Who watched the premiere of VH1’s ‘Single Ladies’ last night? The sex dramady was filmed on location in Atlanta and stars LisaRaye, Stacey Dash and Charity Shea as 3 not-so-desperate women deftly navigating their way around the singles scene in Atlanta. These women want the ring, but they don’t care how they get it.
The episode also starred Lauren London as Shelley, another scheming gold digger. Also, Pillar Sanders (Deion’s wife) appears in an upcoming episode.
My favorite scene was the one where Stacey Dash (who plays Val) tosses water in her ex-fiance’s face. The look on that queen’s face was priceless!!
Val is a celebrity stylist to the stars who opens her own boutique. She was engaged to the Quinn (Timon Kelly) for 5 years before she caught him cheating. She confronts Quinn and his mistress Shelly having lunch, and Val closes the door on their relationship for good.
Val: You’re pathetic! And a sorry excuse for a human being — let alone, a man… And when I say “man”, I use the term very loosely!
Quint: See, this is exactly why I kicked you to the curb: too much damn drama!
I wasn’t surprised that every man in the show was down low. All of these manly men in Atlanta and they couldn’t find ONE REAL man to cast in the show?
By the way, who caught Puffy’s baby mama Kim Porter in an uncredited cameo role trying to shake down LisaRaye to keep her name out of a tell all book? You sharp-eyed future baby mama’s are correct if you guessed that LisaRaye gave Kim a $100,000 Aximum watch Those watches retail for $100,000, and every baller in the country owns one!
I can’t wait until next week when the show’s producer, Queen Latifah, finally comes out of the closet shows up like a nightmare out of Stacey’s lesbun past.

I liked it. It was pretty good, so I will be tuning in next week. I was doubting it @ first, cuz from the looks of the previews, I thought it was going to be kinda, dull..not so interesting. But the Queen (Latifah) fooled me.
And I like LisaRaye charachter, Kisha and that yt chick is off the chain.

NONE of the main characters on that show can act and if they had made ONE mo comment about LR’s ass I was gonna scream. I don’t see it even having a full season.
The acting wasn’t that bad, I kind of enjoyed the show. It’s good to see a black soap opera. I think for the first episode, they did pretty good. I shoe will get better…………

I agree their acting seeemed C list at best – and I swear I kept saying is that Kim Porter but the broad was looking so hood and ugly Kim you let them set you up you look horrid I came to the conclusion it couldn’t be Kim and I admit if Lauren L has a recurring role I just might watch but it isn’t a fav yet

I watched and enjoyed it, It does sort of remind me of one of those mini-drama-soaps the CW network once aired a few years back.
is enough to make me tune in every week.

The show wasn’t that bad. I mean, they all seem kind of old (I mean mature) for the story line. But, overall, it is ok. It would have been better if they had some 30-somethings playing the parts of Val and Keisha rather than 40-somethings. I will be watching it again.
What I really didn’t like was all the random celebs in the show. What was that all about? I mean, how about giving some jobs to some real actors and stop the bull.
I love me some Common, but as far as acting, I am not feeling it. Kim Porter, I wasn’t feeling her either. Hire some real actors, but ppl to work. That’s how I feel about that.

I think the show would make more since if someone Lauren London’s age was going through what they are. They seem a lil bit too old for that type of stuff.

to say I watched the WHOLE thing. I like LisaRaye and Lauren London but her (LisaRaye) acting was blah to me. I thought it was supposed to be a romantic “comedy”….well I missed the “comedy” aspect of it. I noticed how they employed all the “out of work” wannabe actors..i.e Kim Porter, Lauren London, Chili, Eve, Common, Cam’Ron and I can’t remember anyone else (at the moment). I said all they needed was for Sheree to make an appearance and that would seal the deal. Low and behold I see Woody Woodpecker Kandi’s hair peeking through the background.
Oh and another thing that I wasn’t feeling and DJM its just my opinion, but I didn’t like how the YT woman was cheating on the blk “GOOD” guy, while LisaRaye was humping the broke down YOUNGIN AND dating the other guy and how Stacy slept with TWO guys, thought she was preggars, didn’t know who the daddy was and her ex was acting an a$$ about EVERYTHING but still ended up sleeping with her and just all that OTHER stuff…too unnecessary.

THAT ^^^^^ is incorrect. They broke up b/c she gave him an ultimatum b/c it had been over 5 years and he didn’t want to get married. A few months later after she got the boutique up and running, Lauren came in and said “my fiance is following me around with his blk card” then in walks Stacy’s ex. Lauren didn’t know that Stacy was the his ex and so on and so forth.

Sandra, judging by your commentary, I get the distinct impression that you didn’t actually watch the show. Pilar might be in an upcoming episode, but she was already on last night’s episode. Stacy didn’t leave her boyfriend for cheating either.
I was pleasantly surprised how how well Kim Porter acted. I hope to see more of her. Also, why do people keep giving Common acting gigs? He really sucks at it.

it had it’s moments, but most of them were bad. i’ll tune in again, but they improve drastically. I was not happy about watching that show simply because they were black. the part that had me too thru was when lisa ray said she had bought the pregnancy tests years ago. all five of them said stacy dash’s character was pregnant but all were faulty. that was so phuckin dumb and horribly written.
the cast is sexy, but the story line is awful. oh, and they can’t act. none of them. i saw too many scenes where the director should’ve yelled cut, lets shoot that again.

This show is geared toward a mature audiance. The problem is not the women, the problem is the men they are the same regardless if they are 25-60. Are people saying because they are older their problems should be different or was everyone expecting Cliff and Clare Huxtable (thats the fairy tale not this show). Are single older women no supposed to phuck? or are all older women supposed to be married? I don’t get it.
Anyway, Lisa Raye can use some acting lessons but she did well. They keep talking about her butt- Azz because she is supposed to be a video vixen. I did not like that the white girl had the good man and cheated but such is life (read the paper). Kim porter did ok.
I hope the acting improves over time like within the next 4 shows
