I want to know WHY the US and some of its citizens feel as though they can change the culture of other countries. Afghanistan isn’t the only place the practices things that we can not understand. How about Chinese women the necklaces that stretch their necklaces or the Mursi women. This is a different level of ignorance!
stretch their neck*
TIME MAGAZINE IS WRONG FOR THIS…..
As disturbing as the cover is, there is no innocence in being a child.
Children are exposed to terrible images everyday, from naked ppl on billboards to graphic lyrics to a song. In these trying times many parents are shopping at(generic)grocery stores that don’t even carry this magazine.
Not to be rude, but I don’t know many adults, let alone children that read Time Magazine.
TRYING TO START A WAR!!!!!!
WONDER WHY HUMANITY IS MESSED UP…..
Very disturbing
@Anna
I agree. Kids are exposed to way more than this sitting in front of a TV screen.
I don’t know many children who read Time magazine or know what that it even existed. Its not like its “Time for Kids”, their kiddie magazine…its targeted for adults.
I see way worse than this on the average video game. I had to throw away Grand Theft Auto.
It’s sad that women are enduring this abuse but we certainly aren’t saving nobody over there. We only contribute to the abuse.
We are in Afghanistan for Opium, Oil, gas pipeline routes, weapon contracts, Lithium etc. etc. It is 100% business related.
Our gov’t does not care about anyone over there and this Time article is nothing more than propaganda meant to keep us persuade public opinion that we are over there doing something constructive.
Please watch youtube video “the truth about war (The Paradigm shift)” for a real idea of what we’re doing over there.
I don’t think this is too much for a child to see. It’s a good conversation piece. There isn’t much that really disturbs children and they are curious individuals. When they see it on the news stand and ask the question that’s an opportunity for parents to tell them what’s going on in the world.
And as far as Time not caring about the children I don’t believe that either. I think that’s their way of trying to gain support for the war. I agree with @Free about trying to change cultures but when you have US citizens blatantly disrespecting soldiers, protesting at funerals it’s ridiculous. It is what it is, the war is going on. Now either stand by your people and country or move to the middle east! Just my 2c

Those are our only options?
I’ve always known that this war had nothing to do with what government was portraying. I feel some of those in the ARMY make it career choice not neccessarily “fighting” for their country but fight to survive PERIOD.
Good Morning Fam…Happy Friday!!!!

Well let’s see.
We have the right to disagree and protest these illegal wars don’t we? We have the right to bring war profiteers to justice if we actually care enough to do it.
We could just leave right now because we have absolutely no right to be there in the first place.
I can keep going…

No they aren’t. I am simply saying: #15 is regarding the magazine, it’s informing us on how the Taliban mutilate the women. I have a knowledge of their culture so that’s how I formed my opinion as stated in my post #1. My post #17 me commenting on YOUR post #12 which has NOTHING to do with this post at all, it has all to do with how we disgressed into our conversation onto another subject. Maybe you didn’t read the post in its entirety before making a comment. Misunderstanding maybe?
FreeToSpeakUp if you have 10 minutes can you please watch “the truth about war (The Paradigm shift)” on youtube and tell me what you thing of it?
Thanks

But it does have everything to do with my post #12. Time magazine are playing their part in drumming up war support for our illegal campaign in Afghanistan. It’s all connected.
everyone has their own opinion. in this world, we all do what we want to do and when we want to do it.
everyone has their own opinion. in this world, we all do what we want to do and when we want to do it.
The United States is incapable of fixing all the worlds problems so we don’t belong there-what is the war for – loosing lives over what cause??? Costing billions and trillions to taxpayers becuz the war will achieve what?
Afghanistan is not the only place suffering nor are their people
So what’s the difference between going ove to Haiti and helping them in a time of need vs. going to Afghanistan and helping them in a time of need. The troops are over there to train their military so that they will be able to overrule those other entities that try to overturn their goverment and take control with DEADLY force.
I will do it when I get home. Is the video from a reputtable source?

The information speaks for itself. It’s not opinion if that’s what you’re really asking.
I mean they KILL you if you believe in Christianity over there. There is a guy that works with me who went Iraq for a TDY. He and one of the Iraqis became really close and the Iradi would always bring him things. Once they started talking the Iraqi told him that he believe in Christianity and that he thought that someone found out and he would be in big trouble. The Iraqi told him that he had been a really good friend to him. The guy said HE NEVER SAW THE IRAQI AGAIN. They will kill you because you don’t believe what they WANT YOU TO BELIEVE.

We haven’t been in Haiti for 9 yrs (length of war). Originally we were looking for weapons of mass destruction, then operation (forgot the name) where we were looking for the Taliban, not because they abuse their women (magazine article) but their organization were blamed for terroizing us. A lot of loop holes but never under the impression that the war was to save Afghan people. That’s why I don’t see how this article relates to the war.
Free you read “Jezebel” . com? And good morning.
Heeeyyyy Free!!
Or here’s another story just to let you know how bad things are over there.
A man was married to woman that he no longer wanted to be with. So he LIED and accused her of cheating on him. Over there, if you are a MAN and you are accused of cheating your SPOUSE must PROVE that you cheated. If you are a WOMAN and your spouse accuses you of CHEATING that WOMAN must PROVE that she didn’t have an affair. How fair is that? Anyway, so once he accused the woman of cheating and she couldn’t prove that she didn’t she was killed. After that he was free to choose another wife.

The mission is currently called “OPPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM” which implies that they are fighting for the freedom of the people right?

Because those reasons are no longer valid and we need new ones!
What don’t you get? This sort of mutilation occurs in many other places and we are doing anything about it. We certainly aren’t reporting on it regularly. This is not new news. Why at this moment is this a front page story? Because war approval ratings are DOWN! We need to get those UP!

I just helped someone to a research paper and my sources were from places other than wikipedia. But it’s your opinion and I respect that.

I saw you said something about it.
I’m sure all the parents who take their children to see Rated-R movies with no shame, shouldn’t mind at all.

That’s not an OPINION i WORK FO RTHE ARMY…
They deploy engineers from my job all the time and the documents say “opperatio Iraqi Freedom”. We’re sent to help rebuild their country. I don’t need to get my info from “wikipedia” when I work for the Army.

Damnit! *better
I can’t type today…
I also believe that the “war” is a red herring.
Sidenote: The girl on the magazine has the most beautiful hair I have ever seen. I almost didn’t notice her missing nose.
That is all….
Just the title alone is disgusting and insulting to our intelligence…
“What If We Leave Afghanistan”
Obviously implying that we are over there trying to do something about this specifically. Anyone who believes that we are over there for noble reasons is either misinformed or blissfully ignorant.
We are over there murdering and stealing natural resources.
Period
