According to the folks over at Upscale Hype, Solange Knowles is something of a shoe snob: In an interview with Refinery29.com, Solange sniffed, “The shoe is very important. I can’t even fuck with you if your shoe game is slacking.”
At least now you know that it takes a mean shoe game to even register a blip on Solange’s radar. Don’t you love it when a broad openly admits she’s superficial and shallow?
She states that her style is a blend of Diana Ross, The Fela Kuti Queens, Björk, ’70s-era Chaka Khan, Chloë Sevigny, ’90s Erykah Badu and her mom in the ’70s and ’80s. Yet, what I love the most about her is her respect and appreciation for the shoe game. Whether you know it or not, your choice in shoes speaks volumes about the type of person you are. They say not to judge a book by its cover, but when you’re dealing with shoes, you can throw that saying out the window. Shoes provide information on where you are in your life mentally, your fashion direction, most of the time – your financial situation, where your interest lie, and if you’re conservative, outgoing, daring or experimental. This is funny, because I was listening to a radio show the other morning and they were talking about this, so the radio jock said there was some poll that said most women have 19 pairs of shoes in their closet. I was like GTFOH! I own over 400 pairs of shoes. It sounds ridiculous, but I love SHOES so I can relate to Solange and her shoe game. The shoe for me is the most important accessory. It actually buy shoes and then buy the wardrobe to match. I buy shoes every weekend. (I do pay my tithes and give to charity)…but I just love shoes! You will catch me in a cowgirl hat one day with some jeans and a beater, I might be in a bohemian dress the next but without the fro…I guess what I am trying to say is I don’t have to change into a different person based on the style of clothing I am wearing.

@Mamacita I find it superficial. Just because a man doesn’t spend time worrying about what type of shoe he throws on doesn’t make him less than a man. I have to force my fiancee to buy shoes for himself and most of the time I have to buy them. He doesn’t worry about stuff like that, he worries about the bills being paid before time, ing accounts, and things that benefit the future. And that’s all that matters to me. If I had judged him by what was on his feet, I would’ve missed out on a lot.

@ Choco – I get what you’re saying but her dad is her ‘manager’ and he complains of her foul mouth. He will be the last to fire her. I guess in her line of work, decorum isn’t expected as much as the average person. I will say this though, she speaks better than AND has a more broad vocab than her sister. That’s one chica you won’t see reading from a teleprompter at an awards show anytime soon.

That is true and I never said that’s THE ONLY thing I look at but a person’s appearance says a lot to me personally. If you don;t agree then so be it but it is not superficial. And there are men who dress well, and do all the things that you mentioned such as paying bills, and taking care of their family. I want both and if that’s what i’m looking for I’ll find it. People are on this post talking about the way Solonge dresses and her shoes stating that she’s “insecure” Unstable” “crying for attention” but then in the next breath want to say the clothes and shoes don’t make a person. If they don’t make a person then why is she being defined by them. That’s my whole point.
