A Christian doctor in England is under investigation by the British medical professional body for telling a patient that he needed Jesus.
Richard Scott, a doctor for 28 years, was informed by the General Medical Council (GMC) that an investigation was underway after a young man’s mother lodged a complaint.
Dr. Scott, who practices at a medical center in Margate, east of London, said he had a lengthy discussion about treatment and follow up care with the unidentified 24-year-old male patient, who likely suffered from depression.
But when the man’s mother asked what the doctor told him, he replied: “He just said I need Jesus.”
This prompted the mother to report Dr. Scott to the GMC for medical misconduct.
Dr. Scott insists he acted professionally: “I only discussed my faith at the end of a lengthy medical consultation after exploring the various interventions that the patient had previously tried,” he said.
“I only discussed mutual faith after obtaining the patient’s permission. In our conversation, I said that, personally, I had found having faith in Jesus helped me and could help the patient. At no time did the patient indicate that they were offended, or that they wanted to stop the discussion. If that had been the case, I would have immediately ended the conversation. Source
The young man practices a different faith than Christianity, but his faith had lapsed recently. He continues to seek treatment at the center despite the complaint lodged against the doctor by his mother.
We all need Jesus.
wowza!
I’ve never heard of anything like this! I hope the Dr. doesn’t lose his license over this, but he gots to be mo’ careful about sharing his faith in the office. some ppl live to sue for ish like this
smh…
SMH. If he’s still seeking treatment there and he wasn’t offended, where’s the issue? I’ve had many doctors give me their personal and professional opinions, when/if it offended me I stopped them.
Sandra pls post something of interest

@LaTech
His mom is the one having a fit…I think he’s indifferent…
He is right. Meds for depression cause more harm than good. Prayer can solve a lot of problems for Christians. Maybe he should have asked about his religious beliefs b4 sharing his personal recommendation. People also abuse and sell pills for depression.
What’s wrong with needing Jesus? Sounds like Momma need Jesus as well!
I swear some people are just ridiculous.
I don’t see the problem but these days people will find anything to complain about.
This is bullsh*t. NEXT!
This is some bullshat!!!! And exactly what is wrong with the world today! Smh at this foolishness!!!!
Redeemed is that you
Maybe the Good Doctor should’ve said “Jesus Juice” and Smiled
Ummmm and this is serious??? Like cmon now. I cant believe this is even an issue…smh

LMFAOOOOO….
I wonder if he woulda have told him he needed “dental care benefits” would he have received proper healthcare.
My guess is (since the article says that the patient practiced a faith that was not Christianity) the mother is still very much active in the family’s faith and was more offended than her son was because of this…she still should let her GROWN son handle this though…it’s HIS doctor, not hers…

Nope, she’s still in a camp in Utah waitin for Jesus
I agree with the doctor. Ain’t nothing wrong with baby Jesus, grown man Jesus or on-th-cross Jesus.
I am not a doctor, but I honestly believe that medicine can only help the side effects of an emotional issue. That issue will never go away if that person refuses to confront the emotional issue head on.
Disclaimer: I’m speaking of people that can be sane…not the full on crazies.
It would be all good were it not for this:
“He continues to seek treatment at the center despite the complaint lodged against the doctor by his mother.”
If you don’t like it enough to sue, I would think continuing treatment there would not be an option. #imjustsayin
Well D@%%… The world shoud’ve come to an end Saturday if you can’t say Jesus to anyone without it being offensive and worthy of a complaint!!! My Lord… This World is a mess!
Had to come in for this post…
I’ll be praying for the doctor that this incident doesn’t deture him to witness to other people about the love of Jesus…
That’s what the devil wants and he was mad someone reached out to this kid about a greater power..
that’s all ima say bout that..
Well even ppl w/Jesus still need prof help at times
I go to the Dr. for medical care, not religious counseling. (So called) Christians love spreading the “word” whether it’s requested or not. Yet I know few who would listen if someone tried to talk to them about any other relgion. My profession requires me to work with international clients with lots of different faiths, and I’ve never felt any need to dispense religous information with any of them. My sister went off on a doctor once because she requested birth control and he tried to tell her about the sin of premaritial sex. Whether I’m paying you for medical care or a pizza, you can keep your religious views to yourself. I don ‘t care if you’re Christian, Buddist, Muslim or whatever.
Some people do need jesus though.
