It appears that Toronto Raptors teammates Leandro Barbosa, right, and Reggie Evans are more than just friends on and off the court. It’s a known fact that the NBA has its share of gay players hiding deep in the closet. And with attitudes being more favorable towards gays in society as a whole, it’s just a matter of time before a player rips the closet door off its hinges. In the case of Leandro and Reggie, it’s good to see manly men who aren’t afraid to show affection toward each other, even if they’re joking around.
I asked a manly man, who happens to be a celebrity, how he felt about a man holding hands with him, and he said: “I can’t get with that. If a man tries to hold my hand, I will pull back because I don’t like that. Don’t try to disrespect me with your energy. That’s gay.”

LOL you would think something like that. We must rise up. What my point is, is this. Our black community has developed these unrealistic ideas of men and women. For men it’s this overly masculinized image of hard, hard, hard no room to think or grow. Which is why downlow is the problem that it is. It’s impossible to fit into that image, then we wonder why our kids are left behind when they get into college, and all the other nationalities have had experiences such as traveling to foreign countries, or learning musical instruments, or whatever it happens to be outside of the box. All we can do is be black, stay in the same neighborhood, and die. For women it’s the girl that’s always talked about in the music lyrics, she’s on the pole, or shaking her rump ( shake it, like a salt shaker) I often wonder who is the girl that these songs are talking about, does she really exist? Of course I know she does in some instances, but I’m not thinking every black woman I see who likes to dance, or go to clubs, is the girl in the music lyrics. I do not live in Atlanta, but I know that there are many gay men there, some of them out, others in the closet, I think there’s nothing worse than a man with a girlfriend messing around with men on the backside, that’s horrible, but to suggest that two young black men can’t be jovial with each other doesn’t make sense. Now, it would be different if they were holding hands longingly, and affectionatly. Then yes I would say they are holding hands, but this here is clearly some joking, kiddin’ around type thing. I think everyone needs to get informed, and get educated especially if you are dating, but to keep sitting around making things up out of nothing doesn’t do anything but road blocks you in life. I agree! They are showing their friendship and are probably more comfortable with their own sexuality then a lot of people. To many young men think they have to be angry and aggressive to prove they are “straight” or a “real man”. This story is so much better to hear about because no one was injured or harmed by their hand holding. In other countries men kiss each other on the cheeks and lips (I think).

Black men are the only group of men that can’t be jokingly with each other, no one questions the craziness that white boys do all the time, look at those guys that do the jack ass movies no one comments. The black community is the only one that has these impossible polar views of its men. You are either wearing chains and locks around your neck with bullet wounds to be real, or you’re a fairy. We need to stop the paranoia.

LOL with the baby and Wayne reference, but you are right in many European countries people do greet each other with two quick cheek to cheek kisses. It’s a form of happy to see one another.
If anyone is interested There’s a film by a famous Spanish director Pedro Almodovar called El Ley Del Deseo ( The Law of Desire) in the film there is a young Antonio Banderas who plays a gay character. This type of openess to the arts cannot exist in our community because we are so quick to shut ourselves down with all these phobias. Today Antonio Banderas is one of the biggest and most desirable actors around. No one thinks of him as Gay because he did this role. Now image if Larenz Tate or Taye Diggs did the same role.
@ Scorpio, you are right about Larenz or Taye. Look what happended to Will Smith in “Six Degress Of Seperation”, it was to believable, and he’s always being questioned/judged of whether he is or isn’t.

Hey Sandra, i am just wondering , Do you have a problem with Gay people? i am a female and I LOVE MEN!!! and I have some gay family members and friends. My favorite show is RuPaul Drage Race! I’m asking you this because i you always seem to make being gay a bad thing. I thought you were gay with is weird if you make gay wrong. I love all people and to each is own but you alway assuming someone is gay when you don’t even know them personally. I know this is a gossip site but I’m just asking because I wanna know. #TeanRainbowSupporter.

I think deep down Sandra is a straight woman, but has convinced herself of being mistrusting of black men so therefore she has relationships with women, and she’s bitter about it.
