You voted and you decided that the winner of the $500 shopping spree should be Acemaster! Thank you to everyone who shared their touching stories with us. There will be more chances to win giveaways, tickets, etc., in the very near future!
Special thanks to Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, The Ludacris Foundation and Jamal Coleman of J. Coleman Presents.
Here is Acemaster’s touching comment that won him the $500 shopping spree with Ludacris and Gabrielle Union next Wednesday:
Dear Sandra, and Luda,
I just want to say this is truly touching what you guys are doing. There many people like you. I think I should win. I havent had much at all in life. I was basically dealt a bad card. I just accepted it and hoped for the best. I am a full time college student/athlete. I am majoring in Pre-med Biology.I have to work because my mother is sick, and disabled. She cannot provide anything for me or my brothers. I kind feel looked down upon from alot of people, because of the lack of things I do not posses. It is hard trying to make good grades, and doing sports. I lost my job because of my busy schedule.
If I win this it would impact my life for the better, and know there are good people in the world who care for others. This opportunity will help me mature into a successful male.
Thank you Sandra, and Luda.
Yesterday I announced a contest to win a $500 shopping spree and to attend a private event with Ludacris and Gabrielle Union courtesy of The Ludacris Foundation and Sandrarose.com.
I asked you to leave a comment explaning why you thought your husband, boyfriend, etc., should win. The submissions were all very touching and heartwarming. But there can only be one winner.
So I have included comments from the finalists in this post and I need you to help us pick the winner by participating in the poll below. Just tick the box next to the name of the Finalist who you think deserves the shopping spree the most.
PLEASE NOTE: the winner must live in the Atlanta area and be available to attend this Exclusive event next Wednesday, April 21st. If you are entering the contest on behalf of your husband, boyfriend, son, brother etc., he must attend the event with you. No exceptions.
In the event that you or your man cannot attend the event together, an alternate winner will be chosen. The poll will be closed today at 7pm. I will announce the winner later today.

I would like to nominate my boyfriend for this prize. We have a child together and she is our world. She was born last July. Although we thought we had all our ducks in a row, we haven’t been able to dodge all the trials that life throws. He has been searching for a job and is currently being considered for a caretaking position for the mentally challenged. Read More…

Hello, I would like to enter my husband to be considered in this contest. We got married Dec 2008. I lost my job two days before we got married. I have since not been able to find employment. For most of 2009 I was sick and finally a few months ago I was admitted into the hospital where I stayed for two weeks. My husband has had to take on more than one job in order to support us including my 15 year old son (who is not his biological child). Read More…
NECELOVE Says:
Thanks for the opportunity! I will like to send this for my (oldest) 19 year old son. He has had a job since he was 15 working at Krogers for 2 1/2 years. He resigned for his senior year in high school to continue playing football. He played hard, he even got up on weekends to help special children learn to play sports with his coach. My son didn’t get a scholorship for sports like we prayed for. Read More…
PATRICK Says:
I’d like to unselfishly nominate myself. I’m a senior undergrad student about to graduate and enter the “Real World”. For years I have never had the pleasure of treating myself to nice things, with all the school expenses and tuition I’ve had to incur over the years, it was nearly illogical and impossible to do such a thing. SUPER-BOOGER Says:
Dear Sandra ~ I think my husband deserves to win this shopping spree. Even though he works very hard for a local sheriffs department he doesn’t make a whole lot of money. He very often does with out so my son (who is not biologically his) and I can have things we want and need! Read More…
BROWNELOVELY Says:
Sandra and Luda,
I think my fiance deserves to win this because of everything he’s been through the last few years. We have three kids and although he works the temp jobs or receives his unemployment when the job ends…he ALWAYS makes sure we have money for food and bills. This usually means that he has little to no money left for himself. Read More…

I would like to nominate my brother (is that allowed?). He has been looking for employment for almost a year and has had no luck. Right now he is relying on my mom mostly to help him out. He has two daughters. A new suit would really boost his confidence and give him the confidence he needs to continue to get his life together.
BAMABEAUTY Says:
This one is easy for me. I nominate my brother. A couple of months ago, he reached an agreement with his eight year old son’s mother. His son is now living with my brother. My brother not only cares for his own son, but helps me to raise mine as well. Because of my work/school schedule, he picks up and takes my three year-old to school as well. He takes both of the boys on fishing trips. Read More…
Ummmmm…so I guess my scholarship request was declined???

I love when my kids get a stack for submitting an essay. This is hard, who do I choose?
I was going to say the same thing who lives in the ATL area and I want to go to the event to network
it’s very hard to choose. i just want to encourage everyone to keep the faith! i remember when my hubby was out of work. all the so-called “executives” amongst his friends and families could not help him out, not even for a clean-up job. just when he thought there was no hope, something came up. it’s really hard on a man out here so good luck to the winner and don’t spend it all on a louis backpack!
I’m sorry to sound mean. I couldn’t read them all. Toooooo many sob stories for me on a Friday evening. Although i did reason one from Ebony yesterday about her husband in the army. I would have voted for her.
@KS ebony got disqualified cause she won tix last yr to a concert
@Civil-Yeah she declined your scholarship proposal..
Better luck next time….
Do all these people live in the ATL…..Suppose the winner doesn’t will y’all fly them out….
just glad that there is light being shined on brothers who do what’s right and bust their ass to support their families however they can. too many times all you hear about are deadbeat dads and no good men that people don’t realize that we(good men) are still out in force, it’s just that we’re to busy doing what we’re supposed to do to or simply not interested in screaming out to the world what we do. not that it’s anything that you’re not supposed to do anyway, but i’m sure you guys get my point. kudos to all the brothers out there doing your thing
I love it Sandra! I think itz awesome what you guys are doing!
Damnit Isc this is hard. Let me read again then I’ll vote.

This is hard, child labor was easier. Glad we have until 7 to vote. I can’t make up my mind. They are all winners to me.
@Civil…You will not a scholarship if our business plans workout!
Wow Thanks for adding me to the poll, and thanks to those who have voted for me so far :-)..And I do live in ATL
@ Patrick– I feel the same way. It’s just awesome that my brother will get to see this poll that includes him! Sweet.
Thanks guys!
Me and husband lives in Atlanta as well. Thank u so much for ur consideration.
Ok I didn’t mean to hit send yet! I just got in from the doctor’s so I haven’t been able to be on line until now. I’d just like to thank Sandra and anybody that’s voted for my husband for even considering us. I swear once I’m better I’m gonna write a book about all that we’ve just been thru. The beauty of it is whether my husband gets the shopping spree or not I was able to tell this story. If for no other reason other than for it to be a true testimony. Thank you!
Where is the box that you tick next to the name?
Am I too late?
Aww Ebony
Gotta go home people…I’m about an hour away from ATL….To everyone that shared today: It’s a time to be happy, not sad. Be sad if we did not have great men in our lives! Be encouraged and encourage your loved one-even after this moment has passed.
Bye!
To everyone that has voted for my fiance…THANKS & HUGS!!!
He was surprised when I told him about this and he sends his love and thanks as well! This has obviously become more than a “contest” and I was happy to read each and every person’s story. There are a lot of great men out there and I’m glad some of them got to shine today
I’m sure they feel good just seeing everyone out here voting and showing support!
It was really hard to choose. No shade on anyone who shared their story. I enjoyed reading each and everyone one of them. I did cast my vote for ACEMASTER. Congrats, have fun, and take lots of pics. Everyone should give themselves a pat on the back for not just having wonderful s/o/husbands in their life but great children and hero brothers. I appreciate what a child will do to sacrfice for their parent(s). All nominated are great role models. Keep on just doing what you do to enrich the lives of those you love and those you don’t even know but see your “example” by what you do naturally.
Congrats to Acemaster
God Bless and Good Luck in school! Keep the FAITH and Keep Pressing on and remember God is ABLE
Sandra I guess this means you were not able to produce an extra tix for me to attend the event
maybe next time.
Congratulations to Acemaster and God Bless to everyone else. I said a prayer for everyone. It is nice to read about black men doing something positive inspite of all obstacles.
Congrats to Acemaster, and to those who voted for me, although I don’t speak very often, I am truly humbled by your votes and future encouragement as things begin to get “real” for me lol. Thanks again.
Congrats to Acemaster! Have fun and take some pics.
Thanks again for everyone who voted!
Congrats to Acemaster for his win!! I hope this experience will make him smile and feel better even if it’s for a day! The beauty of everything that we’re goin thru is our faith is so strong that we still get up daily feeling good! God is so awesome that I know that we’ll make it. I’ve been reading Sandra Rose for over three yrs, I just hardly ever comment, I’m going back to lurking now :o)

Patrick your comment touched my heart also. We are proud of you. I wish Sandra would set up a pay pal for us to be able to give/donate to those looking for new wardrobes to step up their career from college game. Or pay pal and have them write a essay and set up a scholarship fund w/your loyal readers to distribute once a yr.
*Her Loyal Readers.
Congrats to ACEMASTER! Stay the course & remember clothes don’t make the MAN! (But I feel you….just feels good to LOOK NICE
)
@Anna thats a great idea I would donate 25.00 to Patricks clothing fund
Sandra needs to let me start a non profit for her so I can put my degree to use.
@Anna, That would be too kind and generous of you or the readers of this site to do lol. Your heart is in a great place though, So I take complete comfort in that
I would have loved to nominate my husband(we don’t live in ATL) is a good man, he does not call himself a stepdad, but a dad/father to my kids. He loves me for me and I am a handfull. My husband is “my Charlie Brown”. He takes the good with the bad and he can make me laugh, smile and cry(he makes me cry in a good positive way). He still after all these yrs. can make my heat skip a beat. He makes my heart melt. We have fun times together, we have exciting times together, but we also have to be mature enough to make it work together. So far so good. I know my husband is probably lurking. Hey babe, you know “You Are A Good Man Charlie Brown”. Charlie Brown is also a clown, but in a good way. I Love You Man/Husband/Lover and my Male BFF. Let us all appreciate what we have vs what we don’t have. Money is nice and pays the bills, most can get a job to make that happen, to have a mate in your life that you appreciate and love to be around is priceless.
Anna…I agree with you 100%!!!!
Congrats Acemaster!!
I would contribute to that fund cause I know it can be hard stepping up your clothing game after college. I was lucky because I commissioned into the Air Force…so well…they tell us what to wear.
Sandra thanks for putting my name as super-booger. LOL
Thank you so much Sandra Rose family. I am totally blessed for this opportunity. God Bless you.

That’s her way of showing love.
Aww Congratulations to everyone especially Acemaster, as GOD blesses you with a new wardrobe, may he also bless you and your family with new beginnings apart and as a whole. ——- Anna, I think that is an excellent idea. There are many women on this site blessed with a good husband.
I love my husband because he knows I’m pretty, do a whole lot & it doesn’t get any better than me. J/K, because making me happy is as easy/automatic as breathing is for him.
@ Anna
Gurl….. I guess you are right!!
Why does it feel like I won the $500 prize? I have my “Charle Brown” and he did ask me if he could go out tonight. He did go out and hang w/his friends. I don’t have a problem with it. I was suppose to hang out with my BFF and plans got changed because of the weather. Tomorow is not promised but no need to not plan for it. Phone a friend ppl. they mean more to you than you think.
Congratulations AceMaster!!
Congrats Acemaster! And thanks to those that voted for us. Wow, I am happy that we were even considered! Well hopefully there will be a post showing all the wonderful items that Acemaster got at the event. Have fun for us all!!
Congrats Acemaster! Have lots of fun!!!
Congratulations to Acemaster!! Me nor my brother don’t live any where near Atlanta and didn’t know how we would get there (I put my story in before I realized we had to be in the A to win).
How do I contact sandra????
Acemaster, I’m emailing you now. In the future, you can always reach me at sandra @ sandrarose.com (remove the spaces)
