s sheriffs had something to do with this girls disappearance. And the lying Restaurant owner lied…there is no tape of Mitrice’s mother. Her grandmother called and tried to pay the bill and they would not accept her debit card unless she was present to show her ID. Where are the frigging tapes when they released Mitrice. Where are the vidoe tapes of this woman walking out of the station???Where is the audio tape of who she called immediately before she was released. W
WE WANT JUSTICE FOR MITRICE NOW!!!!
Very sad – my heart and prayers go out to the family
This is trully one of the saddest things I’ve heard… She was a beautiful girl, I surely hope she had a peaceful death..

**** As a parent you want your child to have to learn the “hard way” sometimes.. But I can only imagine how she must be feeling now.. That is trully sad…

How is it ruled a homicide when no one confessed and I didn’t know they were looking for a body but her alive.
I feel so sad for her mother. She tried her best to make sure her baby was ok….

That raised a good question… How did they even know she was dead???
Lots of questions, Not enough answers..
There is more to this story that is not being released………
This is so sad. You can feel the mother’s pain in her voice on the recording. She knew something was amiss…mother’s intuition. Yet they kept telling her not to worry that her daughter was most likely okay. I hope this family can get some closure one way or the other.
:crying1: This is so sad! I must agree with the others, “where is the body?” My thoughts and prayers go out to her family…
My heart really goes out to this family because my sister in law (Shirley Geanes) went missing in 2004 and never found her. She was ont of the ones they did a story on in Essence about all the black women that go missing but the media doesn’t publicize it as much as the white women. I pray that all the crap the sherriff’s dept is tryin to hide comes to the light so Mitrice’s family can get the answers they need

Sorry to hear that… My prayers go out to you and your familia!!!
I can’t believe that there’s no police procedure about not releasing intoxicated people… common sense would tell you not to allow anyone to go free if they appear intoxicated so they don’t cause harm to themselves or others.
I pray for Mitrice’s family, especially her mother, this holiday season must be so hard for them.
They ruled it a homicide, but stressed that they have no evidence that she is dead. The sheriff said that he ruled as a homicide, because then they could assign some of their best detectives to the case. I really hope that they find her alive, but I think it’s unlikely considering how much time has passed.
This is so sad. Like others have said…why are they calling this a homicide? The last I heard, they were still looking for her, now they are ruling it a homicide? How can that be without a body? Just too many unanswered questions.
I can’t even imagine what her mother is going through. My thoughts and prayers are definitely with her and her family.
This is really sad. I believe the restaurant owner and the police had something to do with her disappearance. As someone said up top, how somebody gonna disappear in thin air? This is some BS. Where are the fliers of her missing?
@quitta
the family put up a bunch, nancy grace did a segment on it
This is beyond sad and it reeks of FOUL PLAY.
This is truly a sad situation here. My heart and prayers go out to Mitrice and her family. But I, like someone else said, think there is a lot more to this story than what they are saying.
How does something like this happen????
I was just wondering what happened to her the other day. i follow a woman, Jasmyne Cannick, that has been following Mitrice’s story. It’s just relly odd that she would just dissappear. There was rumor that her current girlfriend was known to drug her women. I wonder if she’s a suspect?
I hope the family gets the closure they need.
I WOULDN’T BE SURPRISED IF THE POLICE WANTED TO “TEACH HER A LESSON” IF THEY KNEW SHE WAS A LESBIAN
@BROWNSUGAPOET
I thought the exact same thing when I first learned of the story.
@ BROWNSUGAPOET
Oh okay. Was Nancy giving it to them? I
her show. Is she still talking about her twins every damn episode? LOL
@ Quitta
Girl I swear to God I’m tired of hearin about Lucy and John David! She had the family’s attorney on there and he was telling Nancy that the polica dept had missin tapes and then said they took her to jail but didn’t do a sobriety test and the restaurant owner clearly said he thought she was under the influence of something because she said she was sent to avenge MJ’s death. Then the police said they did a test later! If the restaurant owner told the she was rambling on and on why would they later release her just because she said she was fine!
something is not right with this. why didnt she call someone to come get her? why let her go free if she was drunk?
Sandra,
unlike most of your well written post this post left too much info out. ie. was the body found and where? how was she killed. I had to go through the comments to find this info.
@ Brownsugapoet
No, no, something ain’t right.
It sickens my heart and strikes a nerve. I have a son who is in his senior year and lives off campus. He is my mouthy one and often raises his REVOLUTIONARY fist a little to offten and a little to loudly. I am concerned that he is going to find himself in a Rodney King reneactment.
I have an 18 year old daughter who is living the campus life, away from home for the first time as a freshman in college. She is like a refugee that just crossed over into the states. All wide eyeed and gulliable. I pray often that in her attempt to explore life that she doesn’t put herself in harms way. It is a constant on my mind when I read these stories.
I work for a university. I often chastise my student workers, both young women in their early 20’s about staying in the office late. They often stay well past 6, working on papers due to the quiteness and the seclussion of the office.
One of my student workers jokes with me, that I don’t have to worry about her becoming a 20/20 segment, because she is a black girl and black girls don’t get coverage.
My heart goes out to this mother. Our children are at times in the FOG of IMMORTALITY and believe that nothing can happen.
Not to take anything away from Caucaisan Families who loose their children in tragic circumstances. My heart aches for them as well.
But it unfortunante that when its our children there is barely a whisper.
May God place his angels around each of our homes. May he place protecting angels arond each of our children. These things I sincerely ask for.
This is so sad. Something really isn’t right in this story.
I am so saddened by this. I live in Houston, but when I heard of this case I wondered why it never got the attention that the asian student that was found dead at Yale or Harvard did. There are so many holes in this story its not even funny. I have always felt that the police dept knew much more than they were telling…
How is it you say she isnt intoxicated, but the owner as well as waiters and other patons say that Mitrice was saying she was from Mars and came to avenge MJ’s death?
Why wasnt Mitrice placed in the 51/50 old if she wasnt drunk yet clearly disturbed that night? Why was she even taken to jail for the small amount of weed and failure to pay her tab? Both are offenses that could have been handled with a citation…Why did two different police officials give two different accounts of what happened? One said they released her because the jail was full, but records proved only one other person was there. The next person said they offered her a cot and she said no. There are mant other questions that dont have answers….
All I can do is pray for Mitrice…
I pray that Mitrice is still alive somewhere and will make it home ok. If she is no longer with us I pray that she did not suffer and that her family locates her so that she can be buried and they can try to have some sense of closure…And last but not least I pray that if she was indeed killed that the person or persons are located and punished to the maximum extent!
This is so sad and shady.
First, let me say to post # 16—I am truly sad about your sister in law and i’m sure she is miling down from the heavens.
Now on the topic. When I first heard this on the news, my first instinct was that the cops are covering something up. Time has passed and nothing has been found about her disapperance. Did they ever send a patrol car to the house where she was last seen outside of? This is not making any sense. They need to do lie detectors on the whole department or send a team of FBI officials to take over the case but we all know that will not happen. Once again, our black woman are reduced to nothing. May her family find peace and I pray that if she is not alive, that she is resting in peace.
This case saddens me, I don’t really know what to make of it. May God bless her family and hopefully her body will be found so she can receive a decent burial.
My heart goes out to mother..Sad Story
My heart goes out to her family.
May the Lord comfort this family in their time of sorrow.
Yeah, somebody needs to look at the Sheriffs department. Maybe they were trying to have their way with her and someting happened in between. So now they covering that sh!t up. That’s why you will never catch me in Texas or any other southern state, sh!t I get nervous leaving fulton county!!!
So sad, What’s strange to me is the last caller reporting her sitting on his back porch. He’ seems a little suspect. He said she was gone like 5 minutes ago, so the officers should have been there with dogs sniffing her scent & could have searched that trail and wooded area a little more.
this is a strange case. why would the police let her go off alone…especially if her mother already contacted them saying she can come the next day and that she had concerns for her being alone in an unfamiliar area.
could something have happened to her while in police custody and it’s getting covered up?
if they released her and then there was a report of a strange woman at that man’s home maybe the police went to search and found her. then something could have happened after that between the police and her.
May God Bless her and bless us all! Well wishes out to her family and friends…Rest now Mitrice and live good with your Father thou art in Heaven!
I believe the police killed her and disposed of her body.
I’m with #47 I know in my heart that something isn’t right. I want to say to everyone that is reading this lurkers and all. If you feel in your heart in some kind of way for this sister please pray for her. Let us all pray for her right now. Whoever shall read my comment please pray that whoever has her know where she is or know what happened to her be brought to justice. We have to take a stand.
I’ve been meaning to ask about her, Sandra. There have been several cases were the police rule someone’s death a homocide w/o a body. Here in the Bay there is a lil boy, Hasani Campbell, that has been missing since the summer. They arrested his foster parents for homocide, but subsequently released them for lack of evidence.
It sounds like the police killed this lady & are covering it up…
there is nothing about this that makes sense to me. none of it.
This happened in Malibu, a very wealthy beach community about 10 miles or so up the coast in Southern Cali. Mostly them, not us. This beautiful young lady has some mental issues according to her family though she is a 4.0 college student and she is a lesbian. Arrested for a little of nothing by not a police department hat has to answer to higher powers but Sheriff’s in a town that is run by money, protected by Money. Right nearby the station is mountainous areas as well as across Pacific coast highway uninterrupted pacific ocean for miles and miles. No lights, winding dark road. She was not protected NOR served. They were wrong to let her go, 5 more hours, would have been daylight.
From friends in Law enforcement, its good that they declared it a homicide, they can now take the investigate to another level. I hope it makes a difference. So many things are wrong with this story, pray for her and her family.
This young lady was absolutely gorgeous and I believe that some ig’nant and undercover nasty as hell white police officer tried to take advantage of her while she was confused. Poor Mitrice would have fought him like a hellcat and he ended up killing her, whether deliberately or accidentally, then covered it up thinking “she’s a nigger” so he can get away with it..white devil!!! I am going to call the FBI General Counsel’s Office about this tomorrow
Imma contact Al Sharpton and Messy Jesse too, as well as Mitrice’s congressman..thinking I’m lying..I am SO SICK of people acting like Black women ARE NOTHING..WE ARE NOT NOTHING, WE ARE QUEENS OF THE WORLD
Justice for Mitrice
Okay how can we blame the cops call them white devils when we dont know what happened.
Its sad sad as hell but she is an adult they werent going to keep her just cause her mother said so.
I hope they get to the bottom of this and I hope the cops had nothing to do with it… cause bad cops always over shadow the good ones.
